Entertainment Weekly reveals that Spider-Man: Miles Morales is set during winter one year after the events of Spider-Man, and it follows the young hero in Harlem as his home risks being torn apart by a war between an energy corporation and a criminal organisation armed with advanced tech. 

Despite being smaller in scale, the game’s creative director Brian Horton explains: “This is a full arc for Miles Morales that started in Spider-Man. We really are completing this hero’s coming of age in our game. It is a complete story. [We] realized that, with a little bit more of a compact storytelling style, we could tell a very emotionally impactful story that would fit really well as an experience that would take Spider-Man 1 and [Miles Morales] and do justice to this character.”

Fans can expect a very different Spider-Man when they take control of Miles, thanks to new animations, movements, mechanics, and powers (which include invisibility and bioshock). 

Asked about Miles’ transformation into this superhero, Horton explains that his is “more so born out of family. What I think is really compelling about Miles as a character is he has friends that he could actually let into his world — his human world and his Spider world. He’s a little different in the way he approaches it.”

The article also mentions that Miles very nearly didn’t have a leading role in Spider-Man as his appearance there was originally going to be saved for a post-credits scene. However, Insomniac decided it was important for us to get to know him as a character before getting to take control of him.

Last month, Ray Fisher took to Twitter to call out Joss Whedon for what he perceived to be “gross, abusive, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable” behavior on the set of Justice League, while also accusing Geoff Johns and Jon Berg of “enabling” the director.

Fisher didn’t go into any more detail at the time, but did promise to elaborate at a later date, and the Cyborg actor has now followed up with a damning statement on then DC chief creative officer Geoff Johns.

“During the LA reshoots for Justice League, Geoff Johns summoned me to his office to belittle and admonish my (and my agent’s) attempts to take grievances up the proper chain of command,” Fisher said in his Tweet. “He then made a thinly veiled threat to my career.”

Previous reports have suggested that Johns practically rewrote Chris Terrio’s script while Zack Snyder was still on board as the movie’s director, and he has been accused of “sabotaging” the filmmaker’s vision for the superhero team even before he was forced to hand over the reigns to Whedon.

Whether any of that is true is obviously up for debate, but Fisher’s Tweet is certain to add a lot fuel to the fire.

Cameras recently started rolling again on Jurassic World: Dominion, but it looks like production may be forced to continue without a certain fan-favorite character who we had been led to believe would be returning.

Earlier this year, it was reported that Jake Johnson was set to reprise his Jurassic World role as Lowery Cruthers for the upcoming third installment, but, unfortunately, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic may have thrown a spanner in the works.

“I was getting ready to go out and then this pandemic hit and so everything got pushed and the schedule got rearranged,” Johnson told Collider when asked if he’d filmed any scenes for the movie yet. “And now we’re trying to figure it out because obviously I’m in Stumptown and we’re going into Season 2 of that. So we’re figuring out the scheduling and how and if we can make it work. But Colin Trevorrow, the director, is a good friend, we’re old friends and we’ve been talking a lot and we’re trying to figure out how to do it.”

Hopefully Johnson and Trevorrow will be able to figure something out, because the Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse actor was a definite highlight of the first movie despite his limited screen time. Johnson also has a fantastic idea for how Cruthers could be reintroduced.

“At one point I pitched that he has like a huge pony tail now and he’s got like an army jacket and he’s kind of going through some PTSD of what he lived through. I wanted the 70s glasses and he’s always smoking a cigarette, but luckily Colin said no so we’ll see what happens (laughs). I was like, ‘Man I think he should be tatted up from the ankles to the ears, he saw a dinosaur attack!’”

If Trevorrow has any sense, he will reconsider!

Shazam! was a modest-sized hit last year, so it surprised no one when a sequel was confirmed. Fans loved the DC Comics adaptation (even if it did feel drastically different to past entries in the DC Extended Universe), and with Black Adam also on the way, the hope is that these movies will tie into one another and set the stage for a crossover. 

David F. Sandberg is returning to direct, as is writer Henry Gayden, and it’s previously been reported that we could see Shazam battle Mister Mind after a mid-credits scene set up his appearance.

Now, The Illuminerdi has shared an update on where things stand with the Shazam! 2 in terms of shooting, and it’s said that the current plan is for cameras to roll next spring. That will put the sequel on track to arrive in theaters as planned on November 4th, 2022. 

Black Adam is currently set to be released next December, but it’s believed that will change as Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will first have to finish working on Red Notice for Netflix. Plans for both movies might become clearer at DC FanDome this month as they’re both expected to have a presence.
