The Boys are set to return for more ultra-violent adventures on September 4, and it was announced tonight during the show’s Comic-Con@Home panel that Amazon has given the series an early Season 3 renewal.

A new Season 2 clip also debuted, and in it we find out exactly why Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) and his associates Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara), Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso), “Wee” Hughie Campbell (Jack Quaid), and The Frenchman (Tomer Kapon) were covered in blood in that recent promo image! What is it with this show and its penchant for gruesomely murdering sea mammals?

An unfortunate sperm whale is the latest victim, as the speedboat Butcher is driving rams straight through the poor creature when The Deep (yes, that dickhead) attempts to use him to block the gang’s path to shore.

The even more intense, more insane season two finds The Boys on the run from the law, hunted by the Supes, and desperately trying to regroup and fight back against Vought. In hiding, Hughie (Jack Quaid), Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso), Frenchie (Tomer Capon) and Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) try to adjust to a new normal, with Butcher (Karl Urban) nowhere to be found. Meanwhile, Starlight (Erin Moriarty) must navigate her place in The Seven as Homelander (Antony Starr) sets his sights on taking complete control. His power is threatened with the addition of Stormfront (Aya Cash), a social media-savvy new Supe, who has an agenda of her own. On top of that, the Supervillain threat takes center stage and makes waves as Vought seeks to capitalize on the nation’s paranoia.

The Boys will return to Amazon Prime this September.

While production isn’t slated to begin for a few more months, Sony’s Spider-Man: Far From Home sequel is facing another delay as the studio has pushed the Tom Holland-starrer one month from November 5 to December 17, 2021.

The prime holiday release date became available earlier today when Walt Disney Studios decided to vacate and move James Cameron’s Avatar 2 to December 16, 2022. The House of Mouse also made a number of other changes, moving back their entire Avatar slate and also redating a number of Untitled Star Wars films as well as Niki Caro’s Mulan., which was removed from the calendar entirely. 

Plot details for the currently untitled Spider-Man 3 are being held under wraps for now, but Jon Watts will be back in the director’s chair with a screenplay from Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. In addition to Holland, Zendaya, Marisa Tomei, and Jacob Batalon are expected to reprise their roles as Peter Parker’s closest allies. J.K. Simmons is also rumored to appear.

Looking ahead on the calendar, Spider-Man 3 will now open one week before Warner Bros./New Line’s Black Adam starring Dwayne Johnson and Warner Bros.’ Sherlock Holmes 3 starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law. However, considering neither of those films are expected to begin production until next year, at the earliest, it seems like their may be more changes on the way.

As The Unites States and many other parts of the world struggle to contain the COVID-19 pandemic, Disney has decided to reshuffle much of its schedule, postponing the live-action Mulan movie indefinitely and pushing back James Cameron’s Avatar sequels along with the untitled Star Wars movies.

Niki Caro’s Mulan remake was scheduled for release on Aug. 21 (after already being delayed twice), but now finds itself in limbo without a new set launch date. It’s possible that Disney may eventually cut their loses and send it direct to VOD, but that will almost certainly be a last resort.

“Over the last few months, it’s become clear that nothing can be set in stone when it comes to how we release films during this global health crisis, and today that means pausing our release plans for Mulan as we assess how we can most effectively bring this film to audiences around the world,” a Walt Disney Studios spokesperson said in a statement.

This shakeup also means that we won’t be returning to the galaxy far, far away (on the big screen, at least) until 2023, as the three untitled Star Wars movies on Disney’s calendar have also been pushed back by a year. They will now hit theaters on December 2023, 2025, and 2027.

There’s no mention of Marvel’s Black Widow, so we assume that’s sticking with its November 6, 2020 date.

Well, it looks like that TV spot must have been a fake after all. Despite reports that The New Mutants would be bypassing theaters and heading straight to VOD, it was just confirmed at the Comic-Con@Home panel that the movie is sticking with its August 8 theatrical release date.

It’s always possible that the film will also be available to stream soon after (we found out earlier today that Bill and Ted Face the Music will hit theaters and VOD simultaneously on September 1st), but for now, it looks like Disney is adamant that Josh Boone’s X-Men spinoff will play in theaters. 

The panel also debuted a brand new trailer and the movie’s opening sequence, which begins with Danielle Moonstar (Blu Hunt) fleeing from what we assume is the Demon Bear, before witnessing the supernatural creature murder her father. This leads directly into the trailer, which features plenty of awesome new footage of the five young heroes in action. Cannonball blasting? Rahne in wolf form? Magik cutting through enemies with her Soul Sword? It’s all here.

We’ll add the separate videos once they become available, but for now you’ll have to skip to around the 24:30 mark to watch.

Pretty cool. Will it be enough to entice fans back into theaters early next month? We’ll just have to wait and see.
