STAR WARS Sequel Actress Kelly Marie Tran Is Open To Returning As Rose Tico If It’s “The Right Story”

Image

Star Wars: The Last Jedi was a divisive movie, and for whatever reason, fans vented their frustrations on actress Kelly Marie Tran. There was nothing really wrong with Rose Tico as a character, but in a bid to pander to those same “fans,” J.J. Abrams completely sidelined the Resistance hero in The Rise of Skywalker

That also generated some backlash, and it was last December that Crazy Rich Asians director Jon M. Chu mentioned that he would love to give Rose her own Disney+ series.

When Collider mentioned that to Tran, she responded: “He’s so cool. I don’t know. I honestly don’t know. It’s so strange. I had so much fun being in that world but I feel like the pieces would have to fall into a perfect little puzzle and everything would have to feel like it’s the right time and the right moment and the right story, like with any other project. But I don’t know.”

The site noted that Rose is a character who has more story to tell, a sentiment that Tran agrees with. “Yeah, absolutely. Absolutely. I think there are a lot of characters in that universe that we have yet to hear enough about.”

Clearly, she’s undecided about a return, and as of right now, it seems doubtful that Lucasfilm will return to that era in Star Wars history. It’s possible Tran might be able to reprise the role in an animated series or something similar, but our best bet right now is that she returns in a novel or comic book.

SPIDER-MAN: MILES MORALES – With Great Power Comes Great Selfies In Spectacular New Screenshot

Image

There should be nothing but excitement surrounding the release of Spider-Man: Miles Morales on the PlayStation 5, but the “Remastered” version that will be part of the Ultimate Edition has been generating a lot of negative press. Fans hate the redesigned Peter Parker, while the inability to carry save files from the PS4 has not sat well with some gamers.

Regardless, to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, Insomniac have released a new look at the web-slinger confirming that you’ll once again be able to take selfies while swinging around the Big Apple.

Miles looks amazing here, and it’s going to be really exciting to get hands on with the game on November 12th. Rumour has it that the game won’t be overly long, so fingers crossed for a DLC down the line.

In the latest adventure in the Marvel’s Spider-Man universe, teenager Miles Morales is adjusting to his new home while following in the footsteps of his mentor, Peter Parker, as a new Spider-Man. But when a fierce power struggle threatens to destroy his new home, the aspiring hero realizes that with great power, there must also come great responsibility. To save all of Marvel’s New York, Miles must take up the mantle of Spider-Man and own it.

GET OUT Actress Allison Williams Set To Reteam With Blumhouse For New Sci-Fi Horror M3GAN

Image

Following her memorable supporting role in Jordan Peele’s Get Out, Allison Williams is set to reteam with Blumhouse for a new sci-fi horror flick from Housebound director Gerard Johnstone, M3GAN.

The former Girls actress will star as Gemma, a brilliant roboticist at a toy company. She uses artificial intelligence to develop M3GAN, a life-like doll programmed to be a kid’s greatest companion and a parent’s greatest ally. After unexpectedly gaining custody of her orphaned niece, Gemma enlists the help of the M3GAN prototype – a decision that has unimaginable consequences.

We’re going to go ahead and assume those unimaginable consequences involve M3GAN malfunctioning and going on a killing spree. The premise sounds a little too close to Child’s Play, but Johnstone did deliver a highly entertaining little chiller with Housebound, and there might well be more to the plot than the synopsis suggests.

Akela Cooper (Malignant, The Nun 2, Luke Cage) penned the script from an original story by Aquaman director James Wan. Jason Blum and Wan are producing the movie along with Michael Clear of Wan’s Atomic Monster banner.

No word on when production is expected to commence or a tentative release date.

What do you guys make of this? Does M3GAN sound like it has potential? Let us know in the comments.

ARTIFICIAL: REMOTE INTELLIGENCE Exclusive Interview With LAST OF US II Voice Actor Stephen Chang

Image

As the third season of Twitch’s Artificial has been released, we have been bringing you guys our exclusive chats with the cast and the crew. We’ve shared conversations with creator Bernie Su (Emma Approved), Miss Asian America 2006 Jennifer Field (House of Lies), voice actress Alejandra Reynoso (Castlevania), the one and only Rufio, Dante Basco (Hook, Avatar: The Last Airbender), and at least a half a dozen other stars.

With Season 3 having ended last week, we are now wrapping up our interviews with the cast, and today we’re bringing you our final piece promoting the Emmy award-winning series. This chat is with The Last of Us Part II’s Jesse voice and mo-cap actor, Stephen Chang (Captain Marvel, Emma Approved).

Stephen spoke with us about why people see his character as a villain, what it’s like to act opposite Rufio himself, and we even learned a bit about his very own children’s book, which was inspired by his college basketball career.

To listen to our exclusive interview with Stephen Chang, click the podcast player below. Otherwise, scroll down for this portion of the transcript.

4m 5s Literary Joe: You worked with Bernie on Emma Approved first?

4m 12s Stephen Chang: Yeah, that was Bernie’s second Emmy award-winning show. (laughs) He’s collecting all the Emmys. He’s been sweeping them up.

4m 49s Literary Joe: Do you feel like the character Churchill that you played in Emma Approved influenced Sebastian at all?

5m 47s Stephen Chang: I feel like they’re cut from the same cloth. I think when Bernie saw that I could do Churchill, what I did for that show. I like it because most things I go out for are police officers or a military guy. He allows me to be crazy. He allows me to go big with it. He allows me to be wild and flamboyant. And I’m honored because he’s the only director that’s ever cast me that way. And he’s like yeah, Stephen can do that.

5m 53s Literary Joe: How do you feel about this rivalry you have with Dante Basco’s Zander?

6m 33s Stephen Chang: I’m more honored that I get to act with Rufio. The writers are telling me that this Dante is making me look really bad in this show. He’s exposing my secrets. They said, don’t worry, Stephen, you have to fall before you can get back up. OK. I like where this is going. So I’m not the total a*****e in this show. They’re going to bring me back in all of my glory, hopefully.

6m 40s Literary Joe: If there’s a season four, what kind of future do you see happening for Sebastian?

6m 44s Stephen Chang: I’m trying to get through season three right now. I don’t know where it’s going now. I don’t know where they are going to end the season. I’m finding out like everyone else, but I’m very excited about it. I think it’d be interesting to get it out into the world again after remote location filming. In my ego, Sebastian is the hero. He has to save the day somehow. But everyone else says he’s a villain.

12m 36s Darth Lexii: Where do you film in your house for Artificial? It looks like a soundproof room.

12m 36s Stephen Chang: Well, it was a big brouhaha because I’m supposed to be a multimillionaire, and they said, what do you have in your house? I show them, and they say it doesn’t look like a multimillionaire house. And I was like, I ain’t a multimillionaire. So, they played with the idea of he’s in the soundproof room, that’s mysterious. You don’t know where he is, but it’s been convenient because I’ve been able to film at different locations using that same background. I’m not limited to my one room, but no, sorry to spoil it for you, but I don’t have a soundproof room. It’s just a couple of panels too.

14m 53s Literary Joe: What do you think of Life Score?

17m 6s Stephen Chang: When I’m on the live-stream, I guess its probably a good thing, but I don’t hear the score behind it. I don’t know how they’re doing half the stuff they’re doing. It’s so creative and out of the box thinking. Things that I would never even imagine. Talking to Bernie, I fell like this is where entertainment might be heading—giving audiences a lot more control over the story and even the sound. I prefer to watch a movie, and I can fall asleep during the movie if I need to. But this, you have to be paying attention. We are doing this s**t live. Okay. And that’s why I have a lot of gray hairs. This is what the audience wants you to do, and you have to go with it.

20m 49s Literary Joe: Is there anything you need to plug or mention before we let you go?

20m 59s Stephen Chang: I write children’s books. Speaking of basketball, it’s a basketball children’s book that I even have a website. It’s called the Bballbook.com; it’s about things I learned playing basketball told from the perspective of a basketball. I’m very proud of it. And I’ve been working on some other children’s books. You know when I’m not getting killed by infected or being an evil villain, I like to write children’s books.

*This interview has been edited for clarity. Audio is co-hosted by fellow writer Comic Brooks and cosplay actress Darth Lexii.*

TENET: Christopher Nolan’s Movie Will Reportedly Be Released On DVD And Blu-ray This December

Image

Film Stories is reporting that Christopher Nolan’s Tenet is set to arrive on DVD and Blu-ray in the U.S. on December 15th. There’s no word on special features, but it has been confirmed that the movie will have subtitles (which are bound to come in handy for what many critics described as indecipherable scenes thanks to muffled dialogue).

Nolan’s movie failed to reignite the box office as both he and Warner Bros. had hoped, underperforming in a major way thanks to ongoing concerns caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Simply put, moviegoers don’t feel safe returning to theaters, and Tenet alone was not enough to help multiplexes stay afloat amidst a series of high profile blockbusters being delayed. It needed to make $500 million to break even, and with that looking more and more unlikely, it makes sense for Warner Bros. to capitalise on a quiet holiday season by putting Tenet on Blu-ray in time for Christmas.

Chances are a Digital release is also planned, and getting to watch the movie in a safe setting from the comfort of home should be welcomed. Whether it will help take Tenet out of the red is unclear.

As for The New Mutants, there’s still no official word on what Disney has planned for Fox’s final Marvel movie.

Will you be picking up Tenet on Blu-ray this December? Let us know your thoughts below.

THE FLASH: Warner Bros. Rumoured To Be “Pursuing” Gal Gadot To Appear As Wonder Woman

Image

Could we see Wonder Woman show up in The Flash movie?

A new rumor doing the rounds online (via The Illuminerdi) claims that Warner Bros. is currently courting Gal Gadot to return as Diana Prince for the long-gestating DC Comics film, which recently moved (again) from June 3, 2022 to November 4, 2022.

The Justice League actress is reportedly wanted for a “small, supporting role.”

It’s been confirmed that this first solo outing for the Scarlet Speedster will either adapt or take inspiration from the Flashpoint comic book arc, so an appearance from Princess Diana would certainly make sense. The character played an integral part in the original story, and even if this movie only turns out to be very loosely based on Flashpoint, there are multiple ways she could factor into the plot.

We know Ben Affleck will once again don the cape and cowl as Batman, and the presence of Michael Keaton’s original big-screen Dark Knight confirms that the movie wil explore DC’s Multiverse to at least some extent.

Take this with a pinch of salt for now, but do you think adding Wonder Woman to the mix would be a good idea? How about the other members of the Justice League? Be sure to share your thoughts in the usual place.

JUSTICE LEAGUE Star Henry Cavill Explains Why The Movie’s Press Tour Was “Super Awkward” For Him

Image

Poor Henry Cavill found himself the subject of many a meme thanks to the visual effects which were used to remove his Mission: Impossible – Fallout moustache in Justice League, and chances are that’s a moment in his career he would like to forget. He’ll return for reshoots for “The Snyder Cut,” but there won’t be any need to change his appearance…at least, we hope not!

During a recent interview, Cavill reflected on his Justice League experience, surprisingly pointing to the press tour being more awkward than what he went through with “moustache-gate.”

“It was one of those weird situations where I guess no one really knew what they wanted,” he reflected, “and it was like ‘hey, we need Henry on the press tour, but let’s not tell anyone he’s in the movie.’ I was like: ‘Okay, well, it’s going to be super awkward for me, guys. Thank you for giving me an impossible scenario.”I’m just going to say to people [on the press tour]: Well, yeah, I was here for moral support. I made the tea.'”

Cavill did indeed make those jokes during the press tour, and it must have been a very uncomfortable time for him, especially when he was forced to try and pretend not to be in the movie (it was one of Justice League‘s worst kept secrets, especially when the actor was on that first Comic-Con poster).

With any luck, Cavill will be given the chance to return as Superman beyond “The Snyder Cut,” and Spontaneous director Brian Duffield is keen to be involved with that based on recent comments.

JURASSIC WORLD: DOMINION Pushed Back A Full Year To June 2022; New Poster Released

Image

It’s safe to say 2020 is now pretty much a write-off when it comes to new big-screen releases, but the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic is making major studios jittery about next year, too.

Following the bad news that Matt Reeves’ The Batman has flown to 2022, Universal has announced that Jurassic World: Dominion will be joining it. The latest instalment in the mega-successful dino franchise has vacated its July 11, 2021 spot, and will now stomp into theatres almost a full year later on June 10, 2022.

On the plus side, we do have a new poster.

Production is still going smoothly and is just three weeks away from wrapping, but that’s not the studio’s primary concern. Apparently, the year-long delay is more “about safeguarding a big tentpole which has a number of lucrative ancillary attachments.”

In other words, the movie’s rollout has to go without a single hitch, and they’re taking no bloody chances.

Jurassic World: Dominion reunites director Colin Trevorrow with stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, with original Jurassic Park trio Laura Dern, Sam Neill and Jeff Goldblum joining the carnage as Dr. Ellie Sattler, Dr. Alan Grant and Dr. Ian Malcolm.
