Mark Ruffalo Confirms SHE-HULK Talks And Says There Are Currently No Plans For A HULK Movie

Complicated distribution rights issues with Universal Pictures means Disney can’t make a Hulk movie, but if Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige want it to happen, you have to believe it could become a reality. Alas, Mark Ruffalo has now confirmed in an interview with Variety that there are no plans for the mighty Avenger to get his own solo flick.

He did, however, confirm that there have been talks about The Hulk appearing in Disney+’s She-Hulk

“There’s some talk of having Banner/Hulk show up in [the Disney Plus series] She-Hulk,” Ruffalo revealed. “If we come up with something good, that would be really interesting. Right now that’s about it. That’s all there is on the table.” Clearly, it will take more than a glorified cameo appearance to convince the actor this small screen role is worth his time.

Ruffalo went on to reflect on his time as the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Hulk, and admitted that it was The Avengers director Joss Whedon and star Robert Downey Jr. who talked him into the role.

“I did try to talk them out of casting me…I said, ‘I don’t know if I’m the right guy, I’ve never done anything like this.’ Between Joss and Robert, they were pretty convincing that I could do it. I was scared. I was really scared. I’m still scared. The technological aspect of it makes it really hard to work that way. I struggle with it all the time. But my motto is make fear your friend.”

“Just keep pushing yourself into those places where you feel scared or challenged,” he adds.

Disney Is Slated To Open A New Film Pretty Much Every Week For The Rest Of The Year Once Theaters Reopen

Image

Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, theaters have been shut down indefinitely, which has forced a number of top studios, including Walt Disney Studios, Universal Pictures, Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures, and Warner Bros. Pictures, to push back some of their biggest films from this summer to either later this year or into the next.

While it remains to be seen exactly when theaters will be able to reopen safely across the globe, Disney has optimistically shared their updated theatrical release calendar for 2020, and it looks like they find themselves in quite a unique predicament as they are currently positioned to open a new title almost every week for the rest of the year.

Out of the nineteen remaining weekends remaining in the year, starting with Mulan on July 24, the House of Mouse is slated to open new films from Walt Disney Pictures, 20th Century Studios, Searchlight Pictures, Disney/Pixar and Marvel Studios on fourteen of those weekends.

There have been some rumblings that films currently set for July/August will also be forced to move back, but for now, it looks like Disney is counting on at least some level of normalcy returning before Labor Day.
