The Witcher‘s first-ever fan convention is due to go ahead next month, bringing followers of the franchise all the latest news on Geralt of Rivia’s adventures present and future, and we now have a teaser video to whet our appetite for what’s to come.
Announced earlier this year, WitcherCon will serve as a convergence point for everything relating to Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski’s source material, including Netflix’s hit TV series of the same name. Indeed, even CD Projekt RED, the studio responsible for creating Geralt’s critically acclaimed video game escapades, will be in attendance, prompting many to suspect that the developer will have a new title to reveal at the event. Pure speculation, of course, and it’s just as likely that the company will be eager to hold off on confirming anything too early for fear of repeating the fate that befell last year’s Cyberpunk 2077.
In terms of fixtures that virtual audiences can bank on taking place, though: panels featuring cast and crew members of the aforementioned live-action show will be present to hopefully share some teasers for the upcoming season.
The first ever #WitcherCon begins July 9th!
🚪 Get ready to step through the portal and join us and @WitcherNetflix for exciting news, reveals… and a few surprises!

Last, but certainly not least, there’s a good chance viewers will get more information on Blood Origin and/or Nightmare of the Wolf. The former, a prequel series set more than 1,000 years prior to the events of The Witcher, recently entered full production, while the latter is an animated film produced by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich. This, too, will be a spinoff and document Geralt’s earlier years as a monster hunter alongside friend and mentor, Vesemir. Nightmare of the Wolf is scheduled for release sometime this year.
WitcherCon takes place next month, July 9th. We’ll be covering all the big news as and when it breaks, so stay tuned!
Disney Plus today dropped a new promo for its hit animated series Star Wars: The Bad Batch now that it’s past the halfway mark of its first – of many, we hope – season. It’s mostly a recap of the events of the first eight episodes, likely aimed at hooking in any viewers yet to catch up on the show, but there is a sprinkling of fresh footage hidden in there too. Watch it for yourself in the player above.
The trailer reminds us of the central premise of the series. Following the rise of the Empire, Clone Force 99 AKA the Bad Batch, a group of genetically enhanced clones who weren’t turned during Order 66, have gone rogue as they protect a mysterious young female clone named Omega from the bounty hunters sent after her. Their most dangerous foe, however, is Crosshairs, formerly one of their own who’s gone over to the Dark Side.

One of the hunters on Omega’s tail is Fennec Shand, with Ming-Na Wen reprising her role from The Mandalorian. The promo features a clip from a previously unseen meeting between Shand and Omega, so we know we’ve got that to come. Conspicuous for his absence in this trailer, however, is Cad Bane. The fan favorite bounty hunter, who hasn’t been seen since The Clone Wars, made a shock comeback in last week’s episode as he got his hands on Omega.
Disney clearly decided to keep that spoiler under their hats for this trail, but fans can’t wait to see more from Bane now he’s back. The good news is that the next episode arrives tomorrow. With the first eight behind us, we’ve still got another eight to go of this 16-part first season. A renewal has yet to be made but it feels like a safe bet, given the popularity of what you might call the Filoniverse. Don’t miss Star Wars: The Bad Batch as it continues Fridays on Disney Plus.
Loki episode 3 might have seen Tom Hiddleston’s God of Mischief teaming up with Sophia Di Martino’s Sylvie, but it still left us none the wiser as to who she really is. The TVA and Loki himself believe she’s a female Loki variant, but Sylvie seems to hate it when she’s called that. And what with sharing a name with the Enchantress, fans have suspected that there may be another twist coming concerning her true identity.
Well, Marvel Studios has released a new featurette for the second half of the hit series, which you can catch in the player above, and it provides us with a couple of fresh clips that offer a tease at Sylvie’s beginnings. Starting at the 0:36 mark, we get about 10 seconds of original material. First of all, we see Sylvie being brought in by the TVA, which may reveal how she and Loki get off Lamentis-1 before it’s destroyed, following ep 3’s cliffhanger.
Next, there’s a shot of Young Sylvie, as played by The Walking Dead‘s Cailey Fleming. This one is particularly intriguing, as her childhood self has also been apprehended by the TVA, as we see one of the Minutemen escorting her through a time window. It looks like Sylvie started causing temporal trouble when she was very young indeed.

The last new clip shows a glum-looking Sylvie and Loki sharing a moment on Lamentis – no doubt they’re down in the dumps because they think they’re about to die. This appears to lead Sylvie to open up some more. “The universe wants to break free so it manifests chaos, like me,” she tells Loki, perhaps explaining part of the reason why she’s dedicated herself to fighting against the TVA. Like the Joker, she’s an agent of chaos not order.
Most evidence is definitely pointing to her being a Loki variant and not Enchantress, but it’s still difficult to say for sure. This featurette only confuses things more. “She’s another version of Loki,” states Di Martino, while director Kate Herron adds: “She’s Sylvie, not Loki.” So which one is it?
The answers will unfold as Loki continues next Wednesday on Disney Plus.
You wait a lifetime for Idris Elba to star in a cowboy movie and two come along in the same year. Following Concrete Cowboy arriving on Netflix this past April, the British actor is back in a stetson for his next project, but this time it’s a full-blown period western. And it’s another Netflix production. The streaming giant has released the first trailer for The Harder They Fall, a stylish, star-studded Wild West actioner that’s coming soon.
Elba is playing Rufus Buck, the villain of the piece, but this trailer focusses on the Luther star as he’s busted out of custody by his cronies, Cherokee Bill and Treacherous Trudy Smith – as played by LaKeith Stanfield and Regina King, who are shown hijacking a train in order to retrieve their boss. The trio of outlaws won’t get away scot-free, however, as they’ll face off against white-hat Nat Love (Jonathan Majors) and his crew as he seeks revenge against Elba’s Buck. Riding with Love are his ex, Stagecoach Mary (Zazie Beetz), and right-hand men Bill Pickett (Edi Gathegi) and Jim Beckwourth (R.J. Cyler). Delroy Lindo, Danielle Deadwyler and Damon Wayans Jr. also feature.

It’s clear from just this trailer alone that everyone involved had a blast on this film, though from what we can tell Elba and King look to be the standouts of the incredible ensemble. Jeymes Samuel is on directing duties, with Jay Z producing. Samuels – also known by his stage name The Bullitts – and Jay Z previously handled the score for Baz Lurhmann’s banger-filled The Great Gatsby, and this trailer promises that they’ve concocted another killer soundtrack for this, Samuels’ directorial debut.
With its top-draw, all-POC cast, a Tarantino-esque sense of style and great music to boot, The Harder They Fall promises to be a must-see movie. A release date has yet to be revealed, but we can expect it to stream on Netflix sometime this summer.

Over the last decade or so, Bruce Willis has almost become the walking embodiment of the age-old question; Working hard, or hardly working?
In the Die Hard legend’s case, the answer has been both. The actor has Out of Death and Midnight in the Switchgrass arriving within one week of each other next month, and he’s already shown up in four VOD action thrillers over the last fourteen months. The first trailer for the former has now arrived and it looks like standard bargain basement fare, with Willis appearing to give his usual phoned-in performance.
The plot follows a witness who stumbles upon police corruption in a small town, and Willis’ veteran cop happens to show up just in the nick of time, forcing them to team up to evade the bad guys. In all honesty, it doesn’t look great, and the promo gives the majority of the plot away just in case you were on the fence about checking it out.

One of these days, the former A-lister is going to deliver a memorable turn to remind audiences that he was once one of the biggest names in the business, but Out of Death won’t be it as his rapid fire filmography continues to rack up the numbers. Just how many VOD genre films does Bruce Willis have in various stages of development, you may ask? Incredibly, the answer is nine.
Reactor, Apex, American Siege, Gasoline Alley, The Fortress, A Day to Die, Killing Field, White Elephant and Paradise City are all scheduled for release over the next year, as the 66 year-old continues to usurp Nicolas Cage as B-tier action cinema’s busiest name.
Scooby-Doo has crossed over with a lot of iconic characters over his 50 years on our screens, but his latest team-up is such a perfect match it’s just surprising it’s never happened before. This fall, get ready for the Great Dane to meet that other talking cartoon dog who’s known for running away from monsters. That’s right, the Mystery Inc. gang is about to encounter Courage the Cowardly Dog in a new upcoming animated film. Check out the trailer for Straight Outta Nowhere: Scooby-Doo Meets Courage the Cowardly Dog via the player above.
The trailer reveals Scooby, Shaggy and the gang ending up in Courage’s hometown of Nowhere, the mid-Kansas neighborhood where more creepy and mysterious stuff happens than anywhere else in the world (at least that’s what it says on the town flag). As you’d expect, the two pooches get on like a house on fire – when they aren’t being chased around by gigantic cicada monsters, that is. Here’s what the official synopsis teases is in store:
“Comedy is unleashed when Scooby-Doo, your favorite mystery-solving mutt, teams up for the first time with Courage the Cowardly Dog. The canine colleagues sniff out a strange object in the middle of Nowhere, Kansas, the backwoods hometown of Courage and his owners, Eustace and Muriel Bagge. Soon, the mysterious discovery puts them on the trail of a giant cicada monster and her wacky winged warriors. Fred, Velma, Daphne and Shaggy know that this job is too big for a flyswatter. They’ll need the help of the doggy duo to piece together the puzzle. Can Scooby and Courage overcome their jitters and defeat the insect army before the whole world bugs out? Try not to get scared. We double-dog dare you!”

Courage the Cowardly Dog ran for four acclaimed seasons from 1999-2002. While a CGI special aired back in 2014, the franchise hasn’t enjoyed as much of an afterlife as some of its fellow Cartoon Network shows from that period – e.g. The Powerpuff Girls – so fans should be over the moon to see Courage back in action again. You have to wonder if this crossover with Scooby is being viewed as a test-run for a potential revival of some kind.
Featuring the voices of Frank Welker, Matthew Lillard, Grey Griffin, Kate Micucci as Scooby-Doo and friends, with Marty Grabstein reprising Courage, Straight Outta Nowhere: Scooby-Doo Meets Courage the Cowardly Dog is set to be released on both Digital and DVD on September 14, 2021.

For almost thirty years, audience have been thrilled by the genetically engineered prehistoric beasts of the Jurassic Park franchise, but 2022 may see the series’ biggest installment to date. We’re talking about next summer’s Jurassic World: Dominion, the final entry in a trilogy of movies about the legacy of John Hammond’s doomed dinosaur theme park. Over the last few weeks, we’ve seen teaser images and a poster, but now we have our first look at some footage courtesy of an awesome teaser trailer that you can check out up above.
As expected, the story follows directly on from the ending of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, which saw Ingen’s dinosaurs released onto the mainland. The promo we have here hints at a brave new world, in which mankind is learning to live alongside the creatures, but you can bet that this status quo will be far from peace and harmony.

The dinos aren’t the only relics of the past coming back, though. Jurassic Park stars Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum are all set to make a triumphant return to the franchise, too, binding together the original 90s trilogy with the modern one. And while we don’t get to see any of them in this all-too-brief promo, you can bet that the full trailer will showcase a whole handful of familiar faces.
Director Colin Trevorrow has explained that his goal with the Jurassic World movies was to have Claire’s line from the first film, “no one is impressed by a dinosaur anymore,” be proven false in Dominion and it looks like he’s well on his way to achieving that. But, let’s face it, even if the entire rest of the pic falls flat on its face, it’ll be worth it to see the increasingly battle-scarred Rexy letting out that iconic roar on the big screen one more time.
Jurassic World: Dominion hits theaters on June 10th, 2022.
