BOOKS OF BLOOD Full Trailer Teases A Disturbing Journey Into The Nightmares Of Clive Barker

Image

“Everybody is a book of blood; wherever we’re opened, we’re red.”

Hulu recently announced that its upcoming film adaptation of Clive Barker’s Books of Blood will premiere on the streaming service on October 7, and we now have a much better idea of what to expect thanks to a creepy full trailer.

This was originally set to be developed as a TV series that would have (presumably) adapted as many of the short stories from Barker’s collection of books as possible, but this feature will only focus on three. We’re not sure which ones, but the trailer does suggest that “The Book of Blood” and “On Jerusalem Street” will be adapted.

The Hellraiser writer’s Books of Blood also featured the likes of Rawhead Rex, Midnight Meat Train (both of which were previously adapted as features), The Yattering and Jack, and The Forbidden, which influenced 1992’s Candyman.

Brannon Braga directed, co-wrote and executive produced along with The Orville collaborator with Seth MacFarlane. The cast members announced so far are: Andy McQueen (Fahrenheit 451), Freda Foh Shen (Ad Astra), Nicholas Campbell (Da Vinci’s Inquest), Anna Friel (Marcella), Britt Robertson (For the People), Rafi Gavron (A Star Is Born) and Yul Vazquez (Midnight, Texas).

Check out the trailer below along with a synopsis, and let us know if you plan on tuning in for Books of Blood this October.

“Written by Braga and Adam Simon (Salem) based on a short story by Barker with contributing original material, Books of Blood takes a journey into uncharted and forbidden territory through three tales tangled in space and time.”

THE MANDALORIAN Season 2 TV Spot Reveals A Brief New Shot Of The Child In His Floating Crib

Image

The Mandalorian returns to Disney+ for its second season on October 30th, and following the release of that trailer last week, we now have a new TV spot. Unfortunately, it mostly reuses footage from the full sneak peek, but there is a shot of The Child looking as wonderfully adorable as ever.

Recently, a brief synopsis was revealed, stating: “The Mandalorian and the Child continue their journey, facing enemies and rallying allies as they make their way through a dangerous galaxy in the tumultuous era after the collapse of the Galactic Empire.”

That also doesn’t reveal much, but earlier this week, Disney and Lucasfilm announced “Mando Mondays,” an all-new global consumer products, games, and publishing program kicking off on October 26th. After fans experience the latest episode every Friday on Disney+, they can visit MandoMondays.com each Monday to see what new toys, collectibles, apparel, books, comics, digital content, and more will be unveiled. That will culminate on December 21st.

It’s been said that there won’t be any shortages of Baby Yoda toys this Christmas, while the “Mando Mondays” news also confirms that the plan is for The Mandalorian to be released on a weekly basis.

CASSIAN ANDOR: Toby Haynes To Direct The First Three Episodes After Tony Gilroy Drops Out Of The Project

Image

Disney is getting ready to start production on Rogue One: A Star Wars Story spinoff Cassian Andor, but a new director has been found in Black Mirror‘s Toby Haynes. He’s replacing Tony Gilroy, the filmmaker who stepped in to help finish Rogue One when original director Gareth Edwards seemingly found himself overwhelmed by taking the helm of the first Star Wars spinoff movie.

Deadline reports that Gilroy was forced to drop out due to COVID-19 related travel restrictions.

He’s based in New York, and ultimately made the decision to remain in the Big Apple rather than travelling over to the UK for several months (it’s hard to blame him when things are getting increasingly worse in the country with projections of 50,000 cases a day by the middle of next month).

Haynes directed the “U.S.S. Callister” episode of Black Mirror, and also the HBO Brexit movie starring Benedict Cumberbatch. He was always being lined up for Cassian Andor, but it seems Lucasfilm has decided to trust him with setting the tone of the prequel series with these first few episodes.

As the trade notes, “The untitled show focuses on Rebel agent Andor prior to the events of Rogue One in the early days of the Rebellion against the Empire. The show had been described as a ‘spy thriller’ when plans for it first were revealed last year. It was also previously announced that Luna would return as Andor, while Alan Tudyk is set to reprise his role as K-2SO.”

Other cast members include Adria Arjona, Denise Gough, Genevieve O’Reilly, Stellan Skarsgard, and Kyle Soller. Are you looking forward to seeing what Haynes does with Cassian Andor?

JUSTICE LEAGUE: Zack Snyder Reveals “Snyder Cut” Fans Have Made Nearly $500,000 For Suicide Prevention

Image

Supporters of the “Snyder Cut” of Justice League have proven themselves to be a passionate bunch, and that’s often led to them being ridiculed online. It’s unfortunately one of those situations where one bad apple ruins it for everyone else, but ever since HBO Max gave Justice League: The Snyder Cut the green light, things have changed somewhat!

One thing that’s always jumped out is the fact that as well as campaigning for the release of this Director’s Cut, they’ve also raised money for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

That’s because Zack Snyder’s daughter sadly died by suicide while Justice League was shooting, and the filmmaker has now confirmed that fans have raised close to half a million dollars over the past few years.

Snyder himself has, of course, contributed to that by launching t-shirts (including an “Associate Producer” one that went on sale during DC FanDome) for sale through charity websites, but who do you think bought them? Those same supporters of the “Snyder Cut” who campaigned for its release!

Needless to say, this is definitely a feel-good story, and one that proves that Justice League: The Snyder Cut is perhaps more than just a movie; it’s a movement.
