BATMAN: WB Games Seemingly Teases “Court Of Owls” Reveal For Tomorrow With Cryptic Video

Image

WB Games Montreal has shared a new tease for what’s widely believed to be a new Batman video game via a new “r3dakt3d” Twitter account, and it looks like some kind of announcement might be coming our way tomorrow.

The brief video features computer interface with intermittent background images showing three different crests or logos, one of which certainly appears to be an owl.

The villainous Court of Owls have been rumored to factor into the new Batman game, unofficially known as Gotham Knights, for quite a while now, and WB Games has previously teased the ancient organization with a t-shirt and a series of logos that began to fill out a wider image.

This latest teaser led fans to a website called r3dakt3d.com, which currently features the words, “We have be3n expecting you 8/18”, followed by a 24-hour countdown timer.

Chances are the full trailer won’t be unveiled until DC FanDome this weekend, but we can probably expect more teases in the meantime. There’s definitely something lined up for tomorrow!

SUPERNATURAL Star Jensen Ackles Joins THE BOYS Season 3 As Soldier Boy, The World’s First Superhero

Image

Jensen Ackles recently returned to Vancouver to finish work on Supernatural‘s fifteenth and final season, but he’s now booked his first major gig after playing Dean Winchester for a decade and a half.

According to TV Line, he will reunite with original Supernatural showrunner Eric Kripke for season three of The Boys. There, he will play Soldier Boy, the world’s first superhero celebrity after he fought in World War II. He became an American icon in the years that followed, and is obviously meant to be a parody of Marvel Comics character Captain America.

“When I was a child, I had a crazy, impossible dream — to provide Jensen Ackles with gainful employment,” The Boys showrunner Kripke said in a statement. “I’m happy to say that dream has come true. Jensen is an amazing actor, an even better person, smells like warm chocolate chip cookies, and I consider him a brother.”

“As Soldier Boy, the very first Superhero, he’ll bring so much humor, pathos and danger to the role. I can’t wait to be on set with him again, and bring a bit of Supernatural to The Boys.”

There were two Soldier Boys in Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s comic book series, but Ackles is clearly playing the original (rather than the one who later does everything – literally – he can to join The Seven). The show is bound to put its own unique spin on the character, though, and it should be a lot of fun getting to see Ackles play a very different sort of character on screen.

Plus, don’t forget that he was once a fan-favourite choice to play Captain America online!

Disney+ Could See More Movies Join MULAN Behind That $29.99 Premier Access Paywall

Image

According to an exchange shared by Murphy’s Multiverse, a Disney+ customer service agent has confirmed that more movies will be added to the same PVOD service Mulan arrives on September 4th.

As we reported earlier this month, Disney has decided to have that feature skip a theatrical release, with subscribers to their streaming service paying $29.99 to watch it (they’ll then get to keep it providing they remain subscribed to Disney+). It’s a unique approach, and one that’s generated a lot of discussion, both good and bad.

The interaction shared by the site reads, “As per checking in our data that the $29.99 is on top of your yearly subscription and your premier access for now we have the Mulan but when the time goes by the premier access will be more updated and more movies to watch.”

Now, this should be taken with a grain of salt because Disney CEO Bob Chapel did say Mulan would be a one-off, but you have to believe the movie’s unique release method is being used to test the waters for future releases, especially given the current, uncertain climate.

How much this customer service agent really knows about future plans is also worth noting, but there’s definitely something to this, and it’s hard to now not wonder whether a couple of high-profile Marvel movies could follow.

What do you guys think?

THE BATMAN (And THE SUICIDE SQUAD) Footage Expected To Be Shown During DC FanDome Event Next Weekend

Image

The DC FanDome schedule has generated a lot of headlines over the last 24 hours, and fans are speculating wildly about what they can expect from the virtual comic convention.

The Wrap, however, has dropped a scoop confirming that “[Matt] Reeves joins host Aisha Tyler to talk [The Batman] up and treat fans to some new footage.” As the site notes, 7 weeks of filming concluded before the production shut down, and though there’s another 11 to go, there’s plenty Warner Bros. could share with fans.

James Gunn is also teasing fans on Twitter, promises “a glimpse” of The Suicide Squad on August 22 before later confirming that we will finally find out who is playing who during the DC FanDome panel.

A sizzle reel or teaser trailer is surely possible, but it could be that Warner Bros. decides that confiming each member of Task Force X is enough to get fans excited for the time being!
