Watch: Rockstar Officially Reveals Grand Theft Auto Trilogy Remaster With New Trailer

x

It’s official: a classic Grand Theft Auto trilogy is coming to almost every conceivable modern gaming platform, reportedly with graphical and gameplay improvements beginning later this year.

Per a teaser trailer released by Rockstar Games, which you can view above, the games will include the first three mainline home console games that first ventured into fully 3D: Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

The release, which is called Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, will reportedly be coming to PlayStation 5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Switch, and PC in late 2021, with iOS and Android releases coming in 2022.

Rockstar Games reportedly said that despite improvements to how it plays and looks, it will still stay true to its original incarnations.

grand theft auto trilogy

The series originally began way back in 1997 with the original Grand Theft Auto for PS1, taking a top-down perspective that utilized some 3D elements but was by and large 2D overall. A sequel utilizing that same style was then released in 1999 on PS1 and Dreamcast.

It wasn’t until 2001’s Grand Theft Auto III for the PS2 that the series truly revolutionized gaming as we know it, utilizing a fully rendered, immerse, polygonal open world where players could choose to progress through the story missions if they wanted to, or simply play around in the vast sandbox bringing mayhem to Liberty City.

The franchise has proven to be hugely influential and remains a success to this day, with its latest installment, Grand Theft Auto V, becoming the fastest-selling entertainment product in history when it was released back in 2013.

Watch: New Trailer & Opening For Blade Runner: Black Lotus + New Key Visuals

x

A new anime series based on the Blade Runner franchise is coming to the Toonami block of Adult Swim.

The show’s called Blade Runner: Black Lotus and it’s set after the events in the anime short Blade Runner: Black Out 2022 but before the events in the Blade Runner 2049 movie. Instead of focusing on the private detective angle, Black Lotus is told from the perspective of the replicants.

The show is the result of a partnership between Adult Swim and Alcon Entertainment. It has 13 episodes and will feature familiar characters from the series. You can check out new key visuals for the show below:

The original Blade Runner movie, starring Harrison Ford, was a hit when it came out in 1982. It’s set in a dystopian, neon future where synthetic humans named replicants are manufactured by an evil entity called the Tyrell Corporation. It’s based on a Philip K. Dick short story called Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?

The anime’s style is sleek and modern looking, with the same drippy, noir feel of the original. It stars (English/Japanese) Jessica Henwick/Arisa Shida as main character Elle, Will Yun Lee/Shinshu Fuji as junkyard owner Joseph and Samira Wiley/Takako Honda as a young LAPD recruit.

Details of the plot are fairly vague so far, but we do know that Elle wants revenge and to “kill them all” for something that happened to her, but we don’t know exactly what that is. Perhaps we can figure out a few more hints from the opening to the show that Crunchyroll just shared as well.

Blade Runner: Black Lotus is directed by Shinji Aramaki and Kenji Kamiyama. Shinichiro Watanabe, famous anime director behind Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo, serves as a creative producer.

The show will air on Adult Swim’s Toonami block with an English dub and on Crunchyroll in Japanese with subtitles. Pop singer Alessia Cara performs the opening song Feel You Now.

The show premieres at midnight on November 13 on both platforms.

Watch: Back 4 Blood Launch Trailer

x

A new trailer for Back 4 Blood anticipates shooting, slashing, and a lot more shooting to come in the upcoming cooperative survival game.

The title is developed by Turtle Rock Studios, the team behind Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2. The studio split from Valve in 2010, losing the rights to the cult classic zombie co-op survival shooter, and would go on to develop Evolve. Now, the studio returns to zombie-bound co-op with what’s been heralded as the spiritual successor to Left 4 Dead.

Back 4 Blood will support 4 player co-op and 8 player PvP. It introduces a novel mechanic with deck-building, equipping players with stat-enhancing cards during combat. Described as a rogue-lite system, the mechanic aims to change up each playthrough by favoring different builds and styles of combat each run.

But perhaps the biggest change is the tonal shift of Back 4 Blood. While Left 4 Dead was grim, even haunting at times, Back 4 Blood is more colorful. It’s even in the tagline: Come Slay With Us. The “us” you play as are a group called the Cleaners while humans take the upper hand in the larger fight to rid their world of zombie hordes. You’ll be able to play as eight different Cleaners in the campaign, one of whom, “Mom,” is notably voiced by Barbara Crampton.

Back 4 Blood launches on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, PS4, PS5, the Xbox family of systems, and Game Pass on October 12th Early access opens on October 8th for those who pre-order the Deluxe or Ultimate editions.

Watch: This Wedding’s Father Daughter Dance Was A Lightsaber Duel

With just how much Star Wars fans love the franchise, there’s obviously been a fair share of weddings themed in a galaxy far, far away. Still, it’s when loved ones get creative with themes from the franchise to make their special days truly memorable where the force is truly with people.

Fans with the franchise have been appreciating the video on Reddit where some playfully creativity was set to work to help a father who uses a wheelchair have a special “father daughter dance” that is unforgettable. The idea to have a lightsaber duel isn’t just fun, but it’s an amazing way to break beyond tradition while maintaining her father’s comfort and happiness.

Watch: Two Spine-Tingling Clips From Netflix’s No One Gets Out Alive

x

The spookiest time of the year is upon us, and everyone is binging horror classics, diving into new terrifying film and tv series, and surrounding themselves with the type of entertainment that makes it hard to sleep at night. The ghouls and goblins, witches, and even the crazed killers are making their way back to the forefront of the pop culture realm.

Many streaming services have already released their fun and frightening lineups for the Halloween season, and one of those is Netflix. With an impressive array of old favorites and new releases, fans won’t have to skimp on the spooky factor this year.

One of those is the upcoming film; No One Gets Out Alive, coming to Netflix on September 29th. The synopsis for the film, provided by Netflix, is as follows.

Desperate and without documentation, a woman from Mexico moves into a rundown Cleveland boardinghouse. Then the unsettling cries and eerie visions begin.

The film stars Cristina Rodlo, Marc Menchaca, David Figlioli and is based on a novel, of the same name, by horror writer Adam Nevill. The novel description gives more detail into what the young woman’s life will look like in the Netflix horror film.

As the tenant experiences life in the boardinghouse, strange occurrences and visions plague her and she suddenly realizes that the life she tried to escape from might have been a lesser evil compared to what she’s found. It’s a supernatural-horror book, and the Netflix film will follow suit, so it won’t be an easy watch for those who are genuinely spooked by the idea of ghosts and supernatural frights.

Bloody Disgusting premiered two clips from the upcoming film today. Santiago Menghini, director of the film, shared information about each clip with BD, and of the first, the shower scene, Menghini had this to say about what he was hoping to accomplish.

“In this scene, Ambar is beginning to understand that all is not what it seems in this house… that the bumps and creaks she hears in the night might not just be expanding pipes. They might be screams…I wanted to play with the use of sound to build mystery and dread. Uncertainty feeds anxiety. From this point on, it is clear something is terribly wrong with this house.”

In an additional scene, Amber is faced with a fear different from the ghosts and spirits that inhabit her building. Menghini had this to say about the clip and the horror it builds. It truly is spine-tingling.

“This scene was great fun to design. I was always struck by the image of the sobbing woman at the end of the corridor. Should Ambar approach or run away? With this film the aim is always to keep the audience on their toes – just when they think they know what’s going on, we want to throw a new element into the mix.”

No One Gets Out Alive hits Netflix on September 29th.

Watch: Chucky Goes To School In New Clip From Child’s Play TV Series

x

Chucky returns to our screens in just a few weeks for his very own self-titled TV series. The first small-screen spinoff of the Child’s Play franchise, Chucky promises to take the character back to basics, removing much of the campy humor from the later films and restoring the emphasis on horror. At the same time, it’s also reinventing the wheel a little and giving the series a teen-oriented slant. What the show is going for is effectively displayed in this first clip from the premiere episode, which is hitting Syfy in October.

The clip begins with introverted teen Jake (Zachary Arthur) as he’s tasked with dissecting a frog in class. Unfortunately for Jake, blood makes him squeamish — so it’s kind of awkward that he’s brought a Good Guy possessed by a serial killer to school with him. When Jake goes faint after making an incision into the frog’s abdomen, he puts the scalpel in front of the smiling Chucky doll. But when he looks back, he sees the scalpel impaled in the frog’s carcass which has now been gutted.

Though we don’t hear him speak in this sneak peek, Brad Dourif is once again returning as the voice of Charles Lee Ray. What’s more, he’s joined by various other franchise favorites including Jennifer Tilly as Tiffany Valentine, real-life daughter Fiona Dourif as Nica Pierce and Alex Vincent as Andy Barclay. Meanwhile, Final Destination‘s Devon Sawa is also in the cast in a dual role as Jake’s dad and his twin brother.

Once again, creator Don Mancini is behind the camera, writing and directing the pilot episode. He’s previously promised that Chucky will deliver all the scares and laughs fans will be hoping for, as well as offering up a deeper emotional core than they might be expecting through Jake’s storyline. Remember, we’ll also be getting Chucky’s childhood explored at last as we learn what turned him into a killer in the first place.

Chucky debuts on Syfy and USA Network on October 12th.
