Gore Verbinski Reportedly Set To Helm An Untitled Animated Film For Netflix

Gore Verbinski Exits Directing Channing Tatum's 'Gambit' – Variety

Pirates of the Caribbean director Gore Verbinski has signed on to helm a new animated film for Netflix, according to Discussing Film.

We have no idea what the project will be about, but it’s said to be a CG animated film based on an original concept from the director, who will also produce.

Verbinski has previously helmed the likes of The Ring, The Weather Man, The Lone Ranger, the first three Pirates of the Caribbean movies, and most recently 2016’s The Cure for Wellness. He last foray into the world of animation resulted in the well-received Rango.

Will WWE 2K21 Be Replaced By Another Video Game?

WWE 2K20 Cover Superstars Becky Lynch & Roman Reigns Usher In ...

Switching to the world of video games next, and we may have some disappointing news for fans of WWE’s 2K series.

After the lackluster critical and commercial reaction to 2K20, rumor has it that Visual Concepts and 2K Sports have cancelled plans for 2K21. However, a “different kind of WWE game from a different kind of game developer” is reportedly in the works as a replacement.

We don’t have any details on that game, but you can check out the video report for yourselves here.

Disney May Be Considering A Live-Action Remake Of The Black Cauldron

Is 'The Black Cauldron' (1985) available to watch on UK Netflix ...

It was recently revealed that Disney’s Robin Hood was next in line for the live-action treatment, but we’re hearing that the Mouse House may also be considering a new take on The Black Cauldron.

A notorious flop, the 1985 fantasy adventure has long been considered the black sheep of Disney’s animated library, but our source indicates that the studio may have decided to revisit the property amid renewed interest in the fantasy genre, and could look into re-adapting Lloyd Alexander’s The Chronicles of Prydain.

Whether that would be for the big screen or Disney+ is not clear at this point, but even if this is something Disney is considering, it sounds like it’s very early days.

The Black Knight Will Reportedly Sport A Comic-Accurate Costume In Marvel’s Eternals

10 Things You Need To Know About Marvel's Black Knight | CBR

Although we’ve only seen Kit Harington’s Dane Whitman dressed in civilian garb in the various Eternals set photos that were shared online, the character will reportedly don a comic-accurate Black Knight costume at some point in the Marvel Studios film.

The Direct reports that because pre-production was rushed in order to meet the movie’s filming schedule, digital elements will be have to be added to Harington’s outfit to complete the look in post. This wouldn’t be the first time Marvel has utilized CGI to enhance a character’s costume, but The Black Knight has sported several different costumes over the years, so “comic-accurate” takes on a much broader meaning in this instance.

Anyway, we assume it’ll be some combunation of a sword, a helmet and a cloak!

Possible Venom 2 Trailer Description

First Look At Woody Harrelson As Cletus Kasady In 'Venom 2' Revealed

Finally, we have a possible description of the first trailer for Venom 2, which is expected to debut at some point over the next couple of weeks.

The breakdown comes from a Russian site, so after being filtered through Google Translate it’s a bit all over the place, but you should be able to get the gist. Apparently, the teaser is quite Carnage heavy, and begins with Cletus Kasady terrifying some trick-or-treaters by transforming into his monstrous symbiote form. There’s also some Eddie Brock action, and a shot of Kasady being fired upon by the police right at the end.

Honestly, this sounds made up to us, but check out the full thing here and let us know what you think.

WESTWORLD: Everyone Fights To Survive In The New Promo For Season 3, Episode 6: “Decoherence”

Image

With only three episodes remaining, Westworld season three has nearly reached its finish line and it looks like next week’s episode is only going to continue upping the ante as we barrel toward what is sure to be an epic finale.

The latest synopsis is predictably vague, simply reading “Do a lot of people tell you that you need therapy?,” a phrase that could probably be applied to a number of main characters, but based on the latest promo, it’s likely in reference to either Maeve (Thandie Newton) or Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood).

Jennifer Getzinger directed next week’s episode and also helmed the season three finale. She should be a relatively familiar name to comic book movie fans, having directed an episode of Marvel’s Daredevil, three episodes of Marvel’s Jessica Jones and two episodes (including the series finale) of Marvel’s Agent Carter

SPACE FORCE First Look Photos Introduce Netflix’s Upcoming Comedy Series Starring Steve Carell & Lisa Kudrow

Image

Academy Award-nominee and Golden Globe-winner Steve Carell (IrresistibleThe Morning Show) is returning to the world of comedy this summer with Space Force, an upcoming Netflix comedy series he co-created with The Office creator and former boss Greg Daniels.

While the series may or may not have been inspired in part by the real-life United States Space Force, the similarities will presumably end there as the show will tell an original story of four-star general Mark R. Naird (Steve Carell), who, instead of getting the promotion he was hoping for, finds himself tasked with leading the newly formed sixth brand of the U.S. Armed Forces: Space Force.

While undoubtedly disappointed, he’ll take the job seriously, moving with his wife (Lisa Kudrow) and daughter (Diana Silvers) to a remote base in Colorado where he along with a colorful team of scientists and self-proclaimed “Spacemen” will follow the White House’s direct orders to get American boots back on the moon as soon as possible, regaining total space dominance in the process.

In addition to the Carell as the headliner, the series will feature an all-star supporting cast consisting of John Malkovich (Billions; The New Pope), Diana Silvers (Booksmart; Ma), Tawny Newsome (BrockmireStar Trek: Lower Decks), Ben Schwartz (Sonic the HedgehogParks and Recreation), Lisa Kudrow (Friends; The Comeback), Jimmy O. Yang (Silicon ValleyCrazy Rich Asians), Noah Emmerich (The AmericansWhite Collar), Alex Sparrow (UnReal; Sin City: A Dame to Kill For), Don Lake (Terminator 2: Judgment DayZootopia), Jessica St. Clair (Avenue 5; Playing House) and Fred Willard (Modern FamilyAnchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy).

The series will premiere, with its ten-episode first season, on Friday, May 29.

John Malkovich, Diana Silvers, Tawny Newsome, Ben Schwartz also star, alongside co-stars Lisa Kudrow, Jimmy O. Yang, Noah Emmerich, Alex Sparrow and Don Lake. Don Cheadle Reflects On Being Cast As War Machine And Reveals How Many Marvel Movies He Signed Up For

Image

Terrence Howard played Rhodey in Iron Man, but after demanding a massive pay increase for the sequel, Marvel Studios cast Don Cheadle for Iron Man 2. He then got the chance to suit up as War Machine, and after later donning Iron Patriot’s armour, he joined Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

Now, Cheadle has reflected on being offered the role and revealed that it was a decision he had to make extremely quickly as Marvel Studios scrambled to find an actor for the sequel.

“I was actually at my kid’s birthday party—a laser tag party—and I got a call from my agent, and they said, ‘Hey, so I want to connect you to these Marvel guys. They want to talk to you, but they want to offer you the part.’ I don’t think it was [Kevin] Feige. I don’t know who was on the phone. But they said, ‘Hey, this is the role. We want you to do this. It’s a six-picture deal.’ I was like, ‘What?! Oh, uh, okay…’ And I’m trying to do the math. I’m like, ‘That’s 11 or 12 years. I’m not sure.’ And they’re like, ‘Well, we need to know, because if you’re not saying yes, then we’re gonna move on to the next person. So you’ve got an hour.’

“An hour to decide 12 years, and a role and parts that I don’t even know, in movies that are coming down that I have no idea what they’ll be. I said, ‘I’m at my kid’s laser tag party right now.’ They said, ‘Oh! Oh, take two hours.’ So generous! So I go back inside, and I’m ducking behind things, playing laser tag, and talking to my wife. I’m like, ‘Should I take a flier on this? Is this something I should do?’ And she said, ‘Well, yeah, I guess so. All things being equal, this is that kind of thing. You’ve never done anything like this before. Big special effects, tent pole, four-quadrant movie. Do you want to do something like this?’ I said, ‘I kind of do.’ She said, ‘Well, then take a flier. Let’s do it. Try it.'”

That’s a very funny story, and shows that Marvel Studios clearly had a list of actors they wanted for Iron Man 2 they would have turned to had Cheadle turned them down. However, by far the biggest takeaway here is the fact that the actor signed a six-picture deal…which must have reached its end after last year’s Avengers: Endgame

After all, he appeared in Iron Man 2, Iron Man 3, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame. It’s possible that he’s signed some sort of extension, of course, but Marvel Studios may have decided that War Machine’s story came to an end the same time as Pepper Potts’ did once Tony Stark sacrificed himself.

JUSTICE LEAGUE Star Harry Lennix Wants To Shoot Snyder Cut Scene As Martian Manhunter

Image

A little while back, Justice League director Zack Snyder revealed that, in the Snyder cut of the movie, General Swanwick was to be outed as Martian Manhunter. The reveal was set to come after a meeting between Lois Lane and Martha Kent which would have seen the latter revealed as the alien in disguise (along with confirmation that Swanwick knew Superman’s secret identity).

During a recent interview the Comic Book Central podcast, actor Harry Lennix was asked about being given the opportunity to go back and shoot his unfinished scenes as Martian Manhunter, and said, “I would love to do that.” He also shared his support for the Snyder Cut of Justice League, noting that, “I hope that it will be seen. I really do.”

Lennix would go on to say that his Justice League role was actually cut before shooting started after it underwent a rewrite, but sounded confident that the Martian Manhunter scene would still be shot.

The actor also confirmed that he was never told about plans for Swanwick to be a superhero.

Despite the planned launch of HBO Max, we’ve heard nothing about plans for the Snyder Cut of Justice League to see the light of day, and with Hollywood on lockdown, it’s not like it could be finished now!

Are you disappointed that we still haven’t seen Martian Manhunter in the DCEU?

HELLRAISER Reboot Lands THE NIGHT HOUSE Director And Writing Team

Image

We found out that New Line’s Salem’s Lot reboot had landed a director in the form of Gary Dauberman (Annabelle Comes Home) last night, and now THR has revealed that another upcoming re-imagining of a horror classic has its director and writing team in place.

Spy Glass Media has hired the filmmaking team behind Sundance Film Festival sensation The Night House to tackle its new take on Clive Barker’s Hellraiser. David Bruckner (V/H/S, Southbound) will direct, while Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski will pen the screenplay. The story is being mapped out by David Goyer.

Barker’s 1987 adaptation of his own novella, The Hellbound Heart, introduced one of cinema’s most recognizable and enduring movie monsters in Pinhead, the leader of a group of demonic beings known as Cenobites. The movie went on to achieve cult status, spawning multiple inferior sequels, a short-lived TV series, comic books, and more.

Specific details on this new version are still under wraps. but Spyglass has described it as “loyal, yet evolved.”

Bruckner made his directorial debut with the 2007 sci-fi horror film, The Signal, and more recently helmed a few episodes of the Creepshow TV series.

What do you guys make of this news? Looking forward to more Pinhead? Let us know in the comments down below.

San Diego Comic-Con Likely To Be Cancelled Due To COVID-19, But Organisers Considering “Online Component”

Image

The organisers of the San Diego Comic-Con recently made it clear that they would be moving forward with the July event as planned, but even then it was clearly wishful thinking on their part. Now, it appears as if they’re seriously considering postponing or cancelling it altogether.

According to San Diego Tourism Authority CEO Joe Terzi, it’s highly unlikely that a gathering of this size will be able to take place in July given current social distancing measures, while it sounds like they’re already in the process of figuring out how to go about calling the whole thing off.

“They are evaluating any financial liability they might have with a cancellation, and once they determine that, they’ll make a decision,” Terzi said. “Based on our knowledge of the event, it will be very difficult for them to have that event in July. With other events you could do things to keep people separate, but Comic-Con is a whole different animal, it’s a massive sea of people.”

Many hotels have already agreed to a request to waive cancellation fees should Comic-Con not take place as planned, and SDCC spokesman David Glanzer confirms that they’re hoping to make an announcement soon (while exploring the possibility of it having an “online component”).

Does that mean panels would be streamed online? They would obviously have to take place remotely, but with Hollywood on lockdown, it’s doubtful studios will even have footage to debut.

As a result, it seems Comic-Con as we know it is going to be forced to sit out 2020…
