THE WITCHER: Basil Eidenbenz Replaces Thue Ersted Rasmussen As Eskel In Season 2 Of The Netflix Series

Image

Earlier this week, we learned that Thue Ersted Rasmussen had dropped out of the upcoming second season of The Witcher – which is currently shooting in the UK – due to what he said was “rescheduling because of COVID-19.” While he had shot scenes prior to production being halted in March, Basil Eidenbenz has now been chosen to take over as the witcher, Eskel.

Rasmussen was actually among seven new cast members announced for The Witcher by Netflix in late February, but it was just three weeks later that the streaming service had to halt work.

Eidenbenz looks set to be a solid replacement, though, and was named as one of the possibilities to take over the role by Redanian Intelligence after the news of Rasmussen’s departure broke. The Swiss actor is best know for his roles in TV shows like Victoria and The Athena

Eskel is an important character in The Witcher mythos. Like Geralt, he was taught at the School of the Wolf by Master Vesemir at Kaer Morhen. Though less famous than his peer Geralt, Eskel became renowned in his own right as a professional, reliable witcher, and possessing a kind and relaxed disposition.

The first season of The Witcher was a huge hit for Netflix last December, but it’s unclear when this second season will debut. With any luck, we don’t have to wait too far into 2021 for the show’s return.

THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER Set Photo Reveals A First Look At Erin Kellyman’s Mysterious Villain

Image

Work has resumed on The Falcon and The Winter Soldier in Atlanta, Georgia, and we now have a new photo featuring a meeting between Georges St-Pierre’s Batroc the Leaper and Erin Kellyman’s unknown character in Woodruff Park. They definitely appear to be in league based on this image.

Recently, a scene description claimed, “Georges was filming in a park standing with Desmond by a bench, while Erin sat between them on the back of the bench with her feet on the seat. He could not hear any dialogue but said that Erin’s character used some kind of power, unclear how, to impress the two. The power involved extras near them in a field stopping, simultaneously looking at the phones, looking up, and all walking towards them in a group and as if in a trance.”

That definitely appears to be what we’re seeing here, though there’s obviously no evidence that Kellyman is, as previously reported, playing Songbird (a future member of the Thunderbolts).

If the Solo: A Star Wars Story actress is indeed playing Songbird, that points to her potentially having a future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a recurring villain. It’s hard to say for sure, but The Falcon and The Winter Soldier certainly appears to feature a large number of foes for the title heroes!

ENOLA HOLMES Star Henry Cavill Would “Jump At The Opportunity” To Take Over As JAMES BOND

Image

Henry Cavill may have made a name for himself playing Superman, but the British actor has been making a huge impact in other worlds over the past few years. He stole the show as the lead villain in Mission: Impossible – Fallout, brought Geralt of Rivia to life in The Witcher for Netflix, and is now receiving widespread acclaim for starring as Sherlock Holmes in Enola Holmes

While Cavill is expected to return for reshoots for Justice League: The Snyder Cut, his future beyond that as the Man of Steel is hard to say, but could he be too busy playing James Bond to care?

While it was recently reported that Tom Hardy is taking over from Daniel Craig after No Time to Die, GQ got Cavill to confess that he would definitely take the call to “suit up” as the new 007 on screen.

“If Barbara [Bond producer Barbara Broccoli] and Mike [co-producer Michael G. Wilson] were interested in that, I would absolutely jump at the opportunity,” he says. “At this stage, it’s all up in the air. We’ll see what happens. But yes, I would love to play Bond, it would be very, very exciting.”

Cavill would be a great Bond, but it ultimately remains to be seen what the aforementioned producers decide to do with the franchise after Craig’s tenure reaches its end. There’s certainly a lot of excitement surrounding Hardy potentially taking over, but Cavill is arguably a better fit in many ways.

Hasbro Reveals An Epic, Life-Size Stormbreaker Based On The Weapon’s Appearance In AVENGERS: ENDGAME

Image

If you’ve been holding out hope for the opportunity to own a life-size Stormbreaker, then we have some amazing news for you! During Hasbro’s virtual “PulseCon” yesterday, it was confirmed that the latest addition to the Marvel Legends line of replicas is the massive axe based on its appearance in last year’s Avengers: Endgame when the God of Thunder stormed into battle against Thanos.

It’s a beast of a weapon, and one that is now affordable thanks to Hasbro (it’ll retail for $159.99).

“Thor really has an axe to grind after his evil sister destroys his hammer Mjölnir,” reads the official description. “Imagine defeating Thanos with this Thor electronic roleplay axe! Activate exciting thunder sound FX with the push of a button. With the Marvel Avengers: Endgame Stormbreaker Electronic Axe, fans and collectors can imagine joining the battle to save the universe!”

As you can see in the video below, this will look great alongside Hasbro’s Mjolnir replica, not to mention the Infinity Gauntlets they released to tie in with the last two Avengers movies.

A full-blown Stormbreaker replica would likely cost thousands, so this is definitely the next best thing!

With filming having resumed on Marvel’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Just Jared has shared a fresh set of photos from the set of the upcoming Marvel Studios-produced miniseries that will star Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan in the lead roles as they do their best to fill the massive shoes left behind by their retired friend Steve Rogers (Chris Evans).

Plot details remain under wraps, but the miniseries is expected to run six episodes and will be a global adventure as the two heroes partner up with Sharon Carter (Emily VanCamp) to stop a new conspiracy hatched by the notorious Baron Zemo (Daniel Brühl).

Marvel’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is one of many upcoming Marvel Studios-produced Disney+ miniseries and will star Anthony Mackie (Avengers: Endgame), Sebastian Stan (Avengers: Endgame), Daniel Brühl (Captain America: Civil War), Emily VanCamp (Captain America: Civil War), Wyatt Russell (Overlord), Adepero Oduye (The Big Short), Desmond Chiam (The Shannara Chronicles), Miki Ishikawa (The Terror), Noah Mills (The Enemy Within), and Carl Lumbly (Supergirl).

Primetime Emmy-nominee Kari Skogland (The Punisher) is directing the six-episode miniseries with Malcolm Spellman (Empire) serving as showrunner.

TENET Star John David Washington Down For Playing Reed Richards In FANTASTIC FOUR If Kevin Feige Asked

Image

After taking on the lead role of “The Protagonist” in Christopher Nolan’s Tenet, John David Washington’s name keeps coming up when fans discuss the Marvel and DC Universes.

During a recent interview with Nerd Reactor, the actor was asked specifically about superhero roles, and he’s certainly open to the idea. “There’s so many. I think it depends on who’s asking, what director wants to do it with me. We’ll see, I want to stay open. I don’t want to box myself in.”

“Maybe there are characters that haven’t been mentioned yet, or maybe even developed, that haven’t been introduced in any of the films yet. I’d like to see what they come up with, if I ever get asked.” Of course, one character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe many fans would love to see Washington play is Reed Richards, the leader of the Fantastic Four

Asked specifically what he’d say if Marvel Studios President were to offer him the chance to play Mister Fantastic, the actor responded, “I’d say, ‘Well, thank you for having me, thank you for taking this meeting. Where do I sign?'” You can’t blame him for that, though John Krasinski remains the top choice for many comic book fans out there when it comes to Reed.

BATWOMAN: Come Get Your First Official Look At Javicia Leslie Under The Cowl In A New Photo

Image

With filming on season two fully underway (and new set photos surfacing daily), new Batwoman star Javicia Leslie has shared a first official look at her in costume as the new protector of Gotham City, Ryan Wilder!

The photo is from her initial screen test, so this was very likely taken the first time she ever tried on the wig, cowl and complete suit, which is identical to the one Ruby Rose (Kane Kane) wore in season one, but Leslie notes that her character will indeed be putting her own spin on the Batsuit at some point during the season.

While they’ll be a new superheroine under the cowl, the main cast will remain largely the same as Rachel Skarsten (Alice), Meagan Tandy (Sophie Moore), Nicole Kang (Mary Hamilton), Camrus Johnson (Luke Fox), and Dougray Scott (Jacob Kane) are all set to return.

Currently confirmed recurring and guest stars include Shivani Ghai (Safiyah Sohail), Christina Wolfe (Julia Pennyworth), Gabriel Mann (Hush), Leah Gibson (The Whisper), and Nathan Owens (Ocean).

Kate Kane never planned to be Gotham’s new vigilante, but with Batman missing and the city in despair, Kate has armed herself with a passion for social justice and an arsenal of high tech weapons, soaring through the shadowed streets of Gotham as Batwoman. At the end of the first season, Crows Commander Jacob Kane has declared a war on Batwoman, forcing everyone around them to choose sides. Meanwhile, Batwoman’s arch-nemesis Alice is focused on acquiring the one thing that can take down the Bat, pulling off her most devious plan yet with the help of Bruce Wayne’s former best friend Tommy Elliot, now terrorizing the city as the villain Hush. Season two kicks off with a major game-changer that will alter Gotham and The Bat Team forever. As the dust settles, Batwoman has everything working against her – including the recently escaped rogues’ gallery of villains – and everyone will come to see her in a whole new light. Alice meets her match when she becomes entangled with a dangerous foe from her past who knows exactly how to prey on her vulnerabilities. As Luke and Mary find their footing as sidekicks, a romance will shake up their dynamic. Meanwhile, Sophie and Julia’s budding relationship will face its first real test and make Sophie question everything she thought she knew to be true.

Batwoman features:

Javicia Leslie as Ryan Wilder/Batwoman

Rachel Skarsten as Beth Kane/Alice

Meagan Tandy as Sophie Moore

Nicole Kang as Mary Hamilton

Camrus Johnson as Luke Fox

Dougray Scott as Jacob Kane
