While James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad is going to hit the reset button on the franchise to some extent, there are still a number of characters from Suicide Squad who will be making their presence felt. Among them is Jai Courtney’s Captain Boomerang, and in an interview with Variety, the actor teased the “different flavour” Gunn is bringing to Task Force X. 

“There’s a whole bunch of new characters,” he told the trade of what fans can expect from the sequel. “James Gunn has an approach to things that is uniquely his; he pulls a lot of that into the “Suicide Squad” world. And I think that it fits really well, and audiences are going to have a lot of fun with it.”

While Courtney was careful not to reveal too many specific details, he did share that at least one of Boomerang’s scenes will take place in a water tank (could that be when he meets King Shark?).

“I won’t to say too much, but there’s a particular sequence when I get very wet, and a few other people do, and hilarity ensued when it came to that. When you’re spending hours upon hours in a water tank with a bunch of people treading water, and you’ve got Styrofoam stuffed into every crevice of your costume to try and take the load off and because it’s 4 a.m., it gets quite ridiculous.”

“I am lucky that sometimes I’m making these small-budget gritty dramas like ‘Stateless,’ and sometimes I’m out shooting big ridiculous action comedies like ‘Suicide Squad,'” he added. “To have feet on both of those trains is a lot of fun — and it also means that I never get tired of it.”

Based on what we’ve seen from The Suicide Squad, it’s clear that Gunn is going to bring a lot of unique ideas to the table, and the tone of this movie is going to be vastly different to David Ayer’s take.

After being revealed in the most recent trailer, the villainous Red Jack (Roger Floyd) has been confirmed to make his debut in episode three after he takes Negative Man (Matt Bomer) prisoner, which leads to The Chief (Timothy Dalton) and Rita Farr (April Bowlby) entering his interdimensional palace to bring their friend home.

Meanwhile, on the homefront, Robotman (Brendan Fraser) – after seeing what Niles would do for Dorothy (Abigail Shapiro) – will attempt to reconnect with his own very much still living daughter, but as the pictures reveal, it’s not going to go as well as he might think.

In the wake of a terrifying omen, Niles and Rita enter the interdimensional palace of the infamous Red Jack (guest star ROGER FLOYD), who feeds on pain and has taken Larry prisoner. Jane is called to The Underground to receive an ultimatum, while her physical body travels to Florida with Cliff, who’s eager to prove he’s a good father. Back at the manor, Dorothy’s game of hide and seek ends badly.

After years of rumor and speculation, it was officially announced last August that a fourth Matrix movie was in development at Warner Bros. with Lana Wachowski, who co-wrote and co-directed the original trilogy with her sister Lilly, returning to helm, and Keanu Reeves (Neo) and Carrie-Anne Moss (Trinity) signing on to reprise their respective roles.

After being forced to halt filming a few months ago (along with every other major production), the movie was recently given the go-ahead to resume shooting in Berlin, and thanks to TMZ we have our first look at some the returning stars.

The photos feature Reeves, Moss and new cast member Neil Patrick Harris. No details on the How I Met Your Mother actor’s role have been revealed, but he is rumored to be playing a villain.

Both Neo and Trinity were actually killed off at the end of The Matrix: Revolutions, so it’ll be interesting to see what explanation we’re given for their resurrections.

Also starring Jada Pinkett Smith, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jessica Henwick and Jonathan Groff, The Matrix 4‘s release was recently pushed to April 1, 2022.

Run With The Hunted is set to be released On Demand on Friday, June 26, and revolves around Oscar, a young boy who commits a noble murder and is forced to run away from his rural hometown, leaving behind his best friend, Loux. 15 years later, he has forgotten his past and become the leader of a band of lost children, and Loux takes it upon herself to find the boy who saved her life.

It’s a terrific film, and well worth checking out this weekend (you can watch the trailer below). While we had star Ron Perlman on the phone to discuss his role as Birdie, we obviously had to ask about Hellboy 3, and quizzed the actor on whether he thinks the way last year’s reboot bombed has closed the door on him and Guillermo del Toro ever returning for that unmade third instalment. 

David Harbour took on the title role in Hellboy, but Perlman told us that he was actually offered the chance to return as Big Red, but declined because Del Toro wasn’t going to be behind the camera!

“The only thing that’s stopping the third Hellboy film is the fact that Guillermo [del Toro] is one of the busiest guys in the business,” the actor told us. “He couldn’t do it with all the stuff he’s got lined up even if wanted to. The two films had nothing to do with one another.”

“The reboot was something I had the opportunity to participate in and decided that the only version of Hellboy I’m interested in is the one I do with Guillermo and so in walking away from it, I truly walked away from it, and haven’t seen it or heard much about it,” Perlman added. “I wished them well, but it was not in my bailiwick.”

We don’t know when exactly Perlman was offered the chance to return, but it’s definitely interesting that the studio initially wanted him back as Hellboy, and that certainly would have led to there being a lot more goodwill around Neil Marshall’s reboot.

Unfortunately, it sounds like the door is closed (perhaps slightly ajar) on Hellboy 3 for now, but stranger things have happened…

Following the release of that action-packed, M.O.D.O.K.-centric story trailer, the Marvel’s Avengers team has now shared a co-op trailer for “War Zones.” The game’s online component will see players working alongside up to three other members of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, all of whom can either be other people from across the globe or A.I. 

From there, you’ll be able to customise both your weapons and costumes, not to mention pulling off a series of badass team-up moves like having Thor use Mjolnir to give Iron Man a power boost.

Talking of the God of Thunder, he takes centre stage in a seven-and-a-half minute gameplay video which shows us more of what we can expect from Marvel’s Avengers. It looks like the levels will be fairly open, giving players the chance to make their way through the game in any number of ways. In terms of combat, though, it looks like we can definitely expect to mash a lot of buttons!

All in all, the game looks like a lot of fun, and if you weren’t already sold on it, these latest videos should help. September is fast approaching, and despite the COVID-19 pandemic, Marvel’s Avengers reportedly remains on course to hit shelves despite previous delays.

Things have been quiet on the #ReleaseTheAyerCut front these past few weeks, and Suicide Squad director David Ayer seems to have slowed his roll when it comes to dropping any big reveals! 

However, with so much chatter surrounding his original vision for Task Force X’s big screen debut, there are a lot of rumors floating around online. For example, one Twitter user looking for Retweets and Likes recently dropped the bold claim that there’s an additional 39 minutes of Joker footage sitting somewhere in the Warner Bros. lot. 

It’s not exactly breaking news that much of Leto’s performance was cut by Warners brass, but nearly 40 minutes? That seems like a lot, and Ayer, who has said in the past that it’s more like 10 minutes, was quick to set the record straight. 

Even just those extra 10 minutes would be a blast to see, especially as Ayer recently divulged that the Joker was going to reappear during the final act to make a bargain with Enchantress. 

There are claims out there that WarnerMedia is seriously considering releasing the #AyerCut of Suicide Squad on HBO Max, but it’s likely they will want to see how Justice League does before making a commitment.

With Doom Patrol set to return on Thursday, the DC Universe and HBO Max have released a ton of photos from the first three episodes of season two. The first of the three hours will pick up a short while after the events of last season’s finale with the entire team, save for Negative Man (Matt Bomer), still miniaturized. 

However, while the team seeks out a way to get back to normal, they also have to deal with the fallout from releasing Dorothy Spinner (Abigail Shapiro) as they get acquainted with her many “imaginary” friends.
