Imagine spending three decades avoiding the world, finally stepping outside to enjoy your favorite fandom, and discovering your neighbor looks exactly like your fictional crush.
Fam, imagine spending 30 years inside your house, finally stepping outside, and discovering your new neighbor looks exactly like the anime character you’ve been obsessing over. Now imagine you’re a vampire, and that same dude has blood that practically rings the dinner bell for every fang in the neighborhood. Welcome to Otaku Vampire’s Love Bite, the supernatural romantic comedy from Kamisama Kiss creator Julietta Suzuki that VIZ Media is officially bringing to television as an anime.
VIZ announced the adaptation on November 3, unveiling the first teaser trailer and key art to get the fandom talking. Suzuki’s manga originally launched in Hakusensha’s Hana to Yume magazine in November 2022 before making its English-language debut through VIZ in October 2024. Now Hina’s particular brand of vampire foolishness is headed for the screen, and this girl has priorities Dracula probably never prepared for.
Hina has spent three decades living as a shut-in before moving to Japan to embrace her otaku life. We’re talking a vampire whose devotion to her favorite fictional character outweighs her appetite for blood, which is already a hilarious way to complicate immortality. Then she meets her neighbor, Kyuta Amanatsu, a handsome, slightly sharp-tongued guy who looks just like her beloved character. Thirty years indoors, and suddenly the neighborhood comes with a walking temptation.
Unfortunately for Kyuta, looking like somebody’s fictional crush is only part of his problem. His blood is especially irresistible to vampires, which means Hina soon has company taking an interest in the guy next door. Other vampires start showing up with their sights set on him, while Hina has to figure out what she actually feels for the real person standing in front of her. Girl, are you falling in love with this man, or mentally rearranging your merchandise shelf to make room for him?
The newly revealed key art leans right into Hina’s obsession, showing her reclining in a coffin surrounded by merchandise dedicated to her favorite character. There’s also a blood bag nearby, because drinking directly from humans apparently fails her personal hygiene standards. She might be undead, fam, but she’s still judging your cleanliness. That little detail gives you a pretty good idea of the comedy Suzuki is playing with here.
The teaser PV uses artwork from Suzuki’s original manga to introduce Hina’s fandom fixation and her unlikely connection with Kyuta. VIZ says production staff, cast, and premiere details will be announced in the coming months, so we’re still waiting on who’s bringing these characters to life and when the anime arrives. For now, mi gente, Hina’s got a new address, a dangerously tempting neighbor, and plenty of reasons to finally leave that coffin.
