WATCHMEN: The Cast Returns…For An Important Public Service Announcement!

Image

While Damon Lindelof has made it clear that he won’t be returning to the world of Watchmen for a second season of the award-winning HBO program, a PSA to combat the spread of the current COVID-19 virus was never off the table.

Stars Regina King, Tim Blake Nelson, Jean Smart, Yahya Abdul Matteen-II and more all give in-character tutorials on how to properly wash your hands, and how important doing such a thing is to prevent the spread. Notably absent from the “Washmen” is Jeremy Irons’ Ozymandias, although I’m sure Veidt would have, at the very least, been under self-quarantine on one of the moons of Jupiter.

Enjoy the video below, and remember to stay safe and wash your hands!

From Damon Lindelof and set in an alternate history where “superheroes” are treated as outlaws, this drama series embraces the nostalgia of the original groundbreaking graphic novel of the same name while attempting to break new ground of its own. The cast includes Regina King, Jeremy Irons, Don Johnson, Jean Smart, Tim Blake Nelson, Louis Gossett Jr., Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Hong Chau, Andrew Howard, Tom Mison, Frances Fisher, Jacob Ming-Trent, Sara Vickers, Dylan Schombing, and James Wolk.

Tom Cruise’s WAR OF THE WORLDS, DAYS OF THUNDER & TOP GUN Getting The 4K Ultra HD Treatment This Summer

Image

With Tom Cruise’s Top Gun: Maverick (hopefully) set to open this summer, Paramount Home Media Distribution announced this week that in the lead up to the long-awaited action sequel, they will be releasing Tony Scott’s Top Gun, Days of Thunder, and Steven Spielberg’s War of the Worlds on 4K Ultra HD for the first time ever.

All three films will be available to purchase on May 19.

In addition to the standard cover, the original Top Gun will also receive a Best Buy-exclusive 4K Ultra HD Steelbook, featuring some cool new artwork. Days of Thunder will be released as part of a 30th Anniversary special edition while War of the Worlds will receive a special 15th Anniversary special edition.

No word yet on any potential special features.

As for Top Gun: Maverick, it remains to be seen whether the Joseph Kosinski-directed film will actually be able to open on its intended June 24th release date due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Both Warner Bros.’ Wonder Woman 1984 and Universal’s Minions: The Rise of Gru have already vacated their respective early June and July release dates, which does open the door for Top Gun: Maverick to be the first major release of the summer. But with the coronavirus pandemic showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon, it seems somewhat inevitable that Paramount will ultimately be forced to push the film to an undetermined future date.

IRON FIST Star Tom Pelphrey Reveals New Details About Original Plans For Canceled Season 3

Image

Iron Fist was the first of Marvel’s TV shows on Netflix to be cancelled, and while fans were disappointed, it was always something of a weak link. However, season two was still something of an improvement over what had come before, and the stage was ultimately set for a third run of episodes which would have seen Colleen Wing serving as the new Iron Fist.

Danny Rand, meanwhile, was last seen travelling to Asia alongside Ward Meachum in a quest to learn more about the powers of the Iron Fist. It wasn’t the most exciting tease for the superhero (who never really did anything that, well, super), but fans of the series were definitely intrigued.

Now, star Tom Pelphrey has revealed a little more about what was to come for Danny and Ward, and while he didn’t have anything too specific to share, he teased what sounds like a fun adventure for the unlikely pairing. “There was talk of almost like a, well, I think I can say this now, but like a kind of like a Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid kind of comradery, bonding.”

Adding that he would “never say never” regarding returning to the role if the opportunity were to present itself, it sounds like he’s all too aware of the desperation many fans have to learn about what should have come next as Iron Fist “could not have ended on a bigger cliffhanger.”

Sadly, we’re unlikely to ever see that happen, though it feels like a missed trick on Marvel’s part not to continue these stories in the pages of a comic book. Looking ahead to what comes next, it seems likely that Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige will just reboot all of these characters!

What do you guys think? Do you wish we’d seen Iron Fist season 3?

CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS Showrunner Regrets Mentioning The Unfilmed Nic Cage As Superman Cameo

Image

Crisis on Infinite Earths included a lot of familiar faces, as DC heroes from multiple realities came together for on epic adventure. At the time, executive producer Marc Guggenheim revealed that he tried, and failed, to get Nicolas Cage to agree to an appearance as Superman, but the showrunner admits to having serious regrets about ever mentioning that.

“I know I’ve talked about Nic Cage, but ever since I did that, I’ve since felt pretty bad,” Guggenheim told Fake Nerd Podcast, “because I don’t want anyone — like, let’s call him Person X. If we went to Person X and Person X said no, I don’t want Person X’s Twitter feed blowing up with, ‘Why didn’t you play the role? Why didn’t you appear in Crisis?'”

“Everyone’s got their reasons, and for some people, they were legitimately busy,” he continued. “For other people, they just had no desire. For other people, they wanted more money than we had to spend. There’s a whole host of reasons why various cameos didn’t come into being. I don’t see any good coming from going into specifics for why those various cameos didn’t happen.”

It seems likely that The CW couldn’t pay what an actor like Nic Cage would want for an appearance in shows like these, and he never actually got to play Superman on the big screen.

Though photos of him suited up for costume tests in Tim Burton’s Superman Lives have gone viral in recent years, that’s as far as the 1998 movie got, and everything we’ve heard about the film have pointed to it not happening being for the best. Seeing him as Superman would have been an absolute blast, however, so maybe Guggenheim shouldn’t have teased us with what could’ve been!

BATMAN v SUPERMAN Behind The Scenes Photo Sees Ben Affleck’s Dark Knight Taking A Much-Needed Break

Image

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was released in 2016 to mostly negative reviews, but the movie really isn’t all that bad, and there are plenty of high points for fans of the comic books to enjoy. Recently, social media celebrated the four-year anniversary of its arrival in theaters (remember those?), and director Zack Snyder responded with a glorious behind the scenes photo!

The filmmaker captured a once in a lifetime shot of Ben Affleck chilling out behind the scenes of the DC Comics movie as he enjoys having some cool air blown on him while decked out in his Batsuit.

Affleck recently admitted that he had a great time working on Batman v Superman with Snyder, and photos like these appear to prove that’s the case. Justice League, on the other hand, was not a pleasurable experience for the actor and filmmaker, hence why he decided to move on from the DCEU.

Now, the mantle of Batman has been passed on to English actor Robert Pattinson.

Hopefully, he will have a better time as the character than Affleck did, but with work called to a halt on The Batman due to COVID-19, we have no way of knowing for sure when we’ll first see him as Bruce Wayne. Originally scheduled for June 2021, it’s expected that the film will be delayed by Warner Bros.

From director Zack Snyder comes Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, starring Ben Affleck as Batman/Bruce Wayne and Henry Cavill as Superman/Clark Kent in the characters’ first big-screen pairing. Fearing the actions of a god-like super hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.

Disneyland And Disney World Extend Closures For Indefinite Period Due To Ongoing COVID-19 Crisis

Image

Disney World and Disneyland were supposed to re-open next Wednesday, but it’s been clear for a while now that wasn’t actually ever going to happen. After Universal Studios extended closures to April 19th, Disney has taken the unprecedented decision to keep its theme parks closed indefinitely.

You read that right, they won’t be opening their gates again for the foreseeable future!

“While there is still much uncertainty with respect to the impacts of COVID-19, the safety and well-being of our guests and employees remains The Walt Disney Company’s top priority,” a statement from the company reads. “As a result of this unprecedented pandemic and in line with direction provided by health experts and government officials, Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort will remain closed until further notice.”

“The Walt Disney Company has been paying its cast members since the closure of the parks, and in light of this ongoing and increasingly complex crisis,” it continues, “we have made the decision to extend paying hourly parks and resorts cast members through April 18.”

California is currently under an official stay-at-home order, so all non-essential businesses (yes, that includes Disneyland) must stay closed. In Orlando, a similar order means Disney World would have to stay closed until April 9th at the earliest, but that too is a date that’s likely to be extended.

Like movie theaters, theme parks aren’t a priority right now, and opening them would be dangerous.
