There’s a lot of confusion surrounding the title of the version of Justice League coming to HBO Max next year, and Warner Bros. really isn’t helping with that! The theatrical version of Justice League was, of course, just “Justice League,” but it’s no secret that Zack Snyder would like his director’s cut to be called Zack Sndyer’s Justice League. 

Unfortunately, he’s hinted that legal problems could pose a problem with that, hence why no one was really surprised when DC FanDome appeared to confirm that it will be titled Justice League: The Snyder Cut. Now, though, there’s another interesting wrinkle to this ongoing story.

Wallpapers released by Warner Bros. during DC FanDome yesterday are labelled simply Justice League Director’s Cut. Could that be the final, official title for the highly anticipated HBO Max release?

At this point, we probably shouldn’t bank on it, as it does feel a little like it’s a work in progress! Why we haven’t received a truly, 100% official title for Justice League is hard to say, but there’s a chance the studio is indeed working on getting the one Snyder wants: Zack Snyder’s Justice League. 

Time will tell, but a firm premiere date would definitely be welcome news for fans right now!

Cameras are once again rolling on The Falcon and The Winter Soldier in Atlanta, Georgia, and another video from the set of the Disney+ TV series has now found its way online. As you can see below, it shows Wyatt Russell’s John Walker/Captain America as he battles two unknown female villains (?).

Watching this, it’s apparent that U.S. Agent’s fighting style is much different to what we saw from Steve Rogers as he smashes his shield into the face of his foes and starts choking one of them.

This brutal style is to be expected from the unhinged Walker, and chances are he’s just as dangerous in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as he is in the comic books. Right now, we have no idea whether this U.S. Agent will be a full-blown villain or someone who goes on to be an anti-hero.

Either way, his “Captain America” is clearly going to bring a very different feel to this shared world, and our first proper look at him in action in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier can’t get here soon enough. When that will happen is hard to say, especially with no first premiere date in place right now.

During Ubisoft’s latest “Ubisoft Forward” presentation earlier this week, it was confirmed that a Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake is coming to the current generation of consoles next January. Developed by Ubisoft’s Pune and Mumbai studios, it’s going to be a faithful recreation of the original game, albeit with some enhancements in terms of gameplay and the visuals. 

Yuri Lowentha is back to voice the titular Prince, game director Pierre-Sylvain Gires assures fans that  the camera and combat have both been improved, while a new targeting system will “[enhance] the velocity of the Prince and his abilities to do amazing moves.” 

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time was originally released on the PlayStation 2, Xbox, and GameCube back in 2003, and received overwhelmingly positive reviews. A release date of January 21st, 2021 has been confirmed by Ubisoft, and while it’s currently only scheduled for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, a Nintendo Switch version if expected to eventually follow. 

We see a lot of video game remakes these days, but this is definitely cause for celebration, and it’s going to be a blast getting to return to this world, especially with updates that ensure it remains faithful to the original without feeling too dated. We’ll be sure to bring you the latest.

A few days ago, Variety reported that rival studios and media measurement and research company Rentrak have been struggling to obtain box office figures for Tenet. The trade explained that the studio has only been sharing weekend figures and not daily numbers (which is obviously the norm). 

It seems this is going to be the case moving forward as well, presumably because Warner Bros. doesn’t want to reveal how poorly Tenet is performing on a daily basis. Of course, the studio is under no obligation to share these figures, but controlling the narrative isn’t doing anyone any favours, and so it’s no wonder there’s a lot of anger aimed at Warner Bros. right now.

On the plus side, we do have the numbers for the past few days, as Tenet made $6.7 million during its second weekend at the North American box office. That gives it a total of $29.5 million domestically, while a $37.3 million haul overseas takes its running foreign total up to $177.5 million.

As a result, Tenet has now passed $200 million at the worldwide box office.

Looking at these figures – which are decent enough during a pandemic – it’s not remotely hard to understand why Warner Bros. recently decided to shift Wonder Woman 1984 to Christmas Day.

The death of Stan “The Man” Lee rocked the comic book community across the globe when he passed in late 2018. It was November when the 95-year old comic publisher, writer, and editor was lost to the world, and less than a month later, audiences were able to see him in an animated cameo.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse hit theaters in December of 2018, in which Miles Morales can be seen interacting with Stan as a comic shop owner, which is fitting. Not only that, but The Man was responsible for selling Miles his first spidey suit.

We recently had the chance to speak with Peter Ramsey (Rise of the Guardians,) who directed the film. Peter also helped the movie receive the Oscar for Best Animated Feature, becoming the first African American to win the award in the process.

When we spoke, we had to be sure to learn about Stan’s cameo, as it was one of the last events that took place in his life. We were surprised to learn that when recording the different cameo shots for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, the team had to travel to Stan’s office because, at that point, the Marvel legend’s vision was already failing.

Literary Joe: Were you involved with the Stan Lee scene at all, and can you tell me about that? I know that was one of the last things that he was involved with.

Peter Ramsey: Yeah, it was kind of wild. We had a couple of different versions of the scene, and we were all happiest with the version that was closest to the exchange that ended up in the movie.

And we went to Stan’s office to record them. I can’t remember when in the year it was, but it was relatively late in making the movie. Yeah, it was really wild.

I mean, Stan Lee, that was the first time I had never met him. So that was like, Oh my God, I can’t believe it’s Stan, the Man! This is great.

Literary Joe: And he was there for your movie, too!

Peter Ramsey: And that blew my mind. That really took me back to being like 12 years old and looking at Stan’s Soapbox in the comic books. It was just, wow, he was so nice, man. He was just a nice, kind guy.

It was close enough to the end for him that he was having real trouble seeing. So, that was kind of difficult. But, he was still up and around.

And he was talking and shaking hands. It was just a joy. He was a sweetheart.

Hype is certainly building around DC superhero films and they’ve accomplished it by creating a lineup that show’s they’re willing to grow and move on from past mistakes. However, the inherent nature of cinematic universes means you can never truly dump those past mistakes in the trash can but if you’re DC Films, you can conveniently abandon those miscalculations on an alternate Earth.

That definitely appears to be the case as the upcoming Flash movie from director Andy Muschietti has confirmed that it will implement elements of the Flashpoint storyline from DC Comics, 2011 line-wide storyline which altered DC Universe by creating an alternate timeline when Barry Allen goes back in time to save his mother from death at the hands of Reverse-Flash.

In addition to starring Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen, the film has already snagged Michael Keaton to reprise his role as Tim Burton’s Batman, along with Ben Affleck’s Caped Crusader. Though embroiled in controversy with WB at the moment, Ray Fisher’s Cyborg is also in the midst of negotiations for an appearance.

During one of today’s earlier FanDome Fan Q&A sessions, Barbara Muschietti (Andy’s sister and producer on the film) dropped an interesting teaser that should have DC Comics readers speculating for weeks.

“Well, I want you to go see it, so I’m not going to tell you a lot,” explained the Mama screenwriter and It-Chapter Two producer. “But what I will tell you is that it’s a ride. It’s going to be fun and exciting and there are a lot of DC characters in it. Flash is the superhero of this film because he is the bridge between all of these characters and timelines. And in a way, it restarts everything and doesn’t forget anything.“

The DCEU certainly has its fair share of supporters and if the WB can find a way to keep moving forward with its current cast of characters while shedding some of its negative past, that’s a win-win for the studio and fans alike. It also means that The Flash might be the most important upcoming DC Film to date…

Day 1 of the second part of DC FanDome is underway and we have tons of exciting news to share.  On the film side, Junkie XL (Thomas Holkenborg) has shared a sneak preview of his upcoming action/main theme for Zack Snyder’s Justice League.  Check it out below.

“I’m so excited to be back and finish Justice League with Zack- the Zack Snyder cut.  I can’t tell you how excited I am.  There’s a lot of work that needs to be done obviously, even though I already did a lot of work.  Righ now, I’m in the middle of finishing an action bit with the new Justice League theme and I want to preview a little bit of that.”  

When Zack Snyder relinquished filmmaking duties on Justice League to deal with a grievous family tragedy, Joss Whedon was hired and along with that transition, Whedon decided to replace Junkie XL with Danny Elfman. Now, Holkenborg is able to return along with Snyder to finish their original vision.

What do you think of the snippet from Junkie XL? For comparison’s sake, we’ve also included Elfman’s Hero’s theme, which does have its fair share of fans. While we only heard a short snippet of XL’s theme, it’s clear that the two legendary composers definitely have distinctly different styles.
