FANTASY ISLAND Exclusive Interview With Director Jeff Wadlow About Blumhouse’s Horror Remake

Image

Blumhouse’s Fantasy Island arrives in UK Cinemas on March 6th, and we recently had the opportunity to talk to the cast of Sony and Blumhouse’s new horror movie. In this big screen reimagining of the classic TV series, the enigmatic Mr. Roarke (this time played by Ant-Man star Michael Peña) makes the secret dreams of his lucky guests come true at a luxurious but remote tropical resort.

However, when the fantasies turn into nightmares, the guests are forced to solve the island’s mystery in order to escape with their lives. The man in charge of this new take on the beloved property is writer and director Jeff Wadlow (Kick-Ass 2), and we recently had the opportunity to talk to him about what it was like to bringing Fantasy Island back to the big screen for a new generation.

The filmmaker also delves into the biggest challenges he faced while making the movie, why Tattoo didn’t make it into the reboot, whether he would consider helming sequels ot a small screen spinoff, and much more. Needless to say, we want to say a huge thank you to Jeff for taking time to talk to us, and make sure you check out Blumhouse’s Fantasy Island this coming Friday.

Jeff12221

Hey Jeff, how’s it going today?

I’m doing very well. I can’t complain. I’ve got a movie coming out that I’m very excited about and proud of, so I guess you could say I’m top of the world!

Awesome. Well, I wanted to kick off by asking you what made Fantasy Island the right next project for you after working with Blumhouse on Truth or Dare?

I had a really great experience with Jason [Blum]. After Truth or Dare came out, he said to me, ‘Buddy, you can make one movie with me a year for the rest of your career if you want’ and I said, ‘That sounds good to me!’ We have a really productive, collaborative relationship. I love working for Jason, and I’m happy to take him up on his offer if he’s being serious. As far as specifically Fantasy Island, I was developing a TV show with another producer that was sort of inspired by Fantasy Island, and Jason is a little competitive and has always loved the TV show, so when he heard I was developing this other project that was ruefully drawing on some of the ideas from Fantasy Island, he called me up and said, ‘I hear you like Fantasy Island? You want to do the movie version?’ I said, ‘Hell yeah!’ and he said, ‘Okay, go!’

Fantasy Island feels like a concept where you can go to some really twisted places, so were there any ideas you wanted to include in the film that you didn’t because they were too dark, or did you get to do everything you wanted?

I very much did everything I wanted. I did it all. I like horror because it’s clever, I don’t like horror because it’s over the top, in your face, and gory and grotesque. I respect those films, but they’re not the kind of horror movies I’m drawn to, and certainly not the kind of horror movies that Jason makes. For me, it was all about twisting and subverting audience’s expectations and the guest’s hopes and dreams for their fantasies. To come up with the fantasies, I worked with Chris Roach and Jill Jacobs, my co-writers from Truth or Dare, and we ran it like a little TV writers room. We started listing fantasies and twists on fantasies and came up with about ten or twelve. We then picked our top four and started working them into the film.

Talking of the TV series, what were some of the biggest challenges when it came to paying homage to that show but also reinventing it for an audience who might have never seen it?

First of all, I think Fantasy Island is the perfect kind of thing to be adapted for the big screen right now because it’s been a while. A lot of people don’t remember it, so it’s not like we’re just drafting off something people loved. The majority of the moviegoing public don’t remember the show, but that’s just half of it. The other half is that it’s just a great idea at its core. If nobody remembered the show, and this was like that movie Yesterday where we all woke up tomorrow and no one remembered Fantasy Island except for me, I would still want to make the movie because it just has a great idea at its core. As far as adapting it and being faithful to the show while also trying to offer something new and breathe new life into it, honestly, my guiding principle was Marvel. You look at Marvel and what they do with their underlying material, and they don’t really completely faithfully adapt their Marvel characters to the screen. They identify what the iconic parts of the property and character are, and that’s what you see on screen. In Iron Man, even in the comics when I was reading them as a kid, his arms are all muscular, and he had a very different look but it was gold and red armour. So, in the movie, it had to be the same. In Fantasy Island, I knew that Mr. Rourke had to have a white suit and we had to be on an island. Somebody had to say, ‘De plane’ and Mr Rouke had to say, ‘Smiles everyone.’ While it was a case of establishing those icons and sticking to them, there was a lot of room to reinterpret and come up with entirely new ideas.

FI

Talking of Mr. Rourke, what was it about Michael Peña that made him the right choice to play that iconic character in Fantasy Island

It was really a microcosm of what I was just talking about when it comes to identifying what was important in the original show and having room to interpret and do something new. It was very important to me that we get an actor of Latino descent because the original was such an icon for the Latino community. I didn’t want to have an actor who wasn’t Latino, but at the same time, I wanted an actor who was going to do something different. Ricardo Montalbán’s take on the character was very buttoned up and proper, and what I love about what Michael has done with Mr. Rourke is that he’s given it a looseness to add to his mysteriousness. You don’t feel like you can pin him down because he doesn’t wear the tie and his shirt is untucked. He has an island time vibe, but yet he’s still walking around in a white suit. It almost begs more questions in his interpretation and that’s the kind of thing Michael does so well. He really explores characters and makes interesting choices.

Something that really got talking when the film was first announced was whether Tattoo would be included, so is that something you considered or do you think it just doesn’t work for today’s audience?

Well, like I said, there is a character who says ‘De plane,’ but we do our own version of it. It’s a whisper that has a wistfulness to it, so we are honouring Tattoo in that way. The more we talked about it, the more we realised he was just a part of Fantasy Island. He wasn’t in the last two seasons and to my recollection, he wasn’t in the 90s update either so he didn’t seem like an overly necessary part of the iconography associated with Fantasy Island. Also, sometimes there are certain portrayals with certain characters that are so unique, you’re not really sure how to approach them. What’s the new thing you’re going to say or do with that character? How are you going to honour the older version while also offering something new, and we never could quite crack it. There’s an homage that some people will catch, but you are correct, he’s not part of our film.

There was a time when we’d see a lot of horror movies crammed into a busy October, but that’s changed in recent years (with Blumhouse, in particular), but what would you say makes Fantasy Island a good date night movie for Valentine’s Day?

What makes it a great date night movie? I think it’s got something for everyone. It’s got the scares, some emotional moments which will resonate with men and women, it’s got a really good looking cast for both guys and girls. It’s funny, which people are really surprised by, and there’s just a lot of twists and turns, and like with most great relationships, our movie has a surprise ending [Laughs].

Would you be interested in spinning out a film like Fantasy Island into a TV series, or do you think it has more potential on the big screen moving forward?

It’s funny, with the exception of X-Force, I by in large don’t really think in terms of sequels or TV spinoffs. I try to leave it all on the floor so every good idea I had for Fantasy Island is in this movie and if this is the only version I ever work on, I will feel very good about that and very satisfied and proud of it. That being said, it is a whole world, and there are some incredible stories you can tell with new guests arriving with different pasts, agendas, and fantasies. Certainly, there is a lot of potential there not just for sequels, but another take on the TV show.

Finally, I know we talked about people forgetting the TV show, but for those long-time fans or followers of the series, what do you hope they take from your version?

I hope they remember the dark and mischievous side of the show. I think it got a little Love Boat in later years, and people remember it being kind of soft, but I remember it being a little bit scary. I recall the episodes with Roddy McDowall  playing the devil with great affinity and I like the episodes that have that kind of feel, and the feeling of our movie. I hope fans of the show realise we’re not reinventing it, but honouring some of the most unique ideas from the original show.

RUMOR: DC COMICS’ 5G Reboot Plans Significantly Reduced In The Wake Of Dan DiDio’s Departure

Image

Dan DiDio’s departure from DC Comics sent shock waves through the industry and the story continues to develop as fans and journalists alike attempt to discern what his absence means for 5G, aka Generation 5. Most sites agree that 5G was set to be a line-wide reboot that saw the publisher’s most popular heroes (like Batman, Superman, Aquaman, etc.) aged up and replaced by a younger, more diverse group of heroes who assume their mantles.

Now, Bleeding Cool is reporting that AT&T and Warner have given DC the mandate to reduce the original scope of 5G to, “a smaller line of books that have already had a number of issues completed.” Additionally, whereas 5G was going to attempt to chronicle and categorize all of DC’s past history, it’s now going to cover a much smaller breadth of time.

On the surface, it certainly sounds as if AT&T and Warner are backtracking on 5G, but with so much of the work already completed, they don’t have any choice but to press forward. Yet strangely enough, DC’s overseers are also said to be simultaneously intrigued by the prospect of direct-to-video feature films based on the new 5G heroes.

Of course, sales figures will be the deciding factor regarding whether 5G is ultimately expanded or quietly swept under the rug. It would certainly be interesting to see the reaction to 5G’s launch (which is rumored to be in October) resulting in DC outselling Marvel.

FANTASY ISLAND Exclusive Interview With Star Lucy Hale About Filming A Horror Movie In Paradise

Among those on this island is the mysterious Melanie, a young woman looking to get revenge on the bully who once tormented her. The character is played by Truth or Dare star Lucy Hale, an actress whose star is definitely on the rise.

Currently starring in The CW’s Katy Keene (you can find her comments on that by clicking here), Hale talks to us about reuniting with director Jeff Wadlow, Fantasy Island’s torture scenes, playing a strong female character in the horror genre, and filming this twisted tale in paradise.

We obviously want to extend a huge thank you to Lucy for taking the time to talk to us about Blumhouse’s Fantasy Island, and keep checking back here all week for much more on the movie!

Bloodshot

A lot of people will be able to relate to wanting revenge on a bully, but what was your approach to playing a character like that in Fantasy Island?

I think that with every character I play, I try to draw from personal experiences. Melanie seems to be very, very traumatised by what happened to her as a child, and she seems to really have her heart set on getting revenge and taking her power back. I definitely can relate to feeling like an outcast and that no one understands me in a way, but not to the extent that I’d need to get revenge like that [Laughs]. In her head, it only makes sense for her to do this, and it was hard for me to not judge the character because it goes against everything I would do in real life. I would never ever treat a person like that, so I had to really step into her mindset to understand why she needed to get back at this person so badly.

The torture scenes definitely start getting uncomfortable, but was there ever talk of taking them down an even darker route, and what were those scenes like for you to film even as an observer?

I mean, it was horrifying! Portia Doubleday, who plays Sloane in the movie who was my tormentor, is literally strapped to a chair, has a gag in her mouth, and is being dunked with water over and over again. A lot of it was very real and very difficult to watch and very triggering. If there were no guidelines in the movie world, I’m sure we would have pushed it even further and gone even further, but I think for a lot of people, it will be a little hard to watch. You can tell Melanie quite likes it.

You mentioned Portia, and it was clear you had a lot of chemistry in the film, so can you talk about what it was like working together when your characters are at odds?

She’s great. She’s such a great actor, and I’d been a fan of her work before I’d worked with her, but it was just really nice that we had the luxury of getting a lot of rehearsal time. I think that so often, you’re thrown into a movie with people and you just have to create chemistry when there’s not any there. With her, we just had really great banter, and she plays that type of role so well that it was just really natural to react the way that I did. We got a lot of rehearsal and hang time in, and we were all filming in Fiji for two months and spent a lot of time together.

LuyH

In the horror genre, it feels like we’ve finally moved on from female characters who are just victims, so what was it like for you to play such an interesting and layered character here?

Without giving too much away, there’s more to Melanie than meets the eye. It would have been very easy for Melanie to be just like, ‘Oh, poor me. She deserves it…I deserve to torture this person,’ but I think there’s so much more to it and, like I said, in Melanie’s head, she thinks this is the right thing to do. There was no other option. So, it was fun to play a person who at the beginning of the movie is one thing, but by the end, is very, very different. I often times don’t get to do that, so it was a fun challenge.

Were you familiar with the TV show at all before joining the movie and, either way, did you look at that to prepare or just stick to the material you had?

I was a little familiar with it. I knew it was really popular in the 1970s and that there was Mr. Rourke and people who go to an island where their fantasies come true. From what I understand, because I’ve never actually seen the series, that was a lot lighter, and more like a comedy. This is quite a bit edgier and darker, so no, I didn’t watch anything to prepare, but now that it’s all said and done, I’m really curious to go and see what it was all about.

This feels like a franchise with a lot of potential moving forward whether it’s another film or even a small screen spinoff, so without getting into spoilers, if the opportunity were to present itself, would you like to come back and continue to explore this world?

Definitely. I think the way the movie leaves off, there are so many different directions it could go in and the amount of fantasies people have in the world are endless. I could definitely see this becoming multiple movies, and of course I would do more of them!

You worked with Jeff Wadlow on Truth or Dare, but what was it like to reunite with him for Fantasy Island

It was great. Jeff has been a really big supporter of mine, as well as Blumhouse, and I heard about the makings of Fantasy Island when we were filming Truth or Dare, and I was like, ‘Oh, that sounds really, really cool’ but never in a million years would I think that Jeff would call me up and be like, ‘Do you want to be in this movie?’ But, he did, and I was very flattered. The role was written in my voice and geared towards me so that was really cool, and he’s just the best. He’s one of the hardest working people that I know, and I don’t know how he got everything done for the movie, but he did, and he’s such a pro. The movie is beautiful to watch, and he’s just great. So, big fan of his!

Finally, it must have been quite a unique experience for you to film a horror movie in this sort of setting, so can you tell us what was that like?

I think that’s what makes it so interesting. The contrast of this sunny, beautiful, green, lush island, and on the flip side, all these dark, messed up things are happening to these people. A lot of what happens Is actually in broad daylight, and I think that’s really interesting because you don’t often see that. It really is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been to and I’m glad we could take advantage of the scenery, and I think that upon watching it, a lot of people will be visiting Fiji!

BLACK WIDOW Promo Image Provides A New Look At Scarlett Johansson As Natasha Romanoff

Image

Another trading card from Topps’ Black Widow tie-in set has been revealed, and this one provides us with a new look at Scarlett Johansson as The Fallen Avenger, Natasha Romanoff.

Although this movie has been confirmed to be a prequel (Widow met her maker in Avengers: Endgame, after all), there’s a lot of speculation that at least part of the story will play out post-Endgame. Romanoff is not expected to be resurrected, but many believe that Florence Pugh’s character Yelena Belova may end up taking over the Black Widow mantle.

That remains to be seen, of course, but we do fully expect Cate Shortland’s film to serve as a fitting sendoff for the character one way or the other.

Check out the card below along with the previously released ones and let us know what you think.

Simply click on the next button below!

Natasha Romanoff

Scarlett Johansson reprises her role as Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, for what will almost certainly be the last time. The character can be seen here in her new costume, batons at the ready.

Yelena Belova

Florence Pugh will play Belova in Marvel’s first (and most likely only) solo Black Widow movie. She has previously gained acclaim for her performances in the likes of WWE wrestling biopic Fighting With My Family and Ari Aster’s Midsommar.

Taskmaster

We still know very little about Taskmaster or how he’ll factor into the plot. It’s believed that O-T Fagbenle will play him, but that has yet to be confirmed and could simply be misdirection. One outlandish theory claims that it might be Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton under the mask, but that seems more like wishful thinking to us

Black Widow

“In Marvel Studios’ action-packed spy thriller “Black Widow,” Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, confronts the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises. Pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down, Natasha must deal with her history as a spy and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger. Scarlett Johansson reprises her role as Natasha/Black Widow, Florence Pugh stars as Yelena, David Harbour portrays Alexei/The Red Guardian, and Rachel Weisz is Melina. Directed by Cate Shortland and produced by Kevin Feige, “Black Widow”—the first film in Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe—hits U.S. theaters on May 1, 2020.” –Marvel Studios.”

Black Widow also stars William Hurt, Ray Winstone and Olivier Richters. The movie hits theaters on May 1st. Check out the recent extended teaser below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to the movie in the comments.

Hawkeye’s Costume From Matt Fraction’s Run And U.S. Agent’s Black Suit Could Be Featured On Disney+

Image

In recent months, we’ve been hearing a lot of possible details about the Marvel TV shows coming to Disney+, with many of them relating to Hawkeye. Now, following reports that we’ll see the likes of Trickshot and the Tracksuit Mafia in the show, a new rumour claims that the series might also feature the “costume” Clint Barton wore during Matt Fraction’s run.

Official concept art for Hawkeye has shown him in a purple superhero suit, but this report states that we could see the t-shirt and jeans ensemble in the banner image above.

Hawkeye may not actually end up wearing this (MCU Cosmic speculates that the t-shirt could be seen hanging in the background somewhere), but between this and that Scarlet Witch costume in WandaVision, Marvel Studios is clearly having fun paying homage to the source material with these shows. Nothing is confirmed right now, of course, but this would definitely be cool to see on screen.

It’s also noted that there will likely be a nod to U.S. Agent’s original black suit in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, and we wouldn’t be at all surprised if that comes when the U.S. Government is testing out various looks for their new Captain America.

What are you thoughts on these latest Marvel on Disney+ rumours?

Hit the “Next” button to check out some shocking
mistakes from the Marvel Cinematic Universe!

A Long Way To Go For Pizza – Avengers: Endgame

Hulk-Truck

New Asgard is supposed to be in Tonsberg, Norway but, in reality, these scenes were shot in Scotland.

However, Marvel Studios did a poor job of hiding that as the truck The Hulk and Rocket use to reach the God of Thunder has a UK number plate, and the pizza boxes in his house have a British phone number on them as well. Both things are vastly different in Norway so there’s no excusing this blatant error even if it is easy to miss.

“Hey, Everyone” – Spider-Man: Homecoming

Spidr-Man-Civil-War

In the trailers for Captain America: Civil War, Spider-Man’s arrival on the battlefield was followed by him greeting his fellow heroes with, “Hey, everyone!” In the movie itself, though, that line comes a little while after he lands, and he instead babbles nervously about his new suit.

Well, in the vlog which kicks off his solo movie that Peter Parker secretly shot, the line is right there when he lands with Cap’s shield despite it playing out differently in the superhero ensemble.

When Was Bucky Born? – Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Bucky

Steve Rogers visits an exhibit in the Smithsonian Institution to reflect on his past deeds during World War II and, while there, he looks at memorial for his best friend Bucky Barnes.

You have to hope he wasn’t looking too closely, though, because while the text starts by noting that he was born in 1916, the dates at the end of that claim that he lived from 1917 – 1944 so which was it?

A Second Scott Lang – Avengers: Endgame

Giant-Man

Avengers: Endgame‘s final battle is a thrilling, fast-paced affair so it’s easy to see why something like this might slip between the cracks.

While we see Ant-Man and The Wasp in his van attempting to get the Quantum Tunnel going, a scene immediately after briefly shows the hero in his Giant-Man form helping out the rest of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes which makes no sense as he’s then back in his van moments later.

“Capital Hill” – Iron Man 2

Tony-S

Shortly after Tony Stark is forced to testify before the United States Senate Armed Services Committee to justify his role as Iron Man, the hero watches highlights from his appearance on YouTube.

On C-SPAN’s channel, the video is titled “Stark Industries CEO Tony Stark on Capital Hill” but the site – which covers political news in Washington DC – should really know better as the correct spelling is actually “Capitol Hill.”

“Doctor” Strange – Doctor Strange

Stephen

As Dr. Stephen Strange prepares for surgery, the good doctor makes a huge mistake which may look cool during this sequence but would definitely be frowned upon by real surgeons.

Firstly, he puts his mask on AFTER washing his hands (contaminating them by touching his mouth/face) and then touches his gown while putting on his gloves, a big no-no as hands should never leave the doctor’s sleeves once again due to the risk of infection.

Bad Hair Day – Avengers: Infinity War

Parker

As Peter Parker and Tony Stark head into outer space, the web-slinger explains that “You can’t be a friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man if there’s no neighbourhood.”

When he says that, his hair is slicked back with gel or wax but after Tony’s response, he suddenly has a fringe and no hair product. It reverts back to how it was after that so this was likely the result of reshoots.

Hairbutt, Not Headbutt – The Avengers

Widow

Black Widow gets a kickass introduction in The Avengers when she’s called back into action by Agent Coulson and takes down a gang of Russian thugs she’s been pursuing.

However, when she headbutts the guy behind her – who ends up being knocked out cold – she’s actually just hitting him with a flick of her hair as the camera angle shows that the stuntman was standing way too far back for the hero’s head to even graze him.

Where Did That Cash Come From?

Bruce-Betty

As Bruce Banner and Betty Ross discuss what they should do next in their hotel room, we see the former empty her purse on to the bed and cash can visibly be seen sticking out of a wallet.

However, as he goes to pick that up in a subsequent shot, it’s somehow moved out of the wallet and to a completely different area on the bed.

Spider-Man’s Shifting Timeline – Spider-Man: Homecoming

Vulture

One of the biggest blunders made in the MCU sees Adrian Toomes cleaning New York City up shortly after the Chitauri attacked in 2012. This was supposed to be eight years before the events of Spider-Man: Homecoming (releasd in 2017) which either means The Avengers happened sooner than we thought or the wall-crawler’s first solo outing in this shared world took place in 2020.

That doesn’t make sense as it would place the adventure two years after Spidey died, so this was just a total error on Marvel’s part, something the Russo Brothers have since acknowledged.

Captain America’s Self-Healing Costume – The Avengers

Avengers

Steve Rogers takes a Chitauri blast to the gut during the Battle of New York, leaving that area of his suit badly damaged as a result.

However, by the time Earth’ Mightiest Heroes confront the fallen Loki in Stark Tower, his suit has been repaired and shows no visible sign of damage…perhaps he just had time to change?

Air Force One’s Non-Bulletproof Windows – Iron Man 3

War-Machine-1

With one of Aldrich Killian’s thugs decked out in War Machine’s armour, Air Force One (the United States President’s plane) comes under attack and ends up crashing.

Before that happens, though, one of the bullets which bounces off “War Machine” ends up breaking through one of the aircraft’s windows. There’s no way that would happen in real-life as they’re bulletproof and tough enough to stop a ricocheting bullet.

Peter Quill’s Mixtape – Guardians Of The Galaxy

Awesome

Peter Quill was taken from Earth by Yondu in 1988 and it was presumably then or the previous year that his mother created a mixtape for her son.

Look closely, though, and you’ll notice that both Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 are Type II “CDing 2” TDK cassette tapes. That may be a very minor detail but it’s also a type of tape which wasn’t released until 1993 which means that Meredith and Peter having access to them five years beforehand makes no sense.

Ride Like The Wind, Cap – The Avengers

Steve-Bike

As Earth’s Mightiest Heroes go their separate ways following Loki’s defeat, Steve Rogers rides off into the sunset on his motorbike.

However, while he’s clearly driving at high speed based on the way the background behind him is moving, Chris Evans’ hair isn’t moving and the “wind” is having no sort of affect on him.

Hank Pym’s Heavy Keyring – Ant-Man

Tank

During Ant-Man, we hear TWICE that Pym Particles shrink the space between atoms and not the atoms themselves. Now, without getting too scientific, that means the objects themselves don’t change weight. Despite this, both Hank Pym and Scott Lang are able to ride on the back of ants, while the latter is shown standing on Tony Stark’s shoulder in Avengers: Endgame

There may be an explanation for that, of course, and we’re probably not meant to give it too much thought. However, Hank carrying around a tank – an object rather than a person – as a keyring makes even less sense because it should have weighed the same as it would at full-size!

The Name’s Carol Danvers – Captain Marvel

Carol

We see a lot of Carol Danvers’ military background as her origin story is explored in Captain Marvel but we don’t know where those dog tags reminding her of her past have come from.

If they were proper military issue, they wouldn’t read “Carol Danvers” and would instead say, “Danvers, Carol.” Perhaps Marvel Studios decided that would be too confusing for Vers as she finally learned her true name!

Thor Gets Lost In London – Thor: The Dark World

Thor-London

As the God of Thunder attempts to make his way through London, he’s forced to ask for directions on the tube while navigating Charing Cross Station.

She explains that he needs to ride three stops to reach Greenwich during this lighthearted exchange but Charing Cross isn’t on the Jubilee Line and definitely more than three stops away from where Thor needed to get to.

Tony Stark’s Miraculous Recovery – Iron Man

Obidiah

As Obidiah Stane’s villainous nature is finally revealed to Tony Stark, he uses a device which causes the hero to bleed from his ears.

However, by the time he reaches the elevator to make his way down to the laboratory where his old arc reactor is housed, the blood has vanished and it seems doubtful he would have had time to wipe it away.

Flag Fumble – Captain America: The First Avenger

Expo

Howard Stark’s World Expo is certainly an international affair, hence why a number of flags can be seen outside. However, one of them is most definitely out of place.

Look closely and you’ll notice that the national flag of the Bahamas is flying behind the American flag but considering the fact it wasn’t created until 1973, we’re not sure how it somehow showed up at this event in the late 1930s.

Where Did That New Car Come From? – The Avengers

Thor-2012

With New York City being torn apart by the invading Chitauri, several cars are show flipping in the air as the aliens start their invasion. One of those is a sedan which Thor takes cover behind and, as you might expect, it’s pretty beaten up.

However, in the next shot, the damage has disappeared and it seems that the beaten up vehicle from before is now completely new again possibly as a result of reshoots.

Star-Lord Doesn’t Know Where To Look – Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2

Abilisk

As the Guardians of the Galaxy battle the monstrous Abilisk, there are some humorous exchanges between Star-Lord and Rocket.

However, when Peter Quill responds to the talking racoon, he’s looking to his left despite Rocket being on his right (the scenery behind him is also mirrored). Oddly, things appear to have got switched around for no particular reason here.

A Time-Displaced Internet Cafe – Captain Marvel

Carol-D

Computer nerds will love this one. For starters, Carol Danvers is shown using Netscape Navigator 4, a programme not released until two years until after this movie took place.

Also incorrect is her use of Altavista to track down the bar that fallen Skrull led her to. While the company’s original logo is correctly used, the URL is incorrect as they didn’t own the “altavista.com” domain name yet in 1995.

An Awkward Photo – Iron Man 2

Senator

As Tony Stark poses with the Senator at the end of the sequel, there are some major continuity errors. For starters, his jacket goes from being buttoned to unbuttoned within a split second!

Tony’s hand is also behind the Senator to begin with, by his side when the camera zooms out, then back behind him when we return to the original shot.

Who Is Mrs. Stark – Captain America: Civil War

Stark

As the Avengers meet with Secretary Ross, Tony Stark can be seen wearing a wearing ring. Now, him and Pepper Potts weren’t married at this point in the MCU’s timeline so what’s going on here?

Well, common sense says that’s Downey’s actual wedding ring and he just forgot to take it off, hence why it keeps popping up from scene to scene.

Something Doesn’t Add Up – Black Panther

Killmonger

As we learn Erik Killmonger’s history from Everett Ross, it’s revealed that the villain graduated from a US Naval Academy – Annapolis – at the age of 19.

That may sound impressive but it’s also impossible; you’re not allowed to join the US Naval Academy until 17 and it then takes four years to graduate regardless of how skilled you are meaning he would have had to be 21 at best.

A Giant Mistake – Ant-Man And The Wasp

Scott

When Scott Lang is stuck inside that janitor’s closet as his suit malfunctions, his head is tilted towards his right shoulder after growing too large for the space they’re stick in.

However, as Hope Van Dyne works on repairing his suit, his head is now tilted to the left and there’s no way there would have been room for him to do that given the cramped conditions.

Bruce Is Looking Green – Thor: Ragnarok

Bruce-Banner

As Thor and Bruce Banner make their way through the streets of Sakaar, the latter ends up getting green powder thrown in his face.

However, after getting separated from the God of Thunder, the green has completely vanished from his face, hair, and clothing as if it was never even there in the first place.

Quicksilver Lives? – Avengers: Age Of Ultron

Quicksilver

Quicksilver giving his life to save Hawkeye came as a huge surprise and his death – he was gunned down by Ultron – was surprisingly violent for the MCU.

However, the wounds on Pietro’s body change from shot to shot as they’re considering less bloody during closeups. This was likely done to ensure a PG-13 rating but was Quicksilver secretly healing? We doubt it!

That’s A Long Walk, Coulson – Thor

Coulson1

As the people of Oklahoma attempt to lift Thor’s hammer, Agent Coulson can be seen pulling up at the top of the hill no more than around 100 yards away.

However, when he gets out of his car to survey what’s been happening, he’s a good half mile away and this continuity error is likely a result of making the shot line up with Iron Man 2‘s post-credits scene.

How Old Is Odin Anyway – Thor: Ragnarok

Odin

In Thor: The Dark World, it’s strongly hinted that an Asgardian King lives around 5000 years but Thor: Ragnarok contradicts that.

It comes when the God of Thunder points out that his father fought Surtur around 500,000 years ago, something which makes the All-Father considerably older than we could have ever realised.

Learn German, Lady! – Spider-Man: Far From Home

Spidey2

Sure, it’s funny when that woman screams “Nacht Monkey” when Spider-Man jumps off the train in Germany but that’s not how a German would actually say it.

Instead, “Nachtaffe” is German for “Night Monkey” but it was likely change to ensure the gag would land as that doesn’t really sound a whole lot like the English name for Peter Parker’s new persona.

Washington, D.C., Ohio – Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Fury1

In an action-packed sequence, Nick Fury is chased through Washington D.C. by HYDRA and the Winter Soldier but the black and white signs for Highway 6 shouldn’t be there.

Why not? Well, they’re unique to the great state of Ohio and that is, of course, where most of Captain America: The Winter Soldier was filmed (Cleveland, to be exact). Needless to say, they should not have been in Washington!

Sorry Wales But You Don’t Belong – Black Panther

Tchalla

As T’Challa addresses the United Nations, the flags of many countries can be seen surrounding him. Yet again, though, there’s one that simply does not belong and that’s the Welsh flag.

Sure, it’s awesome (it has a dragon on it, after all) but while Wales is part of the United Kingdom, its flag should not be here any more than Scotland, Northern Ireland, or England. It should only be the Union Jack.

Doctor Strange Vs. Ebony Maw – Avengers: Infinity War

Maw

Ebony Maw foils Doctor Strange’s attempt to use the Time Stone on him by strangling him into unconsciousness and wrapping him up in metal. That leaves the Sorcerer Supreme prone next to a police car and overturned motorbike.

Well, when Maw later lifts him off the ground to return to Thanos, the police car has been replaced with a generic SUV and that motorbike has vanished.

Radioactive Blood – Spider-Man: Far From Home

Spidey-MJ

After Mysterio has finally been defeated and his drones no longer pose a threat to the city of London, Peter Parker and MJ have an emotional reunion on Tower Bridge.

As they hug, Peter gets some of the blood from his face on the left shoulder of her jacket (that’s not very considerate…) but from other angles clearly shot at different times, that’s no longer anywhere to be seen.

CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER Villain Reportedly Returning In THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER

Image

Some blurry set photos from The Falcon and The Winter Soldier have got fans talking over the past 24 hours, especially as some fans are convinced that Tom Hiddleston has been spotted as Loki opposite Sebastian Stan’s Bucky. As you can see in the image below, it’s hard to tell either way, but we do have something a little more definitive about the Disney+ TV series to share with you.

According to The Weekly Planet Podcast (who broke the news about Matt Damon making a cameo appearance in Thor: Ragnarok), Georges St-Pierre is going to return as the villainous Batroc the Leaper in the show.

He made a brief but memorable appearance in the opening few minutes of Captain America: The Winter Soldier when he went head to head with Steve Rogers. It makes sense for him to make an appearance in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, even if it’s just to be taken down by the new Captain America!

Rumours are swirling on social media that some very revealing set photos from Loki are on the way, but keep checking back for updates on this particular series as we have them.

Do you think that’s the God of Mischief in the photo below?

LOKI AND BUCKY TOGETHER???

MAYBE WE’RE ALL CLOWNS BUT WHAT ????? IF ???????

**you can’t tell me that hairline doesn’t look like Tom’s and the other actually resembles Sebastian?? and in the vid where they fight, it looks like Bucky’s fighting style IM LITERALLY FREAKING OUT pic.twitter.com/Qb5Pk6ztGk

JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK: APOKOLIPS WAR – Check Out The First Trailer For DC’s Latest Animated Feature

Image

The title was first announced last year at San Diego Comic-Con, and now Warner Bros. Home Entertainment (via IGN) has debuted the first trailer for the next DC Comics Animated Feature to follow Superman: Red Son, Justice League Dark: Apokolips War.

The movie will focus on a whole host of DC heroes from both the Justice League and JLD as they face-off against Darkseid and his minions. The trailer mostly spotlights the likes of Superman and Batman, with only brief glimpses of John Constantine, Swamp Thing and some of the other Justice League Dark members. One would assume the magic-wielding heroes will be the main focus of the actual movie, but we’ll have to wait and see.

Check out the trailer along with a more detailed synopsis and full cast list below, and let us know what you think.

The world’s greatest Super Heroes square off once-and-for-all against the despotic Darkseid – with the fate of all humanity hanging in the balance – in Justice League Dark: Apokolips War, the next entry in the popular series of DC Universe Movies. Produced by Warner Bros. Animation, DC and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, Justice League Dark: Apokolips War arrives later this spring, and features the largest Super Hero cast in the history of DC Universe Movies with dozens of actors/characters spotlighted in a grand ensemble of talent reprising their roles from this six-year story continuum.

Matt Ryan (DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Constantine), Jerry O’Connell (The Death of Superman, Satanic Panic, Stand by Me) and Taissa Farmiga (The Nun, The Mule, American Horror Story) anchor the cast as Constantine, Superman and Raven, respectively – the triumvirate determined to assemble the forces necessary to lead humanity’s final attack.

Alongside that trio are the long-running core of Justice League voices — Jason O’Mara (The Man in the High Castle, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) as Batman, Rosario Dawson (Briarpatch, Josie and the Pussycats, Sin City) as Wonder Woman, Shemar Moore (S.W.A.T., Criminal Minds) as Cyborg and Christopher Gorham (Covert Affairs, Insatiable, Ugly Betty) as The Flash – as well as JL-adjacents Rebecca Romijn (X-Men, The Librarians) and Rainn Wilson (The Office, The Meg) as the voices of Lois Lane and Lex Luthor, respectively.

Tony Todd (Candyman, The Flash) will voice the film’s key villain, Darkseid.
