During the 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards, Marvel Studios surprised the world with the debut trailer for their highly anticipated Disney+ series WandaVision, which will star Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany in the lead roles as the Scarlet Witch and Vision, respectively.
While plot details remain under wraps, the trailer does promise something unlike anything we’ve ever seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the fan-favorite heroes traverse a variety of different classic genres before realizing that everything seems just a bit off…
There’s no release official release date just yet, but it looks like it will indeed arrive before the end of the year as the press release teases a late 2020 premiere.

Welcome to WandaVision. Coming soon to Disney+. Marvel Studios’ captivating new series “WandaVision” stars Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany, and marks the first series from Marvel Studios streaming exclusively on Disney+. The series is a blend of classic television and the Marvel Cinematic Universe in which Wanda Maximoff and Vision—two super-powered beings living idealized suburban lives—begin to suspect that everything is not as it seems.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice received something of a mixed response from fans, but it was impossible for even its biggest detractors not to get on board with Ben Affleck’s Caped Crusader.
Watching him battle the Man of Steel proved to be a lot of fun, and comic book fans everywhere appreciated seeing the armour from Frank Miller’s iconic The Dark Knight Returns brought to the big screen. It looked terrific in action, and Affleck definitely managed to pull it off in a live-action setting.
To celebrate “Batman Day” yesterday, filmmaker Zack Snyder shared an awesome new behind the scenes shot of the Caped Crusader from his DC “SnyderVerse,” and it’s a truly beautiful shot.
“Batman is all of us,” the director said. “[He] is our rage at injustice…he stands alone, as we all wish we could, in the face of a corrupt system which wishes to oppress and exploit…he is that broken child, searching the dark alleys of the human soul to bring balance to the world.”
Those are the words of someone who clearly gets Batman!

Marvel’s Avengers puts the focus on Ms. Marvel in a big way, and that proves to be the best thing Crystal Dynamics could have ever done. Kamala Khan makes for a compelling and exciting lead, but a huge part of that can be credited to the phenomenal performance delivered by Sandra Saad.
A sequel hasn’t been announced just yet, though it seems obvious that a natural next step would be to explore Kamala’s relationship with Carol Danvers, a.k.a. the mighty Captain Marvel.
In the video interview below, we asked Sandra about potentially delving into that in a future game. “Oh yeah, I mean, that’s where she gets here name, right? She’s a huge fangirl of Captain Marvel,” she explains. “Even in A-Day when you see her chat about with Captain America. Do you remember that scene? He’s like, ‘Carol isn’t here, but she’d love your outfit’ or whatever.”
“Oh my God, I would love to explore that relationship too because as you’ve seen in the story, Crystal Dynamics has really handled those relationships very well. Kamala’s relationship with Thor is very different from Kamala’s relationship with Iron Man and so forth. So, yeah, I’m excited to see what other possibilities there are for these other heroes and their relationships.”
The game does a great job focusing on the relationships between characters, so it seems obvious that the Marvel’s Avengers franchise could take Kamala and Carol to some exciting new places.

It was another sluggish weekend at the global box office, but Tenet did manage to pass $200 million overseas to bring its worldwide total to $250.1 million. A strong debut in Japan really helped Christopher Nolan’s movie thanks to a surprisingly solid $4.3 million haul during its opening weekend.
Warner Bros. is still hiding box office figures from distributors, but Deadline confirms that Tenet managed to bring in $4.7 million in North America this weekend, a 30% drop from last week’s $6.7 million. 74% of theaters are open, but those in New York, Los Angeles, and San Franciso remain closed.
Only $36.1 million of Tenet‘s global haul is from the domestic box office, with the other $241 million from international markets. It’s not a good result, and easy to see why studios are wary right now.
Interestingly, the trade notes, “[Warner Bros.] plans to give Tenet a big marketing relaunch whenever New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco reopen. They’ve kept their P&A thrifty on the TV stateside with spots during the NBA and NFL, and have largely focused on a digital campaign.”
Needless to say, numbers like these do not bode well for the chances of Black Widow receiving a theatrical release this November, especially with COVID-19 clearly not getting any better. Despite a lot of theaters being open, it does seem like most people remain wary of visiting them (the advice from medical experts is that it’s not safe to watch a movie on the big screen).
Have you seen Tenet yet?

Unfortunately, it’s impossible to say whether Black Widow is going to arrive in theaters as planned this November, but it’s not looking good right now. Reliable sources are pointing to it being postponed, and the COVID-19 situation certainly isn’t looking any better in many parts of the globe.
With theaters in New York and Los Angeles still closed and the UK on the verge of another lockdown, studios are understandably wary of sharing their latest releases (especially after Tenet‘s performance).
Regardless, we have some new Black Widow intel today courtesy of some character descriptions:
Natasha Romanoff
Separated from the now fractured Avengers, she faces the dark path that led her to become a spy and assassin and the events that took place afterwards. A little reluctantly, she reunites with an unlikely group of spies who are part of her past and share with her a fundamental part of her story, as well as the desire to prevent a lethal force from being triggered. However, her efforts are threatened by a deadly killer whose exceptional skill set is different from everything Natasha ever faced.
Yelena Belova
A product of the Red Room’s ruthless training program, she keeps a secret history with Black Widow and is determined to solve it. When Yelena finds herself trapped in a world full of dangerous threats around every corner, her only chance of survival is perhaps through a fragile truce with the person she blames for a lifetime of torment: Natasha Romanoff.
Alexei/Red Guardian
The Red Room’s response to Captain America is a super soldier and spy who lived a lifetime of triumphs during the Cold War. Alexei’s years of espionage have been left behind, but he is still considered the ultimate hero. He loves to share his greatness with those around him, which these days includes the other inmates of the Russian prison where he resides. Deep down he feels guilty about his spy life, especially Natasha Romanoff, whom he met long before she became Black Widow.
Melina Vostokoff
She is a highly specialized spy agent who has gone through the Red Room training program four times. After several covert missions, one of which involved the young Natasha Romanoff, the Red Room recognized Melina’s intelligence by making her one of its leading scientists. After decades of service, Melina has managed to distance herself from the Red Room, but when Natasha shows up, Melina will have to decide which side her loyalty is on.
There aren’t too many spoilers here, but lots of intriguing intel about the Marvel Studios movie. Now, we just have to hope it won’t be waiting until next year to spend time with these characters!
What do you guys think?
