GOTG Star Karen Gillan Reportedly Eyed For Lead In PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN Reboot

Image

Karen Gillan is reportedly Disney’s pick to lead the planned Pirates of the Caribbean reboot.

We don’t know if any formal talks have taken place, but The Disinsider (who has been spot in with Disney-related scoops of late) reckons the Avengers: Endgame actress the studio’s top choice for the role. There’s a theory that she could be in line to play Redd – the popular meet-and-greet character from the Disney Parks attraction – but that’s pure speculation at this point.

Johnny Depp is not expected to reprise the role of Captain Jack Sparrow.

It’s been quite a while since we had any solid updates on the studio’s plans for this swashbuckling franchise, but things finally seem to be moving forward. No director is attached, but Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin and previous Pirates movies writer Ted Elliot are still working on the script, while Jerry Bruckheimer and Chad Oman are on board as producers.

Gillan is known for her roles in Doctor Who, Guardians of the Galaxy, and more recently, the Jumanji movies.

Tom Cruise Is Officially Set To Shoot A Film Aboard The International Space Station, Announces NASA

Image

After first getting word last night, NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine has now confirmed that Tom Cruise (Top Gun: Maverick; Mission: Impossible – Fallout) is indeed in the process of developing a new action/adventure film that will be set aboard the International Space Station.

The initial report revealed that Cruise would be working with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and Elon Musk’s SpaceX to achieve the historic feat, although since it’s still very much in the earliest stages of development, there isn’t a studio attached just yet nor is there a potential writer or director.

Additionally, it’s been reaffirmed that the new film will not be one of the two upcoming Mission: Impossible sequels, which are both currently on an indefinite production hiatus due to ongoing coronavirus pandemic. It will instead be an original action/adventure film and will mark the first time in cinematic history that a narrative film has been shot entirely in outer space.

NASA is excited to work with @TomCruise on a film aboard the @Space_Station! We need popular media to inspire a new generation of engineers and scientists to make @NASA’s ambitious plans a reality. pic.twitter.com/CaPwfXtfUv

— Jim Bridenstine (@JimBridenstine) May 5, 2020

Up next for the 3x Academy Award-nominee and 3x Golden Globe-winning megastar is the long-awaited Top Gun: Maverick, which was recently pushed to December 23, 2020, and he’s expected to resume filming the highly anticipated Mission: Impossible 7 and Mission: Impossible 8 sometime this summer, depending on the status of the coronavirus pandemic.

M:I 7 lights the fuse on November 19, 2021 while M:I 8 opens on November 4, 2022.

The LEGENDS OF TOMORROW Go Back To College In New Promo & Photos For Season 5, Episode 12: “Freaks and Greeks”

Image

Unlike The Flash, Supergirl, and Batwoman; which were all forced to cut their currently airing seasons short due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and subsequent global production shut down, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow wrapped filming its fifth season last year, meaning it will continue airing new episodes until its true season finale on June 2.

As for next week’s episode, it’s shaping up to be quite a fun hour as the entire team heads back to college and get into some Old School-esque shenanigans as they form a sorority in an effort to locate and acquire an ancient artifact known as the Chalice of Dionyus that will help Charlie (Maisie Richardson-Sellers) operate the Loom of Fate. However, things quickly take a turn for the worst when Nate (Nick Zano) falls under Dion’s spell and spills all the beans about what he and the other Legends are planning.

Meanwhile, Mick Rory (Dominic Purcell) goes on a college tour with Lita (Mina Sundwall), but has to cut the father/daughter bonding trip short when something really unexpected comes up.

“Freaks and Greeks” – (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET) (TV-14, V) (HDTV)

SISTERHOOD – The Legends find themselves going back to college and form a sorority in order to try to retrieve an ancient artifact called the Chalice of Dionyus that will help Charlie (Maisie Richardson-Sellers) operate the Loom of Fate. Proud to be back at his college, Nate (Nick Zano) falls under Dion’s spell, letting him know of Sara (Caity Lotz), Astra (Olivia Swann), Ava (Jes Macallan) and Charlie’s plan to get the cup. Meanwhile, on a father-daughter weekend, Rory (Dominic Purcell) takes Lita (guest star Mina Sundwall) on a college tour, but Rory bails on Lita for an unexpected reason. Tala Ashe and Matt Ryan also star. Nico Sachse directed the episode written by Matthew Maala & Ubah Mohamed (#512). Original airdate 5/12/2020.

After defeating the demon Mallus by cuddling him to death with a giant stuffed animal named Beebo, the Legends are ready to ease off the gas. Sara and her team join Ava Sharpe and the Time Bureau to help clean up the last few remaining anachronisms. The job seems straightforward enough until Constantine arrives to inform them that, in solving one major problem, they have created another, much larger one. When the Legends let time crumble in order to release and defeat Mallus, the barrier between worlds softened. History is now infected with “Fugitives” – magical creatures from myths, fairytales, and legends. Having been expelled throughout time by people like Constantine, these Fugitives are now returning to our world in droves and making a real mess of things. As the Time Bureau is distrustful of and ill-equipped to deal with magic, the Legends must team up with everyone’s favorite demonologist to set history back on track.

STAR WARS Actor Mark Hamill Goes To The Dark Side In WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS First Look

Image

Luke Skywalker may have managed to avoid going to the dark side, but the man who played the iconic Jedi Knight will fully embrace it when he guest-stars as a vampire in FX’s What We Do in the Shadows.

It was revealed that Mark Hamill had booked a role in the second season of Jemaine Clement’s horror comedy series earlier this year, and thanks to EW we have our first look at his character: a vengeful enemy from Laszlo’s (Matt Berry) past who appears without warning to settle a personal debt.

Hamill, who was a huge fan of the original movie, said he found it difficult to keep from laughing while acting opposite Berry.

“One of the real challenges of working with Matt was trying to keep a straight face when he would improvise,” he explained. “Each line he said was more obscene and profane than the next. Mark Hamill the actor found that hilarious but my character does not. I had to work really hard to try and stay in character the best I could.”

Check out the still below and let us know how you think Hamill fangs-up as a vampire.

WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS

Set in Staten Island, What We Do in the Shadows follows the lives of three traditional vampires; Nandor, Laszlo, and Nadja; Colin Robinson, an energy vampire; and Guillermo, Nandor’s familiar. The series revolves around the vampires adapting to the modern world with the help of Guillermo and, occasionally, Colin Robinson.

Hamill’s episode of What We Do in the Shadows, titled “On the Run,” is set to air on May 13

Marvel Announces FURY FILES Series Coming To Disney+ On May 15th

Image

With productions around the globe coming to a halt due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it appears as if Marvel has managed to create some new content for Disney+. Titled Fury Files, the series is set to focus on a number of Marvel heroes and villains using motion comic art and scenes from animated TV shows like Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and X-Men: The Animated Series.

It definitely sounds like something that may have been cobbled together to combat the streaming service’s current lack of original content, but it could still be fun based on the synopsis.

“You shouldn’t be surprised that Nick Fury has files on every single Marvel Super Hero,” it reads. “Fury Files gives viewers top-secret access to S.H.I.E.L.D. intel on key Marvel heroes and villains. All of this is told by none other than the mysterious Fury, bringing together a mix of animation and motion comic art! Looking to download a bunch of information about every single hero? Fury’s got you covered.”

Fury Files is set to start streaming on Friday, May 15th, and a proper look at the series will hopefully be revealed soon. It’s also been confirmed that the second season of Marvel’s Future Avengers is coming to Disney+, and that will arrive just a week later on Friday, May 22nd.

We’ll keep you guys updated as we learn more!

THE MANDALORIAN: Funko Reveals A Whole Range Of Baby Yoda Pops To Celebrate STAR WARS Day

Image

The Mandalorian might just be the best Star Wars content from Lucasfilm since they were acquired by Disney, and while the show is fantastic in its own right, Baby Yoda (a.k.a. The Child) certainly helps matters! The adorable alien has stolen everyone’s hearts, and while the secrecy surrounding the character led to an initial shortage of merchandise, there’s plenty on the way.

To celebrate May The Fourth/Star Wars Day, Funko has shared some Pops which are heading our way later this year and, as you can see, the focus is very much on The Child.

He’s placed inside that familiar crib for a very cool “Movie Moment” style Pop, and a number of variants recreate some classic moments from the first season of The Mandalorian. They include The Child slurping on that soup, eating a frog, using the Force, and looking, well, adorably sad.

Needless to say, these are going to be must-have collectibles for fans when they finally go on sale, but COVID-19 has resulted in some delays to Funko’s production process. With things slowly starting to return to normal, here’s hoping we can get our hands on these sooner rather than later.

Which of these will you guys be picking up? “All of them” is an acceptable answer, by the way!
