In “Rumor Mill,” we share the hard to buy rumours that don’t come from reliable sources like the trades, but are still more believable (just) than what you might find on Reddit.
According to Cinelinx’s Jordan Maison, he’s heard rumblings that at least “a couple” of Disney+ TV shows spinning out of the events of Solo: A Star Wars Story could be in the very early stages of development for the streaming service. Maison has shared a lot of reliable information in the past, so this is definitely a rumour worth taking note of.
As he mentions, it’s possible these never got past the “idea stage,” and he’s unable to share any further details on which characters these might have/will focus on.
We can, of course, take some guesses. Qi’ra seems like an obvious choice seeing as her storyline ended on something of a cliffhanger, and that would go some way in filling in the final gaps in Maul’s history. Chewbacca could also be fun, though Donald Glover’s Lando Calrissian receiving the spotlight in his own solo series honestly seems the most likely show for Disney+.
Unfortunately, with no Disney+ this year, it’s unlikely we’ll learn of Lucasfilm’s future Star Wars plans for a while, but this is definitely something that’s going to get #MakeSolo2Happen fans talking.
FWIW, I’d heard of a couple Disney Plus series being developed to focus on various characters in #Solo. Haven’t heard any updates since the start of this year, however, so not sure if those are still being worked on, or ever got beyond the “idea stage.”

Some new Jurassic World: Dominion set photos have been shared by The Sun as shooting resumes in Pinewood Studios in Berkshire, England. While they were taken from above, we see a snowy setting and a downed plane, and it’s fair to say this is a very different location for the franchise.
Of course, with Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom closing the door on a return to Isla Nublar and dinosaurs now roaming the entire Earth, it was clear we would be paying a visit to some unexpected locales.
Quite a few productions in England have resumed, but Dominion is perhaps the biggest, and a source tells the site: “This is the last thing anyone expected so soon. Everyone was excited about getting things back up and running on set but this could totally derail that. There are millions and millions of pounds at stake here.”
Shooting on director Colin Trevorrow’s threequel was called off in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and it remains to be seen whether it will meet its planned June 2021 release date as of right now.

By now, you’ve no doubt heard that there’s a chance movie theaters won’t be able to re-open in late July/early August as planned, but some new forecasts point to them possibly staying closed until…next year?!
Cowen’s Doug Creutz has shared a new outlook for the future of theaters, explaining that while, “we had previously assumed that the spread of COVID-19 would be relatively halted, with social distancing requirements significantly lessened by late 2020. We have now extended that timeline out to at least mid-2021; the situation remains very fluid, and we do not rule out the possibility that the impact could last even longer.”
Simply put, he believes many theaters won’t be able to re-open until the middle of next year, and goes so far as to say that he doesn’t anticipate any new films released in “fiscal year 2020” (for Disney, that ends in September). “We now expect domestic theaters to be largely closed until mid-2021, in part because we don’t think studios will be interested in releasing their largest movies into a capacity-constrained footprint,” Creutz adds.
The news for theme park fans is no better as he expects that Disney World’s “heavy capacity constraints will prevail until at least mid-2021,” and notes that “there is a meaningful probability that the park could be forced to close again.”
As for Disneyland, that “remains closed, and we expect that to persist due to California’s more cautious approach in dealing with the virus.” Needless to say, the outlook is bleak, and things really aren’t looking good right now.
Things change all the time, of course, but with COVID-19 cases on the rise in the United States, these forecasts sounds alarmingly accurate.
What do you guys think?

Is another iconic Star Wars character being lined up for the Obi-Wan Kenobi series coming to Disney+?
According to a report shared by Full Circle Cinema, rumor has it Darth Vader will also be making an appearance. This news comes days after it was claimed that Hayden Christensen has signed on for a lead recurring role as Anakin Skywalker in the show. How large of a role the Sith Lord will play isn’t addressed, though a cameo appearance of some sort was to be expected.
By the time we caught up with “Ben Kenobi” in A New Hope, he was well-aware of Darth Vader’s existence, so something must have happened during the years he was isolated on Tatooine to facilitate that.
A face-to-face confrontation is doubtful, but Kenobi could see Vader from a distance or in a vision of some sort. The villain certainly isn’t the first classic Star Wars character to be rumoured for the show, as a young Luke Skywalker and older Jar Jar Binks have both also been mentioned.
Deborah Chow is directing Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Army Of The Dead scribe, Joby Harold, wrote the latest version of the series after Lucasfilm decided to go back to the drawing board last year.

Confirming recent rumors that Atom Smasher would feature in the upcoming Black Adam movie, THR reports that Noah Centineo (To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before) has been cast to play the DC Comics hero.
Centineo, who has also been linked to the long-gestating Masters of the Universe movie, will join Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as the titular antihero.
In the comics, Atom Smasher, aka Albert Rothstein, is a mountain of a man who has the ability to grow to pretty much any size he chooses and increase his strength exponentially. He previously appeared in live-action in an episode of The CW’s The Flash.
The Jaume Collet-Serra-directed Shazam! spinoff is also expected to feature the big-screen debuts of fellow Justice Society members Cyclone, Hawkman, Hawkgirl, and Dr. Fate, so keep an eye out for more casting announcements soon. A rumor that WB might be considering a JSA movie if Black Adam is a success did the rounds recently, but that obviously remains to be seen.
Black Adam was originally scheduled to begin shooting this month, but the COVID-19 pandemic made that impossible. It looked like the production wasn’t going to suffer too significant a delay (Johnson recently claimed that cameras were set to roll in August of September), but the latest update reckons it’ll now be early 2021.

While we all wait (im)patiently for a first look at some footage from Dune (there was speculation that the trailer might debut during Comic-Con@Home, but that’s not looking likely now), it seems Denis Villeneuve and his crew are gearing up for reshoots.
Oscar Isaac recently revealed that additional photography was set to commence as soon as it was safe to travel, and Rebecca Ferguson has now confirmed that she’ll soon be returning to Budapest, Hungary to re-immerse herself in the desert world of Arrakis.
The Mission: Impossible Fallout actress will play Lady Jessica, concubine of Duke Leto Atreides I (Isaac), and the mother of his son Paul. She is also a member of the Bene Gesserit Sisterhood, and possesses extremely powerful abilities.
Check out Ferguson’s Instagram post below.
Just in case you’re not too familiar with the Dune universe, you’ll find a breakdown of the main characters and who’ll be playing them along with some previously released images below.
We don’t spoil any major events from the book, but if you’d rather go in knowing as little as possible, might be best to skip it!

Paul Atreides is the primary protagonist of Dune.
Born on the planet Caladan to Duke Leto Atreides I and his Bene Gesserit concubine Lady Jessica, Paul eventually travels to Arrakis and winds up becoming a Messiah-like figure to the desert planet’s indigenous people, The Fremen. There, he meets and falls in love with a Fremen warrior named Chani, and is forced to choose between settling down with her and embracing the terrifying destiny glimpsed in his spice-induced visions.
Paul will be played by Call Me By Your Name star Timothée Chalamet.

Fremen warrior and Paul Areides’ love interest, Chani is the daughter of half-Fremen planetologist Liet Kynes.
When Paul arrives on Arrakis, Chani is serving under Stilgar as his right-hand woman but soon falls for the mysterious young newcomer – even though she remains wary of the powerful prescient visions they share.
Spider-Man: Far From Home‘s Zendaya will play Chani in Villeneuve’s film.

Upon arriving on Arrakis, Jessica is welcomed into the ranks of The Fremen along with her son, and eventually accepts the position of new Reverend Mother, despite being aware of the potentially catastrophic repercussions of this action.
Jessica will be played by Mission: Impossible – Fallout star Rebecca Ferguson.

Paul’s father Leto Atreides I starts out as the ruler of the planet Caladan, but when The Emperor asks him to take control of Arrakis and oversee spice production there, he relocates to the planet known as Dune with his son and concubine, Jessica.
Leto is generally well liked and respected by all of his subjects for his even-handed and compassionate leadership style, but this also leads to jealousy among his fellow noblemen of the other Great Houses.
This take on Leto Atreides will be brought to life by Oscar Isaac (Star Wars: The Last Jedi, X-Men: Apocalypse).

Stilgar Ben Fifrawi is the noble Naib (leader) of Sietch Tabr, a Fremen tribe of Arrakis, and one of Paul Atreides’ most loyal allies.
When Leto and his family relocate to Dune, Stilgar and his people are wary of their motives at first but soon come to view The Duke’s son Paul as the desert messiah of their ancient prophecies. Stilgar also strikes up a strong friendship with Duncan Idaho.
In Dune (2020), this character will be played by Javier Bardem (Skyfall, No Country for Old Men, Mother!).

Duncan Idaho is a skilled swordmaster loyal to House Atreides who helps to train Paul in various combat styles.
In the novel, Leto sends Duncan to Arrakis as an envoy to get a read on the nomadic Fremen population. While there, Idaho strikes up a friendship with Stilgar and ultimately winds up pledging dual allegiance to the Atreides and the Fremen leader.
Aquaman star Jason Momoa has been cast as this fan-favorite character.

The ruthless, but noble Warmaster for House Atreides, Gurney Halleck was one of Paul’s principal teachers along with Duncan during his early years on Caladan.
An exceptionally skilled warrior, Gurney is described as “an ugly lump of a man” in the source material, which may suggest that the actor who’ll be playing him, Josh Brolin, will be undergoing a slight transformation for the role.

The Boys are set to return for more ultra-violent adventures on September 4, and Amazon recently unveiled a full, blood-soaked trailer for what promises to be an even batshit crazier second season. Now, EW has shared a new still featuring all five members of the team back together… and in serious need of a change of cloths!
Why are Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) and his associates Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara), Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso), “Wee” Hughie Campbell (Jack Quaid), and The Frenchman (Tomer Kapon) covered in blood? All we know for sure is that it involves a whale (we’re not sure we want any more details).
Butcher will be MIA when the season gets underway, and while this ultimately leads to tension with his teammates, Urban suggests that the unstable antihero is going to show a softer side this season.
“There’s the monster, the violent psychopath, the killer, but there’s also the more compassionate side, the more humanistic side of Billy… There are really some wonderful, unlikely relationships that are formed,” says the Dredd actor. “Billy thinks the only good Supe is a dead Supe, and this season is really a season about growth. He’s coming to understand that things aren’t that black and white, there’s a certain shade of grey. He’s coming to understand that there is a benefit that comes with tolerance and being able to see that if he can use an asset, even if it’s a Supe, to achieve his goal, then he’s got to do it.”
Check out the image along with the recent NSFW trailer below, and be sure to let us know if you plan on tuning in for Season 2 of The Boys in the comments.

The even more intense, more insane season two finds The Boys on the run from the law, hunted by the Supes, and desperately trying to regroup and fight back against Vought. In hiding, Hughie (Jack Quaid), Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso), Frenchie (Tomer Capon) and Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) try to adjust to a new normal, with Butcher (Karl Urban) nowhere to be found. Meanwhile, Starlight (Erin Moriarty) must navigate her place in The Seven as Homelander (Antony Starr) sets his sights on taking complete control. His power is threatened with the addition of Stormfront (Aya Cash), a social media-savvy new Supe, who has an agenda of her own. On top of that, the Supervillain threat takes center stage and makes waves as Vought seeks to capitalize on the nation’s paranoia.
The Boys will return to Amazon Prime this September.
