Image

20th Century Studios and Walt Disney Studios have shared three interesting new photos from Shawn Levy’s Free Guy, an upcoming sci-fi/action comedy starring Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool; Deadpool 2) in the lead role.

The plot centers around Guy (Ryan Reynolds), a non-player character working as a bank teller in a popular open world video game, who, thanks to a code developed by rogue programmers Milly (Jodie Comer) and Keys (Joe Keery), becomes self-aware and takes it upon himself to become the hero of his story and save his world from being shut down forever.

In addition to Reynolds, the cast will feature Golden Globe-nominee and Primetime Emmy-winner Jodie Comer (Killing Eve; Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker), Joe Keery (Stranger Things; Molly’s Game), Lil Rel Howery (Get Out; Uncle Drew), Utkarsh Ambudkar (Mulan; Brockmire), Camille Kostek (I Feel Pretty; Sports Illustrated Swimsuit) and Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok; Thor: Love and Thunder).

In Twentieth Century Fox’s epic adventure-comedy “Free Guy,” a bank teller who discovers he is actually a background player in an open-world video game, decides to become the hero of his own story…one he rewrites himself. Now in a world where there are no limits, he is determined to be the guy who saves his world his way…before it is too late.

TOM & JERRY Gets A Fun New Logo That Shows Off The Modern Character Designs For The Classic Cat & Mouse

Image

While the film isn’t due out until early next year, Warner Bros. Pictures has released a fun new logo for Tom & Jerry, which offers a first look at the updated modern character designs for the classic cat and mouse duo.

The film will follow an original character named Kayla (Chloë Grace Moretz), a new employee at a posh hotel where Jerry takes up residence and subsequently threatens to ruin a glamorous wedding with his presence. To solve her problem, Kayla hires a broke alley cat named Tom to get rid of the mischievious mouse, but, of course, that doesn’t exactly go according to plan. The situation gets even worse when Kayla’s villainous boss (Michael Peña) enters the picture and looks to exterminate them both.

While the titular heroes will be silent characters, the film’s human cast features Chloë Grace Moretz (Kick-Ass; Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising), Michael Peña (Ant-Man; Ant-Man and the Wasp), Colin Jost (Saturday Night Live; Staten Island Summer), Ken Jeong (The Hangover; Community), Rob Delaney (Deadpool 2; Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw), Pallavi Sharda (Lion; My Name is Khan), Jordan Bolger (Peaky Blinders; The 100), and Patsy Ferran (Darkest Hour; Jamestown).

Tim Story (Fantastic Four; Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer) is directing with a screenplay from Craig Wright, Katie Silberman, April Prosser, and Kevin Costello.

Tom & Jerry hits theaters March 5, 2021.

HAWKEYE Finds Its Directors In TROOP ZERO’s Bert and Bertie & STATEN ISLAND SUMMER’s Rhys Thomas

Image

The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Marvel Studios has tapped the directing duo of Bert and Bertie, a.k.a. Amber Finlayson and Katie Ellwood, and Rhys Thomas to direct their upcoming Hawkeye Disney+ series, which will return 2x Academy Award-nominee Jeremy Renner in the title role as the fan-favorite archer.

While unconfirmed, Bert and Bertie will presumably helm the first half of the six-episode miniseries while Thomas will tackle the latter half, with Jonathan Igla (Mad Men, Pitch) writing and serving as showrunner.

Plot details are currently being kept under wraps, but the series is expected to introduce Kate Bishop to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Casting remains a mystery for now as well, but Academy Award-nominee Hailee Steinfeld (Bumblebee; True Grit) has been heavily rumored to be the frontrunner.

A production start date wasn’t given, but Hawkeye was previously rumored to begin filming at the tailend of this year.

Bert and Bertie are likely best known for their coming-of-age comedy Troop Zero, which starred Academy Award-winner Viola Davis (Suicide SquadHow to Get Away with Murder) and Mckenna Grace (Captain MarvelGifted). Their credits also include episodes of Showtime’s Kidding starring 2x Golden Globe-winner Jim Carrey (Bruce Almighty; Sonic the Hedgehog) and Hulu’s The Great starring Elle Fanning (Maleficent; We Bought a Zoo) and Nicholas Hoult (X-Men: Days of Future Past; X-Men: Apocalypse).

Thomas is a Primetime Emmy-winner and a Saturday Night Live alum, best known for helming the comedy Staten Island Summer, which featured a number of SNL alumni. His credits also include an episode of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and John Mulaney & the Sack Lunch Bunch.

This is the first Marvel series to enlist multiple sets of directors after the previously announced series elected to have just one helmer for the entire series – Kari Skogland is directing The Falcon and the Winter Soldier with Malcolm Spellman serving as showrunner, Matt Shakman is directing WandaVision with Jac Schaeffer serving as showrunner, and Kate Herron is directing Loki with Michael Waldron serving as showrunner.

THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER: New Premiere Date Could Be Announced Soon; WANDAVISION Still On Track

Image

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier was notable by its absence from a recent listing revealing what’s coming to Disney+ this August, and it’s now been confirmed by multiple outlets that the Marvel Studios TV series has been delayed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

That was to be expected, though it did appear as if there was some hope following reports that the show just only nine days of shooting left and that work would resume as soon as this month.

According to Entertainment Weekly, “If all goes well, a new premiere will be announced soon.” With The Mandalorian season two coming to the streaming service in October, it’s hard to say when The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will actually be slotted in (especially if it needs to follow Black Widow, a prevailing theory among many fans right now).

Deadline, meanwhile, has shared a positive update about WandaVision, stating that the show “remains on track for its previously set October premiere date.” We’re guessing that mention of October is a typo as Disney has previously confirmed that the show is scheduled for a December debut.

Like the rest of Phase 4, it was inevitable that these TV shows would be hit by delays, but this comes at a bad time for Disney+, especially when it’s sorely lacking in terms of original content.

We’ll keep you guys updated.

Bryce Dallas Howard Shows Off “Sick” JURASSIC WORLD: DOMINION Stunt Bruises

Image

Jurassic World: Dominion was recently able to resume production after taking a COVID-19 enforced hiatus, and star Bryce Dallas Howard has now shared some photos of the gnarly bruises she acquired while performing her own stunts for the Colin Trevorrow-directed threequel.

Howard Tweeted out a behind-the-scenes photo (believed to be from one of the earlier movies) of herself alongside costar Chris Pratt, expressing how happy she is to be working with the Guardians of the Galaxy actor again.

In response, Pratt asked her to show her fans the “crazy sick” bruises she picked up while doing stunts.

These past couple of weeks my abs have been sore from laughing so much — it’s good to be back at work with this funny guy 🦖🦕 #TBT #JurassicWorld pic.twitter.com/Aij8Bu7sMW

Raise your hands if you’re happy to be doing stunts again!! https://t.co/Rq1rtH05QH pic.twitter.com/n6IMR2X0ov

— Bryce Dallas Howard (@BryceDHoward) July 16, 2020

It’s certainly commendable that Howard is so committed to shooting these action sequences, but based on these pics it might be a good idea to consider a stunt double in future!

The follow up to Fallen Kingdom will see Pratt and Howard reprise their roles as Owen Grady and Claire Dearing, and they’ll be joined by original Jurassic Park trio Sam Neill (Alan Grant), Laura Dern (Ellie Sattler), and Jeff Goldblum (Ian Malcolm).

Dominion is scheduled to roar into theaters next June.

BATMAN #100 Looks Set To Give The Dark Knight A Drastically Different Batsuit

Image

Bruce Wayne has donned many Batsuits over the years, but could he be about to get his most drastic new look yet in the pages of Batman #100? As you can see below, a Jorge Jimenez variant cover for the landmark issue has been released showcasing a new costume for the Caped Crusader.

The issue looks set to be the culmination of the current “Joker War” event playing out in Batman, so it would certainly make sense for the hero to need a formidable new Batsuit/armour to put an end to the Clown Prince of Crime’s latest reign of terror.

“In Batman #100, ‘The Joker War’ comes to a city-shattering conclusion as Batman battles The Joker in a brutal, no-holds-barred final duel,” reads the solicitation text for the issue. “This is a fight 80 years in the making, and its outcome won’t just change Batman’s life – it will change Gotham City for years to come!”

“Plus, catch the first glimpse of the new villain known as Ghost-Maker,” it continues. “And after the senses-shattering conclusion of ‘The Joker War’ come a pair of short stories that will chart what’s to come in Gotham City and Batman.”

It’s clearly going to be a big issue, and there’s no denying that this Batsuit brings back memories of Batman & Robin…minus the nipples, of course. This issue is set to go on sale on October 6th, and we might learn more about Batman’s new look later today when solicitations for the month are released.
