We reported earlier tonight that production on Matt Reeves’ The Batman was forced to halt yet again after only just resuming three days ago in The UK because one of the crew members tested positive for coronavirus, and we now have a fairly surprising – not to mention pretty bleak – update.

According to multiple sources, said crew member is actually the movie’s main star, Robert Pattinson (Bruce Wayne/Batman).

This is obviously going to be a massive blow to the production, and depending on how long the actor is forced to quarantine for, could well result in a significant delay to the film’s release. There is also a larger issue.

Such a high profile star contracting COVID while filming has led to many questioning if work on Hollywood productions, in general, has resumed prematurely, and if all of these safety protocols we’ve been told have been implemented are enough to keep the virus at bay on set.

We’ll have to see how things progress. For now, all we can do is wish Pattinson a speedy recovery.

The Batman is (hopefully) set to be released next October, and stars Robert Pattinson as The Dark Knight, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as The Riddler, Colin Farrell as The Penguin, Andy Serkis as Alfred, and more.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. reached its conclusion on ABC earlier this year, and while it left fans wondering whether the show ever really took place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the response to the show’s final year was a positive one. However, one sticking point for fans was the fact that even though a lot of familiar faces ended up returning, Agent Grant Ward was nowhere to be seen.

Brett Dalton’s S.H.I.E.L.D. agent – who was ultimately outed as a HYDRA spy in one of the show’s biggest twists – died and came back to life quite a few times, and with alternate universes/timelines and LMDs a big part of the final season, there’s no reason that couldn’t have happened again. 

So, why was Ward M.I.A. from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s final season? Not even Dalton is sure! 

“You and me both,” he jokingly responded when we wondered why his character was missing from the series. “I was watching too, thinking, ‘I dunno, maybe they filmed something in secret and will pull up some old footage of me from when I was there!’ [Laughs] No, sadly, I was never asked and I’m trying not to be sad about it, though I am a little bit.”

“I just like to think about how thankful I am for the time that I did have because the journey was incredible and very complex and probably longer than it would have been on another show. However, I think that they liked me so much that they kept me along for the ride, and just after a while they were like, ‘Okay, this is sort of stretching the [Laughs] imagination here and I don’t know what other iterations we could have for your character, and we’ve reached the end of the road.'”

“It’s okay…I still love them,” he concluded. “Because of that show, I moved to LA, and they were the first friends and real family here and I’ll forever be grateful for that.”

It is a shame the character was overlooked when Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. reached its end, but Dalton has now moved on to the DC Universe for the new Superman: Man of Tomorrow animated movie (which is out now on Digital and arrives on DVD and Blu-ray in the UK on September 7th) where he plays Parasite. Following the Dune covers and a batch of official stills, four more images from the latest issue of Empire Magazine have been shared online.

While most of the earlier promo stills have focused on individual characters, this is the first time we get a sense of the massive scale of Denis Villeneuve’s adaptation courtesy of a wide shot of the vast Harkonnen army. The Baron’s men are formidable fighters, but their legions become even more lethal when bolstered by the Padishah Emperor’s Sardaukar forces.

We also have a behind-the-scenes shot of Villeneuve directing star Timothée Chalamet (Paul Atreides), as well as new looks at Sharon Duncan-Brewster as Liet-Kynes and Josh Brolin as Gurney Halleck in the Arrakeen residency hall on Arrakis.

During a new interview with the mag, Villeneuve was asked about David Lynch’s previous adaptation of Frank Herbert’s classic novel, which the iconic filmmaker himself has since all-but disowned.

“I’m a big David Lynch fan, he’s the master,” Villeneuve said. “When I saw [Lynch]’s Dune I remember being excited, but his take… there are parts that I love and other elements that I am less comfortable with. So it’s like, I remember being half-satisfied. That’s why I was thinking to myself, ‘There’s still a movie that needs to be made about that book, just a different sensibility.’”

We’ll get to see what that new take on Dune looks like for ourselves when the movie hits theaters this December. The first trailer is set to debut online on September 9.

Although the episode we saw back in April was forced to serve as the Season 10 finale of The Walking Dead because of the industry wide COVID-19 production shut-downs, and actual conclusion to the season is set to air on October 4, and FOX TV (The UK network for the show) has now released a new promo.

It’s brief, but it does contain some new shots that didn’t feature in the Comic-Con@Home teaser, as we see Daryl, Carol, Father Gabriel, Judith and the rest of the survivors prepare for the now vengeance-driven Beta and his new herd of walkers.

Although she doesn’t appear in the promo, the returning Maggie (Lauren Cohan) is expected to factor into the final battle.
