New SUPERGIRL Season 6 And THE FLASH Season 7 Promo Posters Released By The CW

Image

The CW has released another couple of colorful promo posters for the upcoming seasons of two of its Arrowverse shows, The Flash and Supergirl.

The Scarlet Speedster is racing towards his seventh season, which will find Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) attempting to deal with the fallout from the Crises on Infinite Earths crossover event. We’d usually be seeing the Fastest Man Alive return for his latest adventure in October, but production delays relating to COVID-19 pandemic means Season 7 won’t be with us until January, 2021.

The Girl of Steel, meanwhile, won’t be back for her sixth season until even later next year (no official premiere date has been announced). That show’s delay also stemmed from the shutdowns, but the hold up was extended due to star Melisa Benoist falling pregnant with her first child.

Check out the posters below along with the previous released key art and let us know which of the Arrowverse shows you’re most looking forward to seeing back on your screens in the comments.

THE NEW MUTANTS Is Indeed Still Coming To Theaters On August 28…Even If Most Of Them Are Closed

Image

Variety reports that despite everything happening with the COVID-19 pandemic right now, The New Mutants remains on track for its planned August 28th release. As the trade notes, it was widely expected that the movie would be delayed yet again, but Disney sent exhibitors a lengthy email on Monday outlining their big screen plans for the Marvel Comics adaptation.

The studio, meanwhile, has also confirmed that tickets can be sold as of August 18th. As one exhibitor tells them, “It’s for sure opening August 28th!”

It is, of course, still possible that Disney will change these plans, and with only 1309 of the U.S.’s 6021 theaters actually open, things don’t bode well for The New Mutants at the box office. However, if it’s true that the movie has to be released in multiplexes due to contractual agreements made by 20th Century Fox, it could play for one weekend before being moved to Disney+.

It’s hard to say for sure, but theater owners were banking on big releases like Mulan and Tenet to bring back paying customers, not The New Mutants (which was predicted to flop even before the pandemic).

Now, the movie is the first major blockbuster to open in theaters before they were forced to close, something we could have never guessed would be the case earlier this year. Plans for The New Mutants should start becoming clear over the next couple of weeks, so we’ll keep you guys updated.

Are you planning to see The New Mutants in theaters?

BATWOMAN: Ruby Rose Opens Up About Her “Tough” Decision To Leave The CW Series

Image

There have been a lot of unexpected news stories this year, but one of the most surprising came when it was revealed that Ruby Rose had decided to step down as Batwoman‘s Kate Kane. There were conflicting reports about what led to her stepping away from the role, some of which paint Rose as being in the wrong, while others indicate that The CW didn’t treat her as well as they should have.

Now, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Rose has elaborated on her decision and points to an on-set accident in 2019 being the beginning of the end of her time in the Arrowverse.

“Being the lead of a superhero show is tough. [Laughs] Being the lead in anything is tough,” the actress tells the site. “But I think, in that particular instance, it was a lot more difficult because I was still recovering from my surgery. I had my surgery and then 10 days later I went to work, which maybe wasn’t the best idea. Most people take about a month or three off before they return to work, so it was definitely made more difficult by that.”

Rose went on to talk about how much she enjoyed her experience working on Batwoman before alluding to some issues behind the scenes. “I’m proud of myself for working under sort of interesting circumstances, you know, with the recovery and all. I would definitely do [TV] again. I just think that it was also time for me to take a break to fully heal and then return.”

It also appears as if her decision wasn’t solely down to this unspecified injury. “It wasn’t so much [the injury], especially because after we wrapped up we didn’t get to finish the real finale because of COVID. You know, you have time in quarantine and sort of isolation to just think about a lot of different things and what you want to achieve in life and what you want to do.”

“I think for both [me and the producers], it was a great opportunity to have a dialogue about a lot of things. I respect them so much and they’ve been so respectful to me.”

It certainly doesn’t sound like there’s much in the way of bad blood there, but it does seem possible Rose was rushed back to work before she was ready. That might just have signaled the end for the actress on The CW series, though it still feels like there’s more to this one than meets the eye.

Whether we’ll ever learn the full story obviously remains to be seen, but for now, the Arrowverse now has a new Batwoman in the form of Javicia Leslie’s Ryan Wilder.

WarnerMedia CFO Warns There Could Be Further Delays With Titles Like WONDER WOMAN 1984 And DUNE

Image

It’s been a tough week for those working at WarnerMedia as mass layoffs have been made across the entire company and its subsidiaries (including DC Comics). The company’s CFO, John Stephens, addressed investors on a recent call (via The Hollywood Reporter) and touched upon a number of topics, including Warner Bros.’ film slate.

While there may now be plans in place for Tenet to be released internationally at the end of this month and then select cities in the U.S. in early September, the future beyond that is unclear, with big question marks surrounding upcoming titles like Wonder Woman 1984 and Dune

“I am not certain where those [films] are going to go,” Stephens explained, adding that “further delays in some of the titles” could happen as a the studio tries to figure out what comes next.

Just like Disney were once keeping an eye on Tenet to decide how to handle Mulan‘s release, it now seems likely that Warner Bros. are watching that movie closely to see how it performs when it arrives on Disney+ for $29.99 next month. After all, WarnerMedia could do something similar with both Wonder Woman 1984 and Dune on HBO Max should theaters remain closed.

We’ll have to wait and see, but there’s clearly still a lot of uncertainty at WarnerMedia right now.

The World’s Final Blockbuster Video Store Is Becoming An Airbnb This September…For $4 A Night

Image

TMZ is reporting that the last remaining Blockbuster Video store is being converted into an Airbnb…for three nights only. Manager Sandi Harding is promoting the store with a once-in-a -lifetime experience which will allow you stay in a makeshift living room smack bang in the middle of the store!

Only three people will be given the opportunity to stay the night, and the crazy thing is that you’ll only have to pay $4 for the privilege. The reason for that is because Harding wants to thank her local community for supporting the world’s last Blockbuster Video, but the rub is that you have to be a resident of Deschutes County to book yourself in for the night.

The overnight sleepovers are set to take place between September 18th and September 20th, and free pizza, Pepsi, candy, and popcorn will be included in that bargain $4 price tag.

Oh, and plenty of movies to watch during the night, of course!

A lot of you will probably only remember Blockbuster Video from Captain Marvel, but for those of you who grew up renting titles from the stores, this will without a doubt be a real blast from the past.

Check out some photos below:
