New WONDER WOMAN 1984 Footage Revealed In Latest WB Japan Christmas TV Spot

Image

The official Japanese website for Wonder Woman 1984 has released a TV spot to promote the new Christmas Day release date for Diana Prince’s second standalone feature. Although, based on the world’s inability to subdue the COVID-19 pandemic, don’t hold your breathe for the film to stick to that release date, either.

The move to Christmas 2020 marks the sixth release date for the film as the original plan called for the sequel to debut during last year’s Holiday Season. Back in December 2019, director Patty Jenkins revealed that filming and VFX for the film were 100% done.

Producer Charles Roven revealed that Warner Bros. was shifting WW84’s release date around to find a prime slot for the studio’s film slate and year-end profits. However, that call was made before COVID-19 reared its ugly head, and now it seems safe to say that WB is likely regretting its initial decision.

Do you think WB should simply release Wonder Woman 1984 on VOD? AT&T CEO John Stankey previously asserted that would not be the case, but recent chatter surrounding Mulan’s Disney+ Premier Access earnings might have the head of WB’s parent company rethinking those statements.

>Fast forward to the 1980s as Wonder Woman’s next big screen adventure finds her facing two all-new foes: Max Lord and The Cheetah.

With director Patty Jenkins back at the helm and Gal Gadot returning in the title role, “Wonder Woman 1984” is Warner Bros. Pictures’ follow up to the DC Super Hero’s first outing, 2017’s record-breaking “Wonder Woman,” which took in $822 million at the worldwide box office. The film also stars Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, Kristen Wiig as The Cheetah, Pedro Pascal as Max Lord, Robin Wright as Antiope, and Connie Nielsen as Hippolyta.

Charles Roven, Deborah Snyder, Zack Snyder, Patty Jenkins, Gal Gadot and Stephen Jones are producing the film. Rebecca Steel Roven Oakley, Richard Suckle, Marianne Jenkins, Geoff Johns, Walter Hamada, Chantal Nong Vo and Wesley Coller are the executive producers.

Patty Jenkins directed from a screenplay she wrote with Geoff Johns & David Callaham, story by Jenkins & Johns, based on characters from DC. Joining the director behind the scenes are several members of her “Wonder Woman” team, including director of photography Matthew Jensen, Oscar-nominated production designer Aline Bonetto (“Amélie”), and Oscar-winning costume designer Lindy Hemming (“Topsy-Turvy”). Oscar-nominated editor Richard Pearson (“United 93”) is cutting the film. The music is by Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer (“Dunkirk,” “The Lion King”).

Warner Bros. Pictures Presents an Atlas Entertainment/Stone Quarry Production, a Patty Jenkins Film, “Wonder Woman 1984.” Set to open in theaters in 2D and 3D in select theaters and IMAX, it will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures.

Disney+ Sets All-Star MS. MARVEL Directors List That Includes Adil El Arbi & Bilall Fallah And Meera Menon

Image

It seems the rumor that Bad Boys For Life directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah had been tapped to helm Marvel Studios’ Ms. Marvel television series for Disney+ was on the money. The Direct were first to post the news nearly two weeks ago, and we’re now hearing that Arbi and Fallah have been joined by some equally talented directors that should raise expectations for the MCU’s take on the first Muslim character to headline her own Marvel comic.

Joining Arbi and Fallah are two-time Oscar winner Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and Meera Menon. That rounds out a fairly diverse list, as Obaid-Chinoy is known for her stellar documentary work while Menon is no stranger to comic book television series having directed episodes of Netflix’s Punisher, DC Universe’s Titans and AMC’s The Walking Dead.

It’s currently unknown what the episode count for Ms. Marvel will be, but it’s safe to say that Kamala Khan will be an important character in the MCU moving forward as Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has already confirmed that the character will appear in future films.

If recent Disney+ news is a trend, then expect Marvel to announce the actress that will portray Kamala Khan in the coming weeks. Marvel unveiled its director for She-Hulk on September 15 before revealing that Tatiana Maslany would portray the titular heroine on September 17.

THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER Set Photos Show Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Back By His Motorcycle

Image

With work on The Falcon and The Winter Soldier resuming in Atlanta, Georgia, photos from the set of the Disney+ TV series continue finding their way online.

The latest show Sebastian Stan’s Bucky seemingly getting ready to get back on a motorcycle. As fans on social media have pointed out, this brings back memories of Captain America: Civil War when the former HYDRA assassin was being pursued by Black Panther and the C.I.A.

It makes sense for there to be some motorcycle action in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, and this also brings back memories of the comic books. Sam Wilson, meanwhile, is going to be able to take flight thanks to his trusty wings, so it’s doubtful he’ll have a similar ride to this one in the show.

As of right now, it doesn’t appear as if the series will premiere on Disney+ this year as planned, with the signs all pointing to it slipping into next year (Marvel Studios still needs to head back to Prague to finish the scenes which were being shot when they were closed down by the pandemic).

THE SUICIDE SQUAD Star Joel Kinnaman Says It’s “Heavily R-Rated” And Calls John Cena “A Comedic Genius”

Image

There’s a huge amount of excitement surrounding The Suicide Squad, especially after what was revealed during DC FanDome last month. Everything we’ve seen from the movie points to something vastly different to what the 2016 take on Task Force X delivered, and it’s obvious the characters are in safe hands with Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn.

Talking to The Hollywood Reporter, star Joel Kinnaman (who reprises the role of Rick Flag) praised the filmmaker’s take on the DC Comics property, and seemingly confirmed an R-Rating.

“That movie is going to be insane,” he said. “The script is so funny. Every page of that script was funny, and every page made me laugh. James just has this command of that genre, but also over every aspect of comedy and even the marketing. He just understands the world so well, and since he wrote it, he really reinvents not just the concepts, but also the characters.”

“For me, it was like I did my first comedy, but it’s like heavily R-rated,” Kinnaman confirmed. “So much of the action is practical with real explosions, and yeah, that movie is going to be insane. It’s such a great cast that he put together. John Cena, that motherfucker is a comedic genius. No one would make us laugh on set more than John. Every scene he was in, he would go on an improvised tangent. There are so many chops in that cast, and James has such a command of it all.”

“[We] had so much fun doing it,” the actor concluded. “That movie is going to be a fucking monster. Honestly, even though I’m in it, I can’t wait to see it as a fan. (Laughs.)”

This sounds like everything we’ve been hoping for and more, and it’s clear Gunn has something special in store with The Suicide Squad. It seems possible that a trailer will be attached to Wonder Woman 1984 on Christmas Day, but that largely hinges on what happens over the next few months.

THE BOYS Makes An Obvious Dig At Joss Whedon’s JUSTICE LEAGUE In Latest Episode

Image

The latest episode of The Boys is now available to stream on Amazon, and “We Gotta Go Now” features a not-so-subtle dig at Joss Whedon’s Justice League.

The ep begins with Queen Maeve shooting a scene for “Dawn of The Seven,” and being forced to spout some hilariously awful dialogue (“I’m a lot like you. I’m gay.”). When cameras stop rolling, she walks over to Homelander – who clearly influenced the director’s decision to add a queer subplot – to ask him to stop “torturing” her by constantly referencing and taking the piss out of her real-life relationship.

The super-powered prick responds with, “those Joss rewrites really sing, huh?” while waving at someone just offscreen.

It’s probably safe to assume the creative team behind this show are looking forward to the Snyder Cut!

The rest of the episode focuses on Butcher, MM, Hughie and Terror the pooch attempting to evade the lethal Black Noir, as Frenchie tries – unsuccessfully – to talk Kimiko out of becoming a hired killer. Plus, Homelander and Stormfront get physical… very physical!

What did you guys think of this latest instalment of The Boys? Did you catch the Whedon reference? Let us know in the comments.
