SHAZAM! Director David F. Sandberg Reveals Who Voiced Mr. Mind In The Movie Mid-Credits Scene

Image

During a recent live commentary on social media, Shazam! director David F. Sandberg dropped a ton of new details about his entry into the DC Extended Universe. That included revealed who provided the voice of the villainous Mr. Mind in the movie’s quirky mid-credits scene.

As you may recall, that featured the mysterious baddie (who had managed to escape The Wizard’s hideout) confronting Dr. Sivana and seemingly setting the stage for a team-up in the sequel.

While it’s possible that the Rock of Eternity escapee will get an A-List voice actor in that, Sandberg was the one who provided his robotic voice in Shazam!, so it’s possible he’ll reprise the role there. This wasn’t the filmmaker’s only cameo in the movie either, as he also suited up to play one of the three Crocodile-Men the Shazam Family came across at one point.

Based on what Mr. Mind said in that mid-credits scene about taking over the seven realms, we’ll likely see the Monster Society of Evil take on these heroes in 2022 before they inevitably cross paths with Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam in a crossover movie of some sort down the line.

Are you guys looking forward to seeing more of Mr. Mind?

ARTEMIS FOWL Will No Longer Be Released In Theaters And Is Instead Heading Straight To Disney+

Image

Disney has today confirmed that Kenneth Branagh’s live-action adaptation of Artemis Fowl is set to debut exclusively on Disney+. That means no theatrical, Digital, or DVD/Blu-ray release.

It’s a surprising move on the studio’s part…sort of. The trailers for the film have been panned by fans of the books, and no one seems overly excited to see the movie regardless. With that in mind, it appears as if Disney is cutting their losses, and it’s honestly surprising the same hasn’t been done with The New Mutants all things considered.

“With audiences largely unable to attend theatres in the current environment, we are thrilled to offer the premiere of ‘Artemis Fowl’ on Disney+,” says Disney+ Content President Ricky Strauss.

“Director Kenneth Branagh and his spectacular cast take viewers right into the vibrant, fantasy world of the beloved book, which fans have been waiting to see brought to life onscreen for years,” he continues. “It’s great family entertainment that is the perfect addition to Disney+’s summer lineup.”

Artemis Fowl was originally scheduled to arrive in theaters on May 29th, 2020, and some sort of postponement was inevitable due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, it’s a good fit for Disney+.

Based on the best-selling young adult book by Eoin Colfer, Artemis Fowl stars newcomer Ferdia Shaw in the title role alongside Lara McDonnell, Josh Gad, Tamara Smart, Nonso Anozie, Josh McGuire, Nikesh Patel. and Adrian Scarborough, with Colin Farrell and Judi Dench.

SUPERMAN & LOIS Adds UNFORGETTABLE Actor Dylan Walsh As General Samuel Lane

Image

The CW’s upcoming Superman & Lois series has added a new take on Lois Lane’s army general father, Samuel Lane. According to Deadline, Dylan Walsh (Nip/Tuck, Unforgettable) will play the role.

We’ve seen quite a few different incarnations of General Lane on the small screen over the years, most recently on Supergirl where he was played by Glenn Morshower. This version of the DC Comics characters is described as “a no-nonsense Army general who’s determined to keep America, and the world, safe from all threats – from this world or beyond. Lane’s a workaholic who demands nothing but excellence from all those in his life.”

Sounds about right! This new series will be a little different to previous Man of Steel-centric shows, however, as the story will focus on Clark (Tyler Hoechlin) and Lois (Elizabeth Tulloch) raising a family and dealing with the “stress, pressures and complexities that come with being working parents in today’s society.”

Former Flash showrunner Helbing will executive produce Superman & Lois with Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and Geoff Johns via Berlanti Productions. The show will go straight to series (13 episodes), and production is expected to get underway as soon as it’s safe to do so.

Are you guys looking forward to this one? What do you make of Walsh being cast as General Lane? Let us know in the usual place.

MORTAL KOMBAT LEGENDS: SCORPION’S REVENGE – Johnny Cage Is Humble As Ever In This First Clip

Image

On the heels of last week’s gloriously gruesome red band trailer, Warner Bros. Animation has released the first clip from the upcoming Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge movie.

This sneak peek reigns in the bloody action to introduce some classic characters from the original video game, as Johnny Cage meets Liu Kang, Sonya Blade and Raiden for the first time. He’s a total douche right off the bat, of course, and seems to think he’s on a movie set. Something tells us he’ll be pulled right back down to Earth(realm) pretty soon.

Check out the clip below and let us know what you think. Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge is set to be released on Digital on April 12, and Blu-ray and DVD on April 28. Do you plan on picking it up?

Based on the worldwide hit game created by Ed Boon & John Tobias, Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge spotlights the once-in-a-generation tournament between the champions of Outworld and Earthrealm – a competition that will ultimately determine the fate of Earth and all its citizens. Lord Raiden, protector of Earthrealm, must gather the greatest fighters of his realm to defend it from the evil Shang Tsung in the battle to end all battles – Mortal Kombat!

Directed by Ethan Spaulding from a script by Jeremy Adams, Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge stars Joel McHale as Johnny Cage, Jennifer Carpenter as Sonya Blade, Jordan Rodrigues as Scorpion & Hanzo Hasashi, Steve Blum as Sub-Zero, Artt Butler as Shang Tsung, Darin De Paul as Quan Chi, Robin Atkin Downes as Kano, David B. Mitchell as Raiden, Ike Amadi as Jax Briggs, Kevin Michael Richardson as Goro, Grey Griffin as Kitana & Satoshi Hasashi, and Fred Tatasciore as Demon Torturer.

Marvel’s Original UNCANNY AVENGERS Roster Almost Included Fantomex And A Resurrected Fan-Favorite

Image

With so much upheaval in the world right now, writer Rick Remender has been bringing some joy to the lives of comic book fans on social media by sharing many of his rejected Marvel Comics pitches in a bid to show us what might have been. This time, he’s revealed some of the characters he was hoping to use in the Uncanny Avengers series.

While the line-up we got was pretty impressive (Captain America, Havok, Thor, Wolverine, Sunfire, Wonder Man, Rogue, The Wasp, and Scarlet Witch), he originally had a much different idea.

As you can see below, he originally planned on using Captain America, Scarlet Witch, Wolverine, Storm, Thor, and Uncanny Avengers members Psylocke and Fantomex. However, the biggest reveal here is the inclusion of Captain Mar-Vell, a character who has been dead in the comic books for decades now.

His return would have been huge news, and undoubtedly changed the Marvel Universe as we know it.

Remender adds that he planned on including Doctor Voodoo at one point too, but that couldn’t happen because he’d recently been killed off. Uncanny Avengers was a fun title, and the title’s line-up helped make it compelling reading each month. It’s definitely a shame we didn’t see some of these heroes join them, though!

What do you guys think?

My initial pitch for Uncanny Avengers line up. Also wanted Doctor Voodoo from the mini series we’d recently done but he’d been killed. pic.twitter.com/lITB9HsKYO

THE SUICIDE SQUAD Director James Gunn Promises An “Exploding Paul Dini-esque” Take On Harley Quinn

Image

While Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn quickly earned herself a place in the hearts of many moviegoers following her debut in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad, that version of the DC villain hasn’t always appealed to fans more fond of her appearances in Batman: The Animated Series and various comic books arcs.

However, if a recent comment from director James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy) is anything to go by, those who haven’t been too keen on the character’s roles in Suicide Squad and Birds of Prey may soon see a version more to their liking.

During a recent Twitter Q&A, The Suicide Squad director described his version of Harley Quinn as an “exploding Paul Dini-esque” take, a direct reference to one of the creators behind Batman: The Animated Series, which is where the iconic DC character first appeared.

Gunn provided no further details on how his vision of Quinn will differ from her past two appearances, but the Paul Dini name drop will likely pique the interest of many fans as they wait until the film’s release on August 6, 2021.

Exploding Paul Dini-esque. Cc @Paul_Dini. Also that Easter Egg guess was probably more like 70% now that I think about it. Who’s next?

SHAZAM! Director Shares A Cool New Shot Of Zachary Levi Suited Up And The Entire Shazam Family

Image

Yesterday evening, Shazam! director David F. Sandberg treated fans on social media to a live commentary. We’ll be sure to bring you the biggest reveals from that soon, but in the meantime, the fillmaker has shared some photos from his DC Comics adaptation.

The first is a new promotional image of Zachary Levi suited up as Shazam. It’s an atmospheric and eye-catching shot of the superhero, and one undeniably worthy of gracing your phone screen!

The second photo features both the adult and child versions of the Shazam Family. It’s a cool shot which gives us the opportunity to compare the heroes with their younger counterparts. The superpowerd Shazam Family didn’t get much in the way of screentime in the movie, but the hope is that will change in Sandberg’s upcoming sequel (which was supposed to start shooting later this year).

Shazam! was released to positive reviews last year, and as well as a sequel, Warner Bros. is moving ahead with Black Adam starring everyone’s favorite Hollywood A-Lister, Dwayne Johnson.
