During The Walking Dead‘s Comic-Con@Home panel, it was confirmed that the delayed season 10 finale will air on AMC on October 4th. A sneak peek was also released, and that shows a massive gathering of the undead alongside the revenge-hungry Whisperers. You can check that out by watching the video below for the full panel.

In terms of news, it’s obviously an uncertain time right now, but October does look set to be a big month for The Walking Dead franchise if what few details this panel revealed are any indication.

This finale will be followed by the premiere of The Walking Dead: World Beyond, and looking ahead to the future, it was said that there won’t be a season 11 in 2020; instead, AMC is working on an “extended” season 10 which will include at least six additional episodes which are currently on track to air on the network early next year.

A synopsis for the season 10 finale reveals little saying only that, “Beta engages the final battle of the Whisperer War.” The episode – titled “A Certain Doom” was directed by Greg Nicotero, with a story by  Jim Barnes, Eli Jorné, and Corey Reed, and teleplay by Reed.

We had heard this might be a possibility, but in a recent interview with Collider, The New Mutants director Josh Boone confirmed that the movie will boast a surprisingly short runtime. This doesn’t usually bode well for a blockbuster, but the filmmaker actually explained the reasoning behind it. 

“I think it’s 98 minutes or something like that,” Boone revealed. “It was never more than 104 even at its longest.” Apparently, the original cut was around twenty minutes longer. “We put together all the deleted scenes for everybody. It was more just stuff that was too funny or tonally just didn’t quite go together, but it’s cute character moments that I think fans will like.”

Looking at this from a common sense perspective, Disney could have decided to shorten the runtime in order to save money as The New Mutants had unfinished visual effects when they acquired Fox, and depending on how much work was required for these twenty minutes, they could have saved millions of dollars cutting them. 

As for those deleted scenes, we have no idea when and where they will ultimately be released.

Regardless, Boone went on to explain that a big part of the hold up with the movie has been the fact he was only three quarters of the way into editing it, and that Andrew Buckland helped him finish it as original editors Matthew Dunnell and Rob Sullivan were busy working on The Stand (which Boone directed). 

Right now, The New Mutants has a release date of August 28th, but whether it will actually end up playing in theaters is obviously unclear given everything that’s happening in the world right now.

There have been quite a few Star Wars rumors doing the rounds over the past couple of weeks, and these latest reports relate to a couple of characters fans have been anxious to see return to the galaxy far, far away for quite a while.

First up, The Direct has heard that a Darth Maul series is in the works at Disney+, and the character is expected to feature in “multiple” shows over the next few years. The former Sith Lord made a memorable appearance at the end of Solo: A Star Wars Story, and it’s assumed that his show will take place after the events of that movie. Emilia Clarke’s duplicitous Qi’ra  is said to “feature prominently in the series.”

In addition, The Illuminderdi reports that the Obi-Wan Kenobi series is scheduled to commence production in Los Angeles next March. Most big productions have been forced to restrict filming to closed sets because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, but the untitled Obi-Wan show is expected to make use of The Volume – the virtual filming environment that was so integral to first season of The Mandalorian.

Ewan McGregor will return as the former Jedi Master, and there are rumors that Hayden Christensen may reprise the role of Anakain Skywalker/Darth Vader. Deborah Chow (The Mandalorian) will direct all of the first seasons episodes from a script by Joby Harold (Bumblebee).
