Following this morning’s leak, Crystal Dynamics has confirmed that Spider-Man is indeed coming to the world of Marvel’s Avengers as a free post-launch Playstation-exclusve character, set to debut in early 2021.
In a lengthy blog post, Crystal Dynamics Associate Art Director Jeff Adams revealed that their Spider-Man will be an original take on the classic webslinger – and NOT the same Spidey from the Insomniac game – made specifically for Marvel’s Avengers and will have his own impressive combination of web configurations and gadgets to enhance your experience, all of which will be upgradable to specialize how Spidey plays in your specific campaign.
As for his suit, which is currently being kept under wraps, it looks like it’ll be drawing inspiration from both the classic designs from Steve Ditko and John Romita Sr., along with nods to other talented artists that have had a hand in crafting Spidey’s iconic look over the years.
Spider-Man will launch with in-game event that will introduce him to the wider world of Marvel’s Avengers. The event is comprised of a series of unique challenges for the hero to take on, testing his abilities, and yielding some exciting results. He’ll also get a variety of different costumes and gameplay experience options, so you can make your vision of the wall crawler a reality.
As a Playstation-exclusive, he’ll be available on both the PS4 and PS5 versions of the game at no additional cost.
Marvel’s Avengers is a third-person action-adventure game where you play an all-new, original Avengers story reassembling Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.
This video dives deeply into how you customize Super Heroes’ Gear, Skills, Outfits, and how to launch missions from your helicarrier base of operations to take on AIM.
Marvel’s Avengers is set to release on September 4

Like pretty much every other major TV and film project currently in development, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic stalled production on Netflix’s planned adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman, but it looks like things are finally starting to move forward.
According to The Illuminerdi, Netflix and Warner Bros. TV have enlisted Toby Hayes to direct an undisclosed number of episodes. Hayes is best known for helming multiple episodes of the Matt Smith incarnation of Doctor Who, as well as the Emmy Award-winning “USS Callister” instalment of Black Mirror.
The 10-episode first season of The Sandman is expected to adapt the first arc of the Vertigo comics series, “Preludes and Nocturnes,” which finds Morpheus captured by a black magician and held prisoner for the better part of a century. When he finally escapes, he sets about recovering three very important items, encountering Lucifer, John Constantine, Doctor Destiny, Martian Manhunter and more on his travels.
Gaiman is developing the show along with David S. Goyer and Allan Heinberg.
The search is currently underway to find a lead actor to play Morpheus on the show. James McAvoy recently voiced the character to great acclaim in Audible’s adaptation, and is now a fan-favorite pick to bring life to Dream in live-action (though that’s highly unlikely to happen).

A few weeks ago, we brought you Marvel Studios concept artist Charlie Wen’s unofficial take on Shang-Chi, and he’s now revealed an undeniably awesome version of Doctor Doom. As you can see, the Latverian villain is in possession of the Infinity Stones (and the Gauntlet), a position you have to believe Victor Von Doom would love to be in.
“Didn’t spend time redesigning him for the big screen,” Wen explains in the Instagram post below. “[Just] wanted to throw out a fun ‘what if.'”
A new version of Doom is bound to arrive in the Marvel Cinematic Universe at some point, and we can only hope he looks as great as this when it does happen. As for the Infinity Stones, it’s unlikely he’ll ever get his hands on them because Captain America returned the gems to their rightful place in time at the end of Avengers: Endgame.
What do you think about this take on the Fantastic Four villain?

Marvel Studios concept artist Andy Park has shared his design for Kate Bishop, who will make her live-action debut in the upcoming Disney+ Hawkeye series.
As Park points out in his Tweet, we have actually seen a lower quality version of this illustration in last year’s Expanding the Universe featurette, but this is our first official look at the full image.
Bishop’s costume is practically identical to the outfit her comic book counterpart wore when she took up the mantle of Hawkeye in Allan Heinberg’s Young Avengers, with only a few minor alterations. There’s a chance her look will have gone through some bigger changes by the time we see her on the show, of course.
I hear some people are having MCU withdrawals. I feel ya. Waiting is tough I know! Here’s a little something- a concept design illustration I did for the upcoming Hawkeye @disneyplus show. We recently reported on a rumor that Bumblebee actress Hailee Steinfeld had finalized her deal to star as Kate in Hawkeye, but we still haven’t had confirmation from Marvel or the trades.
What do you make of Park’s design for Kate Bishop? Drop us a comment in the usual place, and keep an eye out for Hawkeye updates as we have ’em.
