THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER Set Photos Show Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Back By His Motorcycle

Image

With work on The Falcon and The Winter Soldier resuming in Atlanta, Georgia, photos from the set of the Disney+ TV series continue finding their way online.

The latest show Sebastian Stan’s Bucky seemingly getting ready to get back on a motorcycle. As fans on social media have pointed out, this brings back memories of Captain America: Civil War when the former HYDRA assassin was being pursued by Black Panther and the C.I.A.

It makes sense for there to be some motorcycle action in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, and this also brings back memories of the comic books. Sam Wilson, meanwhile, is going to be able to take flight thanks to his trusty wings, so it’s doubtful he’ll have a similar ride to this one in the show.

As of right now, it doesn’t appear as if the series will premiere on Disney+ this year as planned, with the signs all pointing to it slipping into next year (Marvel Studios still needs to head back to Prague to finish the scenes which were being shot when they were closed down by the pandemic).

THE SUICIDE SQUAD Star Joel Kinnaman Says It’s “Heavily R-Rated” And Calls John Cena “A Comedic Genius”

Image

There’s a huge amount of excitement surrounding The Suicide Squad, especially after what was revealed during DC FanDome last month. Everything we’ve seen from the movie points to something vastly different to what the 2016 take on Task Force X delivered, and it’s obvious the characters are in safe hands with Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn.

Talking to The Hollywood Reporter, star Joel Kinnaman (who reprises the role of Rick Flag) praised the filmmaker’s take on the DC Comics property, and seemingly confirmed an R-Rating.

“That movie is going to be insane,” he said. “The script is so funny. Every page of that script was funny, and every page made me laugh. James just has this command of that genre, but also over every aspect of comedy and even the marketing. He just understands the world so well, and since he wrote it, he really reinvents not just the concepts, but also the characters.”

“For me, it was like I did my first comedy, but it’s like heavily R-rated,” Kinnaman confirmed. “So much of the action is practical with real explosions, and yeah, that movie is going to be insane. It’s such a great cast that he put together. John Cena, that motherfucker is a comedic genius. No one would make us laugh on set more than John. Every scene he was in, he would go on an improvised tangent. There are so many chops in that cast, and James has such a command of it all.”

“[We] had so much fun doing it,” the actor concluded. “That movie is going to be a fucking monster. Honestly, even though I’m in it, I can’t wait to see it as a fan. (Laughs.)”

This sounds like everything we’ve been hoping for and more, and it’s clear Gunn has something special in store with The Suicide Squad. It seems possible that a trailer will be attached to Wonder Woman 1984 on Christmas Day, but that largely hinges on what happens over the next few months.

THE BOYS Makes An Obvious Dig At Joss Whedon’s JUSTICE LEAGUE In Latest Episode

Image

The latest episode of The Boys is now available to stream on Amazon, and “We Gotta Go Now” features a not-so-subtle dig at Joss Whedon’s Justice League.

The ep begins with Queen Maeve shooting a scene for “Dawn of The Seven,” and being forced to spout some hilariously awful dialogue (“I’m a lot like you. I’m gay.”). When cameras stop rolling, she walks over to Homelander – who clearly influenced the director’s decision to add a queer subplot – to ask him to stop “torturing” her by constantly referencing and taking the piss out of her real-life relationship.

The super-powered prick responds with, “those Joss rewrites really sing, huh?” while waving at someone just offscreen.

It’s probably safe to assume the creative team behind this show are looking forward to the Snyder Cut!

The rest of the episode focuses on Butcher, MM, Hughie and Terror the pooch attempting to evade the lethal Black Noir, as Frenchie tries – unsuccessfully – to talk Kimiko out of becoming a hired killer. Plus, Homelander and Stormfront get physical… very physical!

What did you guys think of this latest instalment of The Boys? Did you catch the Whedon reference? Let us know in the comments.

FOLLOWED Exclusive: Lead Actor Matthew Solomon On Playing ‘Drop The Mic” In The Found Footage Film

Image

From The Blair Witch Project to Unfriended, found-footage films have left their imprint on the horror genre over the past several decades. Some films like Paranormal Activity may have run the idea into the ground with a dozen sequels, but there are still creatives out there trying to create interesting new stories using the technique.

From the results that the box office returned from the recent theater release of Followed, it’s clear that there is still a demand for that corner of the horror genre. We chatted with the cast as well as the director to learn a bit more about the movie and what made the film so successful.

To hear our chat with Matthew Solomon, click the podcast player below. Otherwise, scroll down for this part of the transcript. We’ve also included our exclusive audio interviews with Sam Valentine, Tim Drier, and creator Antoine Le, so check it out!

Literary Joe: I’m curious how much of the character of Mike actually reflects you in your personal life as far as your personal beliefs go?

Matthew Solomon: In terms of personal beliefs, I think Mike and I are very different people, but in terms of behavior, that sort of brash, openness, that willingness to kind of say anything and get away with it. I wish I was more like that. It was really fun getting to be a character that didn’t necessarily care what other people thought. That was very freeing, giving myself that permission for once, it was pretty cool.

Literary Joe: As far as paranormal events go, how familiar were you with paranormal lore and stuff before getting involved with Followed?

Matthew Solomon: I’m one of those people; I love to read about scary stories rather than watch them or hear them. So, for instance, the elevator story in the movie is loosely based on the hotel story with Elisa Lam. I went to college while that story happened, and I was super familiar with it. And, you know, I love a good scary story as long as I don’t have to hear it out loud.

Literary Joe: Had you worked with Antoine or any of the other cast members prior to getting involved with this project?

Matthew Solomon: No, I was new to every single person involved, and I got super lucky because everybody was really lovely to work with. We became a kind of family, which was awesome.

Literary Joe: Is this your first time leading a cast, or have you had other starring roles that helped prepare you for this?

Matthew Solomon: I’ve had starring roles in theater, and in my studies, I do a lot of lead roles, but it’s a completely different thing doing it for a project of this scale. I do think that regardless of what project you’re on, the lead actor sets a little bit of a tone in terms of how everybody’s going to carry themselves and how much everybody really commits to the project. So I kind of had that walking into the film, so I really wanted to be like, “I’m going to show up early, or on time, I’m going to show up prepared and memorized.”

But yeah, being the lead role in something of that scale was just nuts. It wasn’t a ton of kind of pressure as you would have expected it to be. It was mostly just love. And you know, actors love attention, and I got a lot of attention.

Literary Joe: Now I know that there’s a sequel in the works, and I know that Antoine wants to take this universe to wider places and other places in the world. But do you know if your character’s going to be involved with any of the future projects for Followed, or are you not included in that yet?

Matthew Solomon: I think actors are usually the last people to be added to a project. So all I will say is that you know, we don’t really know what happened to Mike. So I think if there is an extended Followed universe, seeing Mike in that Followed universe would be really awesome and would really bring the story to another interesting level. So yeah, I can only hope that I did a good enough job for them to bring him back.

Literary Joe: Yeah. I think the IMDB credits Followed to 2018 but did it come out this year?

Matthew Solomon: We had our festival release in 2018 premiered at the Burbank international film festival, which is a big part of the reason that we ended up getting the theatrical release in 2020 because that is where the movie was basically discovered. And the movie itself was shot in 2016. So this movie has been in the works for a really long time, and it’s just a testament to Antoine and Matt’s willpower and go-getter attitudes that the movie has had the success that it’s had over these few years because especially with an indie film of a smaller budget, you really got push so hard against so many odds to make it visible in any way. And the fact that they got it to the point where it has had such success in the box office is amazing.

Literary Joe: I wanted to ask about the drone. Was that like a prop that you guys used, or was that an actual drone that you guys were using around the set?

Matthew Solomon: That was a very real drone. A lot of the drone footage was caught from that drone that you see on camera. I myself was not operating it, which was a bummer. I wanted to learn how to it, but they wouldn’t let me, which is probably the smartest choice. So when you see Tim and I operating it on camera, it’s a very real drone. And I remember I started karate chopping towards it in the group, and out of the corner of my eyes, I saw one of the producers was very concerned.

matt

Literary Joe: Do you think that the future installments in the Followed universe are also gonna follow the found-footage cinematic technique? Or do you think that they’ll be taken in a different direction?

Matthew Solomon: I think that the technique that we showed in the movie is what makes it so special. So I hope that they continue to. I would be curious to see how it changes as it sort of approaches bigger platforms, and the story grows and the scope. But yeah, I really hope that it sticks to its found-footage group.

UNCHARTED 5: Nolan North Reveals Whether He Believes Nathan Drake Could Return On The PS5 – EXCLUSIVE

Image

The Uncharted video games are among the best ever released, and the Naughty Dog series is critically acclaimed, best-selling, and groundbreaking from a technological standpoint.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End was released in 2016, and served as an undeniably perfect end to the story of Nathan Drake and the characters who surrounded him. Despite that, fans are desperate to return to that world, and an Uncharted in the PlayStation 5 would no doubt be truly phenomenal.

When we sat down with Nate himself, Nolan North, to discuss his role as Tony Stark/Iron Man in Marvel’s Avengers, we obviously had to ask whether he thinks the hero could come out of retirement for one more adventure. Thankfully, it sounds like Nolan is definitely willing to make a comeback!

As well as starring in video games, animated TV shows, and movies, Nolan also has his own YouTube channel – Retro Replay – so make sure you head over and subscribe (we’ve included one of his latest Uncharted videos below). You can also find him on Twitter at @nolan_north and Instagram at @reallynolannorth to keep up to date with that series and his future projects.

Uncharted 4 was such a beautiful game and that ending was perfect, but is there a part of you that thinks Nate could come out of retirement for an Uncharted 5 or is that a character you’re ready to move on from at this stage in your career?

That’s a great question. You know, I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to move on from him. I’m satisfied with it if this truly is the end, which I believe it is. I’m okay with it, but if there were ever a chance they wanted to drag me back out into the mo-cap suit, I’m not gonna lie, I try to keep myself in shape just for that day! [Laughs]

Over the years, he just became more and more like me, and I became like him, aside from climbing and shooting things. It’s never anything I would say no to. I would always want to continue that role if they ever wanted me back. That being said, I think they wrapped it up pretty well, they put a nice bow on it, and I’m certainly happy that I now have Tony Stark in my quiver and get to play him. I’m hoping the game does well enough where they continue with more.

At the same time, I can also tell you, that there might be another Nathan Drake-type role. I don’t mean a gallivanting adventurer hero, but there may be another great role that isn’t the iconic Iron Man-type character. I don’t know what the future holds, but I’m excited about it because I’ve always been a glass half full kind of guy and I think exciting possibilities are endless, and I’m always looking to find them.
