JUSTICE LEAGUE: Zack Snyder Comments On His Movie’s Place In The Wider DC Extended Universe

Image

A lot has changed in the DC Extended Universe since Zack Snyder was working on Justice League, and films like Aquaman, Shazam!, and Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey have pointed to Warner Bros. having moved on from the storylines set in place by the filmmaker during those early years.

When Zack Snyder’s Justice League arrives on HBO Max in early to mid-2021, it’s unlikely to affect future movies set in the DCEU. Instead, the movie/limited series is almost certainly going to be standalone in nature, and Snyder himself has now clarified how it fits into the larger picture.

In an interview with Beyond The Trailer’s Grace Randolph, Snyder explained that his “main focus” is to finish the arc he started with 2013’s Man of Steel and acknowledged that the theatrical cut (which he still has not seen) is likely “tighter in continuity” than his version of Justice League

“Frankly, the DC cinematic universe has branched like a tree and blossomed and grown in amazing and great ways,” the filmmaker began. “But for me, where [Justice League’] falls, I believe that it really sort of represents its own path. It’s kind of separate now from the DC cinematic universe continuity. And I think that’s a good thing.”

It sounds like Snyder believes his Justice League now exists in its own separate universe, and it could lead to stories from this world continuing on HBO Max in any number of spinoff films/TV shows.

THE BATMAN Fan Posters Pit The Dark Knight Against Deathstroke In An HBO Max Limited Series

Image

With so much secrecy surrounding Warner Bros.’ plans for the DC Extended Universe on HBO Max, it’s hard to know what to expect from the streaming service and this comic book world. One persistent, and very hard to believe, rumour is that Ben Affleck will reprise the role of Batman in a limited series also starring Joe Manganiello as Deathstroke.

A show like that would obviously serve as The Batman movie Affleck once planned to direct. However, not only is it hard to imagine the actor reprising the role, it’s also impossible to imagine this coming to HBO Max when there’s already a prequel to Matt Reeves’ own take on The Batman

Regardless, it’s definitely a nice thought, and artist Bosslogic has shared a couple of very cool fan posters imagining what such a series could look like. Look closely, and you’ll notice that it also teases possible appearances from The Joker and The Riddler, and the fact we missed out on this battle between the Dark Knight and Deathstroke will never not sting!

Affleck is likely to return for ADR work for Zack Snyder’s Justice League, while Manganiello’s original post-credits scene as Slade Wilson is bound to also be included in that, so that’s something.

AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Star Clark Gregg Reveals How He Thinks Coulson Could Reunite With The Avengers

Image

Agent Coulson died at the hands of Loki in The Avengers, and Nick Fury used the S.H.I.E.L.D. agent’s death to manipulate Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Hawkeye, Black Widow, and The Hulk into assembling. Since then, Coulson has been resurrected in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but we’ve yet to see him cross paths with anyone other than Fury.

While it almost feels like the moment has passed, could Coulson ever reunite with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes? The ABC series has existed in something of a bubble these past few years, but during an interview with ComicBook.com, actor Clark Gregg admitted he was disappointed not to get the chance to meet up with the team again before the events of Avengers: Endgame.

However, he does have an idea for how they could cross paths again!

“Well, I mean, you know, the crush on Cap never dies. But I always, I mean, I felt that same sadness, just because really, the whole thing started, and I think the reason Coulson became what Coulson was really, was about Robert [Downey Jr.] and those scenes together and the repartee,” Gregg explained.

“He makes you that much better and brings out so much more than you might normally see in a scene. The way that he took those scenes and that character on, brought me to life, in a way, so that I didn’t get to have that. I was like, ‘Come on, you haven’t done a one-shot.’ Why couldn’t there be a really cool one-shot where they’re on a mission, we’re on a mission… ‘Oops!’ You know?”

That would have been fun to see, but it’s also somewhat unlikely. However, now that Kevin Feige is in charge of Marvel Television, perhaps he’ll find a way to incorporate the events of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. into the MCU? If nothing else, he could probably find a way to use Coulson in the MCU again!

What do you guys think?

GODZILLA VS. KONG Action Figures Reveal A New Weapon For Skull Island’s Resident Kaiju

Image

Godzilla vs. Kong was supposed to be released this year, but COVID-19 has changed all of Warner Bros.’ plans and pushed the highly anticipated crossover to 2021. Had things been a little more normal, we probably would have been anticipating an action-packed new trailer at Comic-Con next Saturday, but the studio won’t be taking part in Comic-Con@Home.

Despite that, merchandise for the Kong: Skull Island/Godzilla: King of the Monsters follow-up continues finding its way online, and thanks to the folks over at Godzilla-Movies.com, we have a first look at action figures for both iconic monsters.

Kong looks pretty much the same he did the last time we saw him, but the giant-sized Kong is wielding a brand-new weapon you have to believe he will end up using in his battles against Godzilla (after all, he doesn’t have that beast’s powers, and instead relies on brute strength).

With these toys comes a brief new plot synopsis that reads, “Legends collide as Godzilla and Kong, the two most powerful forces of nature, clash in a spectacular battle for the ages! The monster war rages on the surface and deep within our world as the spectacular secret realm of the titans known as the Hollow Earth is revealed!”

BLACK WIDOW Promo Art Reveals Plenty Of Badass New Shots Of Scarlett Johansson’s Super Spy

Image

Originally set to be released back in May, Black Widow is now coming our way this November (on the day we were supposed to be watching Eternals, a movie we haven’t seen anything official from at this stage). There are lots of reports about theaters not reopening this side of next summer, but nothing has been confirmed, and Tenet still has that – somewhat optimistic? – August release date.

We can only hope that we do get to see Black Widow this side of Christmas, but with that current release date fast approaching, some new promo art has surfaced courtesy of listings on Hot Topic.

While the pause button has definitely been hit on the movie’s marketing campaign, it is good to see stuff like this out there, and is something for fans to get excited about as they eagerly await Black Widow‘s release. Should theaters remain shut, it’s possible it could debut on Disney+, but also highly unlikely given how much money Disney would ultimately lose.

Recently, we heard that two new trailers had been classified, but it was later reported that they’re only being shown in theaters, and that they feature little in the way of new footage. Still, we’re bound to see new content from Black Widow at some point, even if Marvel Studios is skipping Comic-Con@Home.
