BOBA FETT Project Rumored To Be In Development For Disney+ Following THE MANDALORIAN

Image

In one of the most exciting news stories of 2020 so far, we learned that Temuera Morrison will play Boba Fett in season two of The Mandalorian. It’s thought that his role in the series will be a minor one, though there have been rumblings that he will have a larger part to play in season three.

Ultimately, it’s impossible to imagine the iconic bounty hunter not getting a decent amount of screentime moving forward because fans won’t be happy if he comes back and then vanishes again!

Now, a new rumour doing the rounds (via The Direct) claims that a Boba Fett project (meaning either a movie or TV show) is in the works for Disney+. Josh Trank was originally attached to helm a movie starring the character, but that was scrapped not long after being announced.

Since then, the character has remained in limbo, and after Solo: A Star Wars Story underperformed, it was starting to look like other Legacy characters being given the spotlight was in doubt. Something has changed, though, and Disney+ could be a good fit for Fett.

Who knows, perhaps we’ll get a Fett/Captain Rex team-up series, which would be a heck of a lot of fun.

For now, though, this is just a rumour…

more big reveals about The Mandalorian season two!

10. WWE Wrestler Sasha Banks Could Be Playing Sabine Wren

Sabine2

Rumour has it that, alongside some other familiar faces, we’ll get to see Sabine Wren in The Mandalorian season two. Given who else is showing up, it wouldn’t make much sense for us not to catch up with the character, especially when she once wielded the Darksaber.

As for who is playing her, it’s widely believed that it could be WWE wrestler Sasha Banks. She was quietly added to the series earlier this year, and, well, the visual similarities are undeniably striking.

Some fans won’t like the fact a wrestler is playing a character as important as this one, but Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, and company must have seen something special in her, so we need to have faith. We just have to hope the fan-favourite Mandalorian is handled well.

9. Post-Production Is Taking Place Remotely

Mando33

While we’re unsure what the plan is for shows like The Falcon and The Winter Soldier and WandaVision, new Disney CEO Bob Chapek recently confirmed that shooting on season two of The Mandalorian wrapped before COVID-19 started closing down productions, and noted that post-production is now taking place remotely.

Season two is tentatively scheduled for October, and that’s obviously going to remain the case as Chapek confirmed in a recent interview that, “there will be no delay on [The] Mandalorian.”

That’s definitely good news, and it gives us something to look forward to. However, if work is finished soon and those Marvel TV shows are delayed, perhaps we’ll end up seeing it a little sooner?

8. Some Big Name Directors Have Been Added To The Mix

Reed

It’s believed that both Dave Filoni and Bryce Dallas Howard will each direct an episode of The Mandalorian season two, but we’re still not sure who is set to be in charge of the rest.

However, on Star Wars Day, we got some clarification when Peyton Reed (Ant-Man and The Wasp) and Robert Rodriguez (Sin City) both confirmed that they have helmed episodes this year.

Taika Waititi sadly won’t be back, but we can clearly trust Lucasfilm when it comes to enlisting top filmmakers for this Disney+ series. Oh, and there will once again be eight chapters!

7. Katee Sackhoff Brings Bo-Katan Kryze From Animation To Live-Action

Bo

Battlestar Galactica star Katee Sackhoff first played Bo-Katan Kryze in The Clone Wars, and later reprised the role in Star Wars Rebels. While Sabine Wren wielded the Darksaber for a time, it was last seen in Kryze’s possession, so it makes perfect sense for her to play the character in live-action.

This will make some fans wonder why Ashley Eckstein isn’t starring as Ahsoka Tano, of course, but it’s still a cool move on Lucasfilm’s part, even if it’s likely to only be a brief cameo.

The Mandalorian‘s first season ended with the reveal that Moff Gideon has the Darksaber, so we’re obviously going to learn how he got his hands on it…sadly, that doesn’t bode well for Kryze!

6. Temuera Morrison Is Set To Play Boba Fett (Really!)

Fett

Yes, it’s hard to believe, but Attack of the Clones star Temuera Morrison really is going to play Boba Fett in The Mandalorian season two. Just like in the Expanded Universe, he managed to find his way out of the Sarlaac Pit, and was clearly hot on the heels of Mando after coming across Fennec Shand’s body during the first season.

We have no idea what his motivations are, but the fact he’s a clone – which Baby Yoda also appears to be – is likely to come into play and, well, we’re kind of hoping that he’s an anti-hero here!

Either way, this is beyond exciting, and there are already rumblings that the plan is for Boba Fett to have a much larger role when season three arrives (fingers crossed for a spinoff series).

5. Oh, And He’s Probably Playing Captain Rex Too

Rex

The second Morrison was cast, fans started wondering whether we could see him as Captain Rex as well. After all, the former Clone Trooper was still alive and well at the end of Star Wars Rebels, and he’s one of the biggest breakout stars from both that and The Clone Wars

Unsurprisingly, just a couple of days after the news about Boba Fett broke, it was reported that the actor is likely going to appear as Rex in The Mandalorian, and that’s equally as exciting in many way.

The show will need to explain why Morrison has multiple roles (Attack of the Clones was a long time ago, and we’re willing to bet many viewers have never seen the animated spinoffs), but if The Child is indeed a clone, then we can likely expect a lot of loose plot threads to tie together.

4. Maul Could End Up Making An Appearance

Maul343

Solo: A Star Wars Story brought Darth Maul back to a live-action setting, but that’s not something we’re expecting The Mandalorian to touch on as the villain’s story ended in Star Wars Rebels.

A resurrection is definitely off the cards, but if we’re going to be treated to an episode delving into the history of the Darksaber, then Maul showing up (even for just a voiceless cameo) has to be inevitable, right? Well, we certainly hope so anyway, and a social media tease from Ray Park may have confirmed his involvement in this next batch of episodes.

Sam Witwer voices Maul these days, while Park continues to play him, and the actor sharing the Sith logo alongside “This is the Way” has obviously sent speculation into overdrive in recent weeks.

3. The Episode Titles

Man

These are reportedly the episode titles for season two of The Mandalorian:

– Chapter One: The Search
– Chapter Two: The Confrontation
– Chapter Three: The Bounty
– Chapter Four: The Republic
– Chapter Five: The Loyalist
– Chapter Six: The Sorcerer
– Chapter Seven: The Return
– Chapter Eight: The Empire

Given what we now know about what’s to come in the show, it’s not that difficult to figure out what some of these might be referring (does “The Return” = the return of Boba Fett?), and while they’re not 100% confirmed, the mention of “The Empire” is undeniably intriguing, don’t you think?

2. Season 3 Is Already In Pre-Production

Man1

We obviously haven’t seen The Mandalorian season two yet, but the show has already been renewed for a third year. Apparently, writing has been happening for a while now, while the production design department actually began working on designing sets in late April.

Things will have obviously been slowed down by COVID-19, but Disney is clearly confident in the show continuing for the foreseeable future, and this likely means we won’t get all the answers we’ve been waiting for during season two (like The Child’s origin story, for example).

Now, we just have to keep our fingers crossed that it’s able to premiere next fall on Disney+…

1. Rosario Dawson Brings Ashoka Tano To Live-Action

Tano

We’re sure you’re aware of this, but we had to end this recap with arguably the biggest The Mandalorian season two news we’ve had to date. Ashoka Tano has been a firm fan-favourite since first being introduced in The Clone Wars and after following her story there, and in Star Wars Rebels, a live-action debut has felt like an inevitability for a while now.

Unfortunately, as we mentioned, it won’t be Ashley Eckstein who brings her to life. Instead, Lucasfilm has gone with A-List actress Rosario Dawson which is definitely an understandable decision.

Some fans will be disappointed by this decision, of course, but if there are big plans for Ahsoka moving forward, it makes sense for a bigger name like Dawson to play her. She’s a perfect fit for this version, and there are already rumblings that she could get a spinoff series of her own.

SUPERMAN & LOIS Synopsis & Poster Put The Man Of Steel And Intrepid Reporter Front And Center

Image

After revealing their 2020/2021 schedule, The CW has released a synopsis and poster for Superman & Lois. The former sheds quite a bit more light on the series, emphasising that the story will revolve around Clark Kent and Lois Lane tackling the challenge of being the parents of two teenage boys.

Their return to Smallville is also confirmed, and we now have more details on how Lana Lang (Clark’s “first love”) factors into things. Meanwhile, it appears as if General Samuel Lane will be sending the Man of Steel on missions, while that “stranger” is going to shake things up in a big way.

As for the poster, it puts the show’s two leads (Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch) front and centre.

Here’s the lengthy synopsis for the series which gives us a better idea of what to expect:

SUPERMAN & LOIS — In SUPERMAN & LOIS, after years of facing megalomaniacal supervillains, monsters wreaking havoc on Metropolis, and alien invaders intent on wiping out the human race, the world’s most famous superhero, The Man of Steel aka Clark Kent (Tyler Hoechlin, “Teen Wolf”) and comic books’ most famous journalist, Lois Lane (Elizabeth Tulloch, “Grimm”), come face to face with one of their greatest challenges ever – dealing with all the stress, pressures and complexities that come with being working parents in today’s society. Complicating the already daunting job of raising two boys, Clark and Lois must also concern themselves with whether or not their sons Jonathan (Jordan Elsass, “Little Fires Everywhere”) and Jordan (Alexander Garfin, “The Peanuts Movie”) could inherit their father’s Kryptonian superpowers as they grow older.

Returning to Smallville to handle some Kent family business, Clark and Lois are reacquainted with Lana Lang (Emmanuelle Chriqui, “Entourage”), a local loan officer who also happens to be Clark’s first love, and her Fire Chief husband Kyle Cushing (Erik Valdez, “Graceland”). The adults aren’t the only ones rediscovering old friendships in Smallville as the Kent sons are reacquainted with Lana and Kyle’s rebellious daughter, Sarah (Inde Navarrette, “Wander Darkly”). Of course, there’s never a dull moment in the life of a superhero, especially with Lois’ father, General Samuel Lane (Dylan Walsh, “Nip/Tuck”) looking for Superman to vanquish a villain or save the day at a moment’s notice. Meanwhile, Superman and Lois’ return to idyllic Smallville is set to be upended when a mysterious stranger (Wolé Parks, “All American”) enters their lives. Based on the characters from DC created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, SUPERMAN & LOIS is written and executive produced by Todd Helbing (“The Flash”) and executive produced by Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Geoff Johns. The series is from Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.

THE NEW MUTANTS: The Version Coming To Theaters In August Is The Same One Test Audiences Saw In 2017

Image

The New Mutants has been hit by delay after delay and, believe it or not, was actually shot back in 2017. Initially scheduled for an April 13th, 2018 debut, it was pushed back several times before Disney (who had acquired Twentieth Century Fox by that point) scheduled it for earlier this year.

The COVID-19 pandemic changed things yet again, though, but we now know that the Marvel movie will reach theaters – assuming they’re open – this summer. However, back when it was moved to August 2nd, 2019, it was suggested that The New Mutants was set to undergo extensive reshoots.

Apparently, the plan was to add new characters and change the film’s tone, but The Hollywood Reporter has now confirmed that they never took place. As a result, “the film remains largely what test audiences saw back in 2017, but with finished visual effects.”

In other words, we’re getting the cut director Josh Boone originally delivered to Fox before the studio decided to make a host of changes. That doesn’t mean it’s going to be bad, of course, as we saw the studio make a lot of major errors with these Marvel Comics adaptations over the years.

There’s no denying that it’s going to be fun seeing the original cut of The New Mutants, and we now just have to hope that things are normal enough for us to be able to watch it on the big screen.

Click on the “Next” button below for some
spoilery new details about The New Mutants!

The Demon Bear

Demon-Bear

According to the magazine, “The New Mutants begins with Dani dreaming of a night a mysterious force – later revealed as the Demon Bear – attacked her home on a Cheyenne Nation reservation during a snowstorm.” They’re shown being pursued through their home, but the monster itself is never actually fully revealed (its just hinted at).

Interestingly, it’s not until the end of the film that “[Dani] discovers that the bear casting a shadow across her life is the product of her own troubles psyche.”

If this all sounds familiar, it’s likely because director Josh Boone is clearly following the comic books!

Magik’s Dark Past

Magik

The New Mutants is going to be PG-13, but it definitely sounds like it could veer into R-Rated territory.

We’ve already shared some images of the terrifying Smiley Men (you can check those out by clicking HERE), and it’s now been confirmed that they will pursue the heroes through the hospital. However, the reason for their existence is both unsettling and definitely surprising.

“[Drawn] from Ilyana’s tortured past, these 7 foot tall creatures have dangling limbs and hideously grinning faces.” According to Boone, “There were things we didn’t want to directly speak about, like sex trafficking, so we found a way to personify them the way a child might remember.”

Wolfsbane’s Transformation

Wolfsbane

As you may have noticed in what little we’ve seen from The New Mutants, Wolfsbane has a “W” branded on her neck. Apparently, we actually see her get that, so the movie is obviously going to delve into the origin stories of these mutant characters.

Here’s where things get really interesting, though. It’s said that the character’s “wolf” form is portrayed with the use of a the same, real-life wolf/dog that appeared in 2018’s Alpha

“Rahne fights the bear in the form of her lycanthropic counterpart, Wolfsbane,” according to the magazine. “Maisie Williams wore nail and teeth extensions.” Clearly, we’ll see a couple of versions of the character in the film, and that’s definitely an exciting prospect.

Lockheed

Lockheed

We’ve been hearing rumblings that the alien dragon Lockheed could make some sort of appearance in The New Mutants, but that’s now been confirmed by the magazine. There are still no official images of Illyana’s alien friend, but we do know a little more about what he’ll be getting up to in the movie.

“Method Studios also brought to life the animated character Lockheed, a little pet dragon who spends much of his time perched on Illyana’s shoulder,” the magazine confirms in its feature.

Unfortunately, no further information is revealed about how Lockheed comes into Magik’s life. However, we can probably safely assume that it has something to do with the hero’s visit to Limbo.

The Hospital

NM23232

After the aforementioned nightmare Dani Moonstar has, she wakes up to find herself in the hospital run by Dr. Cecilia Reyes. It’s then that she meets both her fellow mutant inmates and the doctor.

“Inside the hospital, Dr. Reyes keeps watch on her mutant captives from a central control room, where dozens of old-school cathode ray tube monitors display CCTV feeds from across the entire campus,” the magazine explains. “The cameras have the ability to monitor each mutants health including organs/vital signs and they have overlays showing their body systems etc.”

Initially, fans suspected that Reyes would be tied to Mister Sinister in some way, but it doesn’t sound like she will have anyone pulling her strings when we finally meet her in The New Mutants

The Villainous Dr. Cecilia Reyes

Reyes

“Only in the film’s final act do the five young mutants realize the potential of their powers in a high-stakes battle against not only their captor, Dr. Reyes, but also the giant demon bear who’s supernatural presence has been growing throughout the film,” reads a makeshift synopsis of sorts.

“However, it’s just before the bear makes his dramatic entrance Reyes reveals her own mutant power: the ability to create a smothering force field which she throws around Dani and her companions.” Brace yourself for spoilers with this next bit, though, as her final fate is revealed!

“Reyes is distracted from smothering the mutants by a snow storm building outside. As the storm closes in, the demon bear bursts through a wall and swallows her whole.” Ouch!

NM231

This is an awesome shot of Magik, and it’s clear that as we follow her story in The New Mutants, Illyana Rasputin will gain control over her powers and become the badass we know from the comics.

As well as the mystical armour which has appeared down Magik’s arm, we also see the Soulsword.

NM23

We mentioned this above, but as you can see, Reyes is using her powers to try to kill the mutants who have come into her “care.” She looks like she’s in a bad way here, though.

Reyes was an unexpected choice of villain for The New Mutants, and it will be interesting to see how her motivations are explained here, especially as she’s clearly a mutant too.

NM23121

Demon Bear has invaded this hospital, and it seemingly lies in ruins as a result. It looks like that’s Magik the monster has come face to face with, and we’re pretty sure she’s the one who destroys him.

Time will tell on that front, of course, but Demon Bear definitely makes for a very cool visual on screen.

NM2312

Sunspot is a fan-favourite character from the comic books, and he’s another mutant who is seemingly going to embrace his powers in a big way over the course of The New Mutants

This is an awesome shot of him powered up, and it’s a shame we’re not going to see more of these heroes moving forward as they all have a lot of potential on the big screen.

AVATAR 2 Behind-The-Scenes Photo Gives Us A First Look At Kate Winslet In A Mo-Cap Suit

Image

It was announced back in 2017 (yes, these movie have been in production for a long time) that Kate Winslet had joined the cast of James Cameron’s Avatar sequels, and thanks to a new behind-the-scenes image, we have our first look at the Titanic star on set.

The photo features the Academy Award-winner alongside fellow franchise newcomer Cliff Curtis (Fear The Walking Dead) and returning stars Zoe Saldana (Avengers: Endgame) and Sam Worthington (Clash of the Titans).

We don’t have many details on Winslet’s role, but we do know that her character goes by Ronal. It was assumed that she would have to be a Na’vi with that name, and her motion-capture suit would seem to confirm it.

Check out the photo below, along with a previously released shot of Sigourney Weaver as the returning Dr. Grace Augustine.

From the set of the sequels: @ZoeSaldana, Sam Worthington, Kate Winslet, and Cliff Curtis taking a break from underwater performance capture for a quick photo!

Fun fact: Much of the performance capture took place in this 900,000 gallon tank, built specifically for the sequels. pic.twitter.com/NSfqoZ6jXJ
