Another emerald archer is coming to Star City…

Variety is reporting that Madison McLaughlin (Chicago P.D.) has signed on to return as Evelyn Sharp in Arrow season five, but instead of becoming the Black Canary 3.0, she'll be forging her own identity as Artemis. McLaughlin will recur throughout the season with her arc starting in episode 502.

Further details on the extent of her role were unavailable, but it's likely the show will follow Artemis' arc from the DC animated series Young Justice, which saw her become the Green Arrow's sidekick following the departure of Roy Harper. Barring any unforeseen twist, it's unlikely the show will explore her parents, the villains Tigress & Sportsmaster, who are both presumed dead in the Arrow universe.
