HENCHMEN: Check Out The Trailer And Poster For Vertical Entertainment’s Star-Studded Animated Movie

Image

Vertical Entertainment recently acquired the U.S. distribution rights to Henchmen, a new animated feature from writer and director Adam Wood. With a star-studded cast that includes Thomas Middleditch, James Marsden, Rosario Dawson, Alfred Molina, Nathan Fillion, and Craig Robinson, this should definitely be worth checking out on VOD/Digital on October 9th.

Based on a story by Jay D. Waxman and Adam Wood, Henchmen is set in a world of super-villains, evil schemes and global domination – but someone has to take out the trash. Welcome to the world of Henchmen, third class.

When Lester (Middleditch), a fresh-faced recruit, joins the Union of Evil, he is assigned to a motley crew of blue-collar workers led by fallen henchmen Hank. But when Lester accidentally steals a super villain’s ultimate weapon, Hank must break his risk-nothing code to save the boy he’s befriended, even if it means becoming the one thing he has always avoided: a hero.

Superhero movies have sadly been few and far between this year, so this animated adventure should be a breath of fresh air, and the trailer points to it being a funny, action-packed adventure.

That A-List cast is also impossible to ignore, and there are plenty of comic book movie veterans involved.

THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER Set Photo Reveals A Closer Look At Anthony Mackie’s Winged Hero

Image

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is shooting again in Atlanta, Georgia, and after a socially distanced set photo from Sebastian Stan yesterday, we finally get to see the what was on the other side of his lens. Shared by Anthony Mackie on Twitter, the image offers perhaps our best (and definitely highest resolution) shot of The Falcon to date.

It’s an undeniably badass costume, but one he’s unlikely to wear for long if rumors and theories that Sam Wilson will eventually wield the shield as Captain America are, in fact, correct.

Initially, John Walker’s U.S. Agent will take on the role of Captain America in Steve Rogers’s absence, but whether he’s actually on the side of the angels is uncertain, especially if Baron Zemo is pulling the new super soldier’s strings. That’s purely speculation for the time being, however.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier doesn’t have a premiere date, and if claims that Black Widow is being postponed are correct, it could end up being shifted down the calendar like the rest of Marvel Studios’s Phase 4 slate (especially if Black Widow needs to be seen before the Disney+ TV series).

New Olivia Wilde Comments Regarding SPIDER-WOMAN Sparks Speculation That The Film Will Be In The MCU

Image

Olivia Wilde, a recent guest on the Shut Up Evan podcast, declined to say much about Spider-Woman, her most recently announced project at Sony Pictures. However, she did name drop Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, a possible indication that he’s involved with the project.

The wording of Wilde’s statement is leading some MCU fans to speculate that Feige is actually overseeing the film, and that Spider-Woman will be set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

When asked about Spider-Woman, Wilde replied, “All I can say is that is by far the most exciting thing that’s ever happened to me. Not only do I feel like I get to tell a story that…God, it’s like listen to me trying to avoid Kevin Feige’s pellet gun.

Does Marvel and Sony have a deal in place similar to the terms that allowed Tom Holland’s Spider-Man to swing into the MCU? After all, there was a chance that the web-crawler could have left the MCU post Far From Home. Well before Wilde signed on to direct, there was a rumor back in March (just before the world went crazy due to COVID-19) that Feige was interested in bringing Jessica Drew into the MCU in much the same fashion that Peter Parker arrived.

You can listen to Wilde’s appearance on the Shut Up Evan podcast below. While her comments are by no means confirmation, social media is already running with the idea, developing numerous ways that Spider-Woman could be introduced in the MCU.

THE MANDALORIAN’s Shiny New Beskar Armor Spotlighted On First Season 2 Merchandise

Image

The secrecy surrounding season 1 of The Mandalorian meant that merchandise for the series was hard to find last November, but Disney is already releasing items for the upcoming season 2.

For now, the focus on Din Djarin and his shiny new Beskar armor. Toys and Funko Pop figures featuring the bounty hunter in his second set of armor are few and far between, with most content for the show depicting the character in the battered version he was introduced in.

That’s unfortunately the nature of the beast with a series like this one, and chances are there will be a real shortage of merchandise featuring the likes of Boba Fett and Ahsoka Tano this year.

The last thing Disney will want is for first looks at those characters to be revealed through t-shirt designs or leaked toys, so there probably won’t be many Ahsokas under Christmas trees this year. However, it’s likely we will get to see The Child dominate store shelves, especially if the cuteness overload in the first teaser trailer is any sort of indication of what’s on the way.

Hopefully, the curtain will continue to be pulled back on the series in the weeks to come.

BLACK WIDOW Expected To Be Delayed In The Coming Days; SOUL Likely To Skip Theaters For Disney+ Debut

Image

2020 just keeps getting worse. Variety is reporting that a Black Widow delay is imminent, as Disney starts to explore different options for the Marvel Studios movie. Soul, meanwhile, is likely heading to Disney+, skipping a theatrical release altogether and giving the streaming service more new content.

The “impending” Black Widow delay comes shortly after Warner Bros. moved Wonder Woman 1984 from early October to Christmas Day. Candyman was recently pushed into next year, and No Time to Die is now pretty much one of the last major winter blockbusters left standing.

70% of U.S. theaters have reopened their doors, but New York and Los Angeles remain closed, and Tenet proved that a lot of people clearly aren’t ready to head back to their local multiplexes.

As the trade explains, “since the U.S. remains the biggest moviegoing market in the world, it is becoming increasingly difficult for studios to justify rolling out major blockbusters during the pandemic.” The hope was that Black Widow might move to Disney+, but there’s no mention of that in this report.

Reading between the lines, it sounds like Eternals, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and Thor: Love and Thunder could also move if Black Widow is indeed pushed into 2021.
