Nicolas Cage may have become more meme than man, but in between all of his insane genre films, once in a while he still manages to deliver a straightforward dramatic performance capable of reminding everyone why he’s always been lauded by his peers and fans as one of his generation’s best talents. And Pig looks as though it could serve as that reminder.

The plot follows the Academy Award winner as a mushroom forager named Rob who lives alone in the wilderness with his prized truffle hunter, before he’s forced to venture back into the big city after his prized pig is kidnapped. But even then, that’s one of the more regular-sounding movies he’s appeared in for a spell.

The premise might sound a touch on the ludicrous side, but the trailer comes packing plenty of atmosphere and doesn’t feature a single scene of the actor devolving into his signature mania. While it’s been a long time since we’ve seen Cage fully invest himself in something so character-driven, which should make Pig appointment viewing for his army of supporters. Michael Sarnoski’s directorial debut is less than a month away, too, with the drama arriving on July 16th.

It’s been a busy period even by the prolific standards of Nicolas Cage, who’s been seen in bonkers supernatural thriller Prisoners of the Ghostland and contained amusement park horror comedy Willy’s Wonderland already this year, as well as hosting the Netflix docuseries History of Swear Words. On top of that, he’ll also be seen playing a fictionalized version of himself in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, and is currently shooting actioner The Retirement Plan in the Cayman Islands with Ron Perlman.

Welcome to Gotham City. HBO Max dropped the first teaser trailer for Titans season 3 this Thursday, and it previews the young superhero team relocating to Batman’s hometown. The hit live-action adaptation of the Teen Titans proved to be one of the now-defunct DC Universe’s biggest hits, and the WarnerMedia streamer will be looking to repeat its success when season 3 arrives later this year. The good news is this trailer promises that fans have much to look forward to. Catch it in the player above.

One of the big draws of the new run is the debut of Red Hood, as Curran Walters’ Jason Todd will officially take on his second superhero identity this time around. Comic book fans will know that Jason usually becomes Red Hood after being brutally beaten by the Joker. It’s unknown if this will be adapted for the show, but the first scene of this trailer definitely teases his fate, as Jason is shown to break into an old fairground where the Clown Prince may be waiting for him.

Today has also brought a first-look image of the Titans version of Scarecrow, as played by Vincent Kartheiser, and the villain can be glimpsed in his cell at Arkham Asylum in this trailer. The promo stops short of revealing the other major newcomer we’re all waiting to meet, however — Savanna Welch’s Barbara Gordon. The former Batgirl will be depicted as Gotham’s Police Commissioner, having a combative relationship with ex-mentor Bruce Wayne (returning guest star Iain Glen) and a romantic one with Nightwing (Brenton Thwaites).

Also featuring Anna Diop (Starfire), Alan Ritchson (Hawk), Minka Kelly (Dove), Teagan Croft (Raven), Ryan Potter (Beast Boy) and Joshua Orpin (Superboy), Titans season 3 is all set to debut on HBO Max this August 12th. In the meantime, the first two seasons are available to stream now on the platform.

Q is back! In April, Paramount Plus debuted the first teaser for Star Trek: Picard season 2 and, while it didn’t feature any actual footage from the upcoming run, it did contain a voiceover from John de Lancie, which promised that the iconic Next Generation guest star would be returning as Q in the sophomore outing of the Patrick Stewart series.

To mark Captain Picard Day this June 16th, the streamer has now unveiled our first proper trailer, which is made up of clips from season 2, including a look at Q in the flesh. The teaser even reveals the first moment Picard lays eyes on his old enemy again after so many years, with the interdimensional trickster appearing to Jean-Luc in his vineyard home.

New Star Trek: Picard Photos Reveal First Look At Season 1 Finale

As you can see, they haven’t attempted to de-age de Lancie with makeup and CGI like they did with Brent Spiner’s Data in season 1, instead using the actor’s mature years to revamp the character’s look – Q’s now sporting white hair and a matching beard. Some fans may feel it doesn’t make sense for Q to age at the same rate as the human characters, but presumably he’s just assumed this form to match Picard’s own aged appearance, which he even makes a reference to in the promo.

As for why he’s turned up on Jean-Luc’s doorstep, the rest of the trailer teases that “time is broken,” a crisis that seems to throw the Starfleet legend and the crew of La Sirena for a loop. Likewise, the teaser’s stinger hints that Seven (Jeri Ryan) might not be as done with the Borg Collective as she’d like to be. No doubt an after-effect of her briefly becoming a Borg Queen in season 1.

This is a much-appreciated treat for Captain Picard Day, though it’s also kind of cruel for Paramount Plus to tease us like this as we won’t see Star Trek: Picard season 2 debut on the platform until 2022. Can time break for real so we can watch it now?

Before American Horror Story season 10 gets here later this summer, AHS fans have got the first run of the hit show’s brand new spinoff to enjoy. American Horror Stories is an episodic anthology series that offers up a different disturbing tale each week. And ahead of its premiere next month, the first teaser trailer for the FX production debuted this Tuesday, hinting at the chills and spills that are to come.

“Fear takes new forms,” promises the trailer. At only 15 seconds in length, though, it doesn’t give much away about the spinoff at all, apart from teasing a creature who’ll presumably appear in one episode – what looks to be a female demon with horns, surrounded by fire.

Creator Ryan Murphy has previously described Stories as being made up of “one hour standalone episodes delving into horror myths, legends and lore.” He then also added: “Many will feature AHS stars you know and love.” Presumably those crossovers cameos are being kept under wraps, though, as the cast members announced so far are mostly newcomers to the AHS universe, but many have worked with Murphy elsewhere. Those set to appear include Kevin McHale (Glee), Paris Jackson (Gringo) and Danny Trejo (Machete). Charles Melton is the only AHS alum to be confirmed to guest star, with the Riverdale actor already having featured in two episodes of AHS: Hotel as Mr. Wu.

American Horror Stories, which clocks in at seven outings long, is set to debut its first two installments on FX on Hulu on July 15th. It’ll serve as the perfect lead-in to American Horror Story season 10, titled Double Feature, which launches after its spinoff concludes on August 25th. Fans are being spoiled this summer, then, and all the bone-chilling goodness kicks off in just one month’s time.

Back 4 Blood, like its spiritual predecessor Left 4 Dead, is going to give players ample opportunity to test their skills against one another when it arrives later this year.

For those not aware, Turtle Rock Studios’ first major project since the now sadly defunct (officially, at least) Evolve kits out a team of four human survivors before giving them an encouraging nudge out of the safe room to battle the Ridden, or zombies, as almost everyone colloquially refers to them as. The job from here is simple: do everything in your power to endure wave after wave of mutant monstrosities in order to reach a faraway checkpoint then rinse and repeat until the final objective is complete. To spice things up, Turtle Rock has peppered various objectives around the map and an unseen force, referred to only as the Director, will dynamically adjust difficulty to keep gameplay feeling fresh on repeat playthroughs.

If, however, you eventually tire of that admittedly addictive PvE loop, there’s an alternative in the form of Swarm, a competitive 4v4 mode which works similarly to campaigns but with a twist. While rank-and-file Ridden in this playlist will still be AI-controlled, Special infected units such as the Blood Ogre will have an opposing player behind the wheel, so to speak, upping their deadly factor considerably.

Each match of Swarm will last for two rounds (survivors will become the infected and vice versa), with the overall victor being determined by performance. Arsenal upgrades can be earned by racking up kills, though it remains to be seen if the title’s unique card-based progression system will be available here. It’s also currently unknown how each individual will choose their infected type or if the game will simply work on a lottery model.

Expect more details on both fronts to surface ahead of Back 4 Blood‘s open beta on August 12th.

Shooting on Netflix’s fantasy blockbuster The School for Good and Evil has only been underway since the end of January, but the streaming service have already revealed the first clip from the literary adaptation. Admittedly, it runs for just a few seconds and doesn’t offer much in the way of information, but it nonetheless gives us a feel for the look and tone of the movie.

It’s relatively uncharted territory for director Paul Feig, who broke out in a big way with broad studio comedies Bridesmaids, The Heat and Spy, before incurring the wrath of the internet for daring to reboot Ghostbusters, which wound up bombing at the box office and generating an intense amount of online vitriol.

However, he’s since followed it up with polished blackly comic crime thriller A Simple Favor and saccharine festive rom-com Last Christmas, before circling back around to the world of star-powered projects with big budgets, making his feature-length streaming debut in the process.

First Look At Charlize Theron In New Netflix Fantasy Movie

The cast is headlined by Sophia Anne Caruso and Sofia Wylie as best friends Sophie and Agatha, who attend the titular institute. Students are trained to become either heroes or villains, and it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that it’ll lead to some conflict between the protagonists after they get separated and set on different paths. The School of Good and Evil is the first entry in a six-book series, so Netflix are clearly banking on franchise potential, with some big names having boarded the cast including Charlize Theron, Laurence Fishburne, Kerry Washington and Michelle Yeoh

Back 4 Blood will have plenty of mindless fodder for players to plow through during the course of its campaign, but one would be wise not to let the undead horde’s relative lack of intelligence establish a false sense of security. Similar to its spiritual predecessor (developer Turtle Rock Studios created the original Left 4 Dead under Valve), this modern day take on the classic genre plays host to a number of ‘special infected,’ if you will, each of which boasts a unique ability and more often than not an incredible physical mass far beyond that of ordinary humanoids.

Some of these, such as Retches and the mighty Blood Ogre (pictured below), have already been previewed in promotional material, but it would seem as if even the latter’s size is dwarfed by the monstrosity revealed in yesterday’s announcement.

Alongside confirmation that the game’s open beta is due to go ahead later this year, a cinematic trailer shown at Summer Game Fest ripped back the curtain on what can only be described as a monolithic entity with teeth the size of buildings. The creature and its gaping maw are glimpsed just briefly towards the end of the footage, but this is purely pre-rendered and not in-engine, so it remains to be seen how it’ll appear when players are inevitably tasked with putting down the threat for good.

Chances are, this will be one of several bosses encountered throughout the story or perhaps even the final boss itself, though we imagine Turtle Rock wouldn’t be that eager to show its hand this far out from launch. With any luck, fans will have a chance to take on the beast during August’s aforementioned open beta.

Back 4 Blood arrives October 12th for Xbox One, Series X|S, PS4, PS5 and PC.

The Resident Evil franchise celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2021 and it’s shaping to be the biggest year to date for fans. The awesome Resident Evil Village has provided a cool new entry in the mainline series, but we’re also getting shows about New Raccoon City and Albert Wesker’s children, a live-action adaptation of the first two games in the form of Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City and Netflix’s CGI Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness.

This episodic effort will star Resident Evil 2 heroes Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield in a story set between Resident Evil 4 and 5. The official synopsis says we’ll see the White House targeted by B.O.W.s, which will lead into a tale that unearths secrets from the series’ past. And, of course, along the way there’ll be all manner of undead horrors and gooey biological monstrosities.

Netflix and Capcom have pointed out that this will be in canon with the games, which makes it required watching for anyone caught up in Resident Evil’s tangled web of evil pharmaceutical companies, flamboyant villains and bizarre locations. And now, we have a look at the opening scene (up above), which shows a helicopter crash and soldiers disobeying orders to rescue their comrades.

The quality of the CGI is impressive and the action well shot, but let’s be honest here, there’s absolutely nothing in this clip that says Resident Evil. Presumably, the situation these soldiers are in is more fantastical than it initially appears, but this could be a generic trailer for a Call of Duty or Battlefield game.

Then again, the franchise has appeared in many forms over the years and (despite there being no monsters), this does resemble Chris Redfield’s campaign in Resident Evil 6 (though fans will know that isn’t exactly a good omen). Oh well, I’m sure the tone will shift for the better once Leon and Claire show up.

Fortunately, we don’t have long to wait, as Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness will premiere on Netflix in less than a month, on July 8th.

Bruce Willis is back in dark crime thriller Midnight in the Switchgrass, continuing the Die Hard legend’s prolific streak of VOD movies released over the past year. In fact, this one is his fifth to come out in the last 12 months.

In this case, Willis is paired up with Megan Fox, as the duo play two detectives on the hunt for a brutal serial killer in rural Texas. The new trailer for the upcoming film debuted online today and as you can see, it’s clearly more Fox’s show than it is Willis’, with the former Transformers actress being called on to carry the gritty drama while Bruce pretty much just does his thing.

Fox plays Rebecca Lombardi, an FBI agent who goes undercover in order to lure out those responsible for a sex trafficking ring. However, when she’s abducted by her target, her partner Karl Helter (Willis) and Texas Ranger Byron Crawford (Emile Hirsch) have just hours to save her.

The cast also includes Aquaman‘s Michael Beach, Lukas Haas (First Man), rapper Machine Gun Kelly – Fox’s partner, credited under his real name, Colson Baker – and Sistine Stallone, daughter of Willis’ good pal Sylvester. Midnight in the Switchgrass is based on the true story of Texas’ most notorious serial killer and is directed by Randall Emmett (producer of The Irishman). And you can look out for it when it reaches VOD in about six weeks’ time, on July 23rd.

After that, Bruce Willis will continue to churn out even more straight-to-digital films, with the likes of sci-fi Soul Assassin, thriller Killing Field and actioner A Day To Die due in 2022. Of course, at this point, fans know what they’re getting with the actor’s current output, but maybe Midnight in the Switchgrass will end up packing more of a punch than most of his recent projects.

25 years after Michael Jordan shot hoops with Bugs Bunny, the Tune Squad is back to team up with LeBron James this time for Space Jam: A New Legacy – and it promises to be one of the biggest movies of the year. It’s certainly been one of the most-discussed, with the sequel frequently trending on social media for reasons both good and bad. And it’s about to break the internet again with this latest trailer, which teases more crossover mayhem.

The unique USP of New Legacy is that, on top of having the Looney Tunes interact with the basketball legend, it will also dive into the wider Warner Bros. multiverse and feature cameos from numerous legendary characters from WB’s back catalog. See if you can spot any we haven’t seen before in previous trailers in this new promo, which you can catch in the player above.

With a movie like this, plot really isn’t what you’re watching for, but the synopsis teases that when they’re trapped in virtual reality the Serververse by an evil A.I. named Al-G Rhythm (Don Cheadle), the only way James can save his son Dom (Cedric Joe) is by leading Bugs, Daffy and company to victory in a basketball match against the Goon Squad, virtual avatars of other basketball stars like Klay Thompson, Anthony Davis and Damian Lillard.

While the reaction to what we’ve seen of the movie so far has been pretty positive, the whole ‘Pepé Le Pew getting cancelled‘ debacle has overshadowed some of the hype somewhat, as has the mixed reception to Zendaya being cast as Lola Bunny, with some fans feeling the MCU actress’ voice doesn’t fit the character.

Still, we’re fully expecting Space Jam: A New Legacy to make a big impact when it finally debuts in theaters and on HBO Max – for 30 days – in just over a month’s time on July 16th.
