CBS All Access debuted the first official trailer and key art for the third season of Star Trek: Discovery today during the virtual Star Trek Day celebration, and it reveals that the crew really has gone where no one has gone before… 938 years into the future!
The Season 2 finale saw the crew of the U.S.S. Discovery follow Commander Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) into a wormhole, and it’s now been confirmed that they emerged in the year 3188 – for what sounds like it’s a one-way trip.
Check out the trailer and poster below, and let us know if you plan on checking out Star Trek: Discovery Season 3 when it premieres on October 15.
Bringing hope to the future.
Stream the #StarTrekDay Official Trailer for the new season of #StarTrekDiscovery, premiering October 15, only on @CBSAllAccess. https://t.co/CZ5froqceJ pic.twitter.com/jQJ7BdW3rV— Star Trek on CBS All Access (@startrekcbs) September 8, 2020

After following Commander Burnham into the wormhole in the second season finale, season three of Star Trek: Discovery finds the crew of the U.S.S. Discovery landing in an unknown future far from the home they once knew. Now living in a time filled with uncertainty, the U.S.S. Discovery crew, along with the help of some new friends, must work together to restore hope to the Federation.
Star Trek: Discovery also stars Doug Jones (Commander Saru), Anthony Rapp (Lt. Commander Paul Stamets), Mary Wiseman (Ensign Sylvia Tilly), Wilson Cruz (Dr. Hugh Culber), and Michelle Yeoh (Philippa Georgiou). David Ajala (Cleveland “Book” Booker) and Blu del Barrio (Adira) were recently announced as new cast members.

Production on The Witcher was delayed, so shooting only recently kicked off in the UK. There have been rumblings that the School of the Wolf (where Geralt was trained) will factor into the Netflix series for a while, though, and that means we’ll be spending time inside fortress, Kaer Morhen.
Now, according to Redanian Intelligence, the show is currently shooting an action scene at that iconic location from the books and games, with a number of key cast members present.
Those include Geralt of Rivia, Ciri, Vesemir, Lambert, Eskel, Coën, and Hemrik, along with several other characters who are assumed to be Witchers. It said that actors Jota Castellano, Chuey Okoye, Max Kraus, and Nathanial Jacobs were all present to play those Witchers, though there’s currently no word on who or what this formidable group of warriors will actually be battling.
While the novels make no mention of a major battle taking place during this time period, we know The Witcher is taking some liberties with Andzrej Sapkowski’s work. However, it seems Ciri is going to be trained by Geralt, Vesemir, Lambert, Eskel, and Coën at Kaer Morhen, with the show borrowing elements from Blood of Elves, The Last Wish, and Sword of Destiny.
We’ll keep you updated, but it could be a while before anything official is revealed by Netflix.

Marvel’s Avengers sees Earth’s Mightiest Heroes reassemble to battle A.I.M. and M.O.D.O.K., and both prove to be more than a match for the superhero team. While the game ends in a way which sets the stage for what comes next, there are plenty of hints along the way about what fans can expect from a possible sequel, including who the lead villain will end up being.
With that in mind, we’re now taking a closer look at ten possible bad guys the team could face next time around, based on both what’s revealed in the game and good old-fashioned speculation.
The Avengers have one heck of a rogues gallery, but we’ve chosen these specific villains because of what they could bring to a video game setting (and how much fun it would be to battle them).
To take a look at our top picks, click on the “Next” button below (possible spoilers do follow).

We meet Hank Pym in Marvel’s Avengers, but thanks to A.I.M., if he tries to change size, he’ll die.
That’s bound to have pushed the one-time Ant-Man to the edge, but he’s been focusing his efforts on repurposing A.I.M. tech to create a robotic assistant. There aren’t any Ultron hints just yet, but it definitely feels like things could head in that direction, with Hank potentially heading down a villainous path.
The advantage to a villain like this, of course, is that Earth’s Mightiest Heroes can be pitted against Ultron’s robot army, something which should be as much fun as bashing A.I.M.’s forces.

By the time the game reaches its end, S.H.I.E.L.D. has been reformed, but it’s clearly going to take some time for the world to put their faith in them following the harrowing events of A-Day.
The emergence of a rival unit like H.A.M.M.E.R. has a tonne of potential, and while we doubt it would be led by Norman Osborn, there are other possible villains who could take his place (maybe even a returning M.O.D.O.K. as we never actually see him die following the final battle).
Regardless of whose in charge, if this leads to the introduction of the Dark Avengers, even better!

M.O.D.O.K. unexpectedly takes charge of a Kree Sentinel during his final confrontation with The Avengers, and a mid-credits scene shows some sort of probe being shot from that into outer space.
Common sense says that’s being used to alert the Kree, something that could very well bring them to Earth…or send Earth’s Mightiest Heroes into the cosmos. Either option is massively exciting, especially if it leads to a loose adaptation of the classic Kree/Skrull War from the comic books.
Pitting The Avengers against Kree technology would also be a big upgrade from A.I.M.’s forces.

There have been a number of iterations of the Masters of Evil, and Crystal Dynamics could quite literally take their pick when it comes to which comic book villains assemble to take on The Avengers.
Usually, their main motive is to defeat or humiliate Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, and past leaders have included both Baron Zemos, Ultron, the Mandarin, Klaw, Doctor Octopus, Egghead, the Crimson Cowl, Machinesmith, Whirlwind, the Hood, Jonas Harrow, Max Fury and Lightmaster. We’d be happy to see any one of them take charge, especially as they could all be reinvented for the game.
Plus, this would be the ideal place for the Abomination to make his return to target The Hulk.

While the world now knows that The Avengers aren’t evil, it probably wouldn’t take much for the public to root for a superhero team who weren’t involved with the catastrophe which took place on A-Day.
That’s where the Thunderbolts could come in; introduced as a replacement of sorts for Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, players could be given the opportunity to actually take control of them too, only for it to later be revealed that they’re villains posing as superheroes (just like in the comic books).
This could actually tie into the aforementioned Masters of Evil perfectly, and make for a fun story.

Terrigen was obviously a massive part of Marvel’s Avengers, though its origins were never fully explored. There were certainly hints with that Kree Sentinel appearing, but a sequel has the opportunity to take a deep dive into who and what the Inhumans are and what that means for these heroes.
Arriving on Earth to potentially take their fellow Inhumans “home” to Attilan, Ms. Marvel could find herself stuck in the middle of the two teams, and it would be even better if it means players are able to take control of Black Bolt and company (just imagine being able to unleash his formidable powers).
While we’re sure they would eventually team-up, the Inhumans could make great antagonists to start with.

While Doctor Doom is a Fantastic Four villain, there’s no reason to suspect that he would be off limits to Crystal Dynamics for the Marvel’s Avengers sequel. Taking the team to Latveria would be a blast, and battling Doombots of varying power would make for a nice substitute for A.I.M.
Beyond that, there’s probably a great story which could be told if The Avengers were to invade a sovereign nation, and giving this sequel an even greater international feel really wouldn’t hurt.
Doom is one of the Marvel Universe’s greatest villains, so it would be great to see him get his due here, especially if it coincides with him making his Marvel Cinematic Universe arrival as well.

Time-travel was mentioned in the mid-credits scene, and if Crystal Dynamics can effectively breathe new life into M.O.D.O.K., then the same could no doubt be the case for Kang the Conqueror too.
The prospect of travelling through time as Earth’s Mightiest Heroes is a thrilling one – just picture revisiting World War II as Captain America – and that global “War Table” could be replaced for one that allows players to pick which time period they want to visit for various missions.
Kang is a great villain, and one we haven’t seen anywhere near enough of on screen thus far.

Sent to Earth by Thanos to weaken Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, we got to know the Black Order in Avengers: Infinity War, but they didn’t receive anywhere near as much screentime as they deserved.
For the most part, they were overlooked in that movie, and so a game like this could really do them justice and flesh out their respective story arcs. Each of them would make for great boss battles too, something the first game definitely would have benefited from utilising more often.
Of course, if we’re getting the Black Order, there’s a certain someone who should join them…

Yes, we’ve seen plenty of the Mad Titan on the big screen, but that doesn’t mean a new spin couldn’t be put on him in a sequel to Marvel’s Avengers. After all, there are plenty of stories to pick from to base this game off, and the Infinity Stones are always a fun concept to play around with.
Having to track them down in heist-style missions could be a blast, and a nice way to shake things up in a sequel and potentially move away from some of the concepts introduced in the first game.
There’s a reason Thanos is so beloved, and upgrading Earth’s Mightiest Heroes with cosmic tech should be epic…particularly if it ends up involving the Infinity Stones in some way, shape, or form.

Disney’s live-action remake of Mulan continues to court controversy. Following recent anti-democracy comments made by star Liu Yifei leading to the #BoycottMulan movement, the studio has come under fire for filming parts of the film in China’s Xinjiang Province.
Beijing has been accused of perpetrating human rights abuses against Uighur Muslims on a massive scale in this region, and Disney’s direct association appears to have been uncovered via a “special thanks” in Mulan‘s end credits.
The movie premiered on Disney+ this past Friday, and some viewers noticed that Disney offered their gratitude to eight government entities in Xinjiang, including the public security bureau in the city of Turpan, where China is said to have over a dozen “re-education camps” in operation. These camps are believed to hold Uighur Muslims in extra-judicial detention.
This is obviously not the type of attention Disney will have been hoping for on the heels of Mulan‘s release, but it is important to bring these type of issues to light as Disney – and Hollywood in general – continues to pander to China at every opportunity in the hopes of finding a larger foothold in the Middle Kingdom’s lucrative film industry.
What do you guys make of this development? Let us know in the usual place.

Entertainment Weekly has confirmed a number of directors involved with season 2 of The Mandalorian, noting that executive producer Jon Favreau will make his Star Wars debut by stepping behind the camera for the premiere. That arrives on Disney+ on October 30, and is sure to be something special with the Iron Man director at the helm.
The site also mentions Rick Famuyiwa, who directed two of season 1’s best episodes, Greef Karga actor Carl Weathers, and Star Wars newcomer Robert Rodriguez. There’s no mention of Ant-Man director Peyton Reed who has been rumored to be directing at least one episode of season 2.
As expected, The Mandalorian will return with 8 episodes, though Favreau explains, “There’s probably even variation [in episode lengths] this year.”
George Lucas returned to set for season 2 to watch his one-time protégé Dave Filoni in action, meaning he’s also confirmed as a season 2 director. Known for telling actors to go “faster” and “more intense,” it doesn’t sound like Lucas gave Filoni an easy time.
“He would be giving Dave a hard time about how many setups he was getting and how fast he was shooting and urging him to go faster,” Favreau laughs. “He was like a boxer’s corner man coaching him, but always with a twinkle in his eye.”
The Mandalorian‘s return is among the most anticipated of 2020, and a big deal for Disney+ after the delay of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier last month (and possibly WandaVision as well).
