Your ultimate Game of the Year contender is here, folks. Nintendo has just released the final trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, preparing players all around the world for the sequel to one of the greatest games in history, and what will probably turn into their next open-world obsession.
Nintendo customers may still be stuck with their older eighth-gen hardware, but you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference from a technical standpoint by looking at Tears of the Kingdom. This next installment in The Legend of Zelda once again brings Link into the expansive open-world environment of Hyrule, but much like several other current-gen games, the studio has utilized the vertical space at their disposal to make the setting even more open to exploration, not to mention endlessly broader than Breath of the Wild.
As you can see in this latest trailer, Link will be able to fly and glide his way through the continent and the floating islands inside it, all the while using the new ability known as “fusing” to make weapons of stones, branches, logs, leaves, boulders, and quite possibly any other item lying around to counter different types of enemies.
Not much is known about the sequel’s plot, but it seems that the evil warlock Ganondorf is making a comeback as the main antagonistic figure in Tears of the Kingdom. This sequel was originally developed as DLC for Breath of the Wild, and as its own full-fledged game, we can expect it to pick up the story right where BotW left off.
Gamers have been anticipating Tears of the Kingdom for quite a while, so it almost feels surreal to say that the game is finally coming out in less than a month on May 12.
Hyrule awaits, and the fate of the world itself is at stake, ye Heroes of the Wild!
