Michael Keaton Reportedly In Talks To Return As Bruce Wayne/Batman In THE FLASH Movie!

Image

Original big-screen Batman star Michael Keaton is said to be in talks to return as Bruce Wayne for Warner Bros.’ The Flash movie.

The Wrap reports that while it’s very early in the negotiations phase, the Academy Award-nominated actor is in line to reprise the iconic role for Andrés Muschietti’s DC Comics adventure, which will see Ezra Miller return as The Scarlet Speedster.

This news comes on the heels of a rumor that The Walking Dead‘s Jeffrey Dean Morgan is also in talks to play a his Batman V Superman incarnation of Thomas Wayne in the movie, but there’s no mention of that here. Whether that turns out to be accurate or not, it now seems clear that this solo Flash project has been envisioned as a loose adaptation of the Flashpoint storyline.

Keaton is still regarded by many as the best big-screen Batman yet, so this news is sure to be met with excitement from fans of Tim Burton’s original movies. It doesn’t sound like The Flash will be a one off appearance, either, as Collider’s Jeff Sneider has weighed in with thew following over Twitter.

CONFIRMED: Michael Keaton is in talks to play Bruce Wayne in THE FLASH and potentially beyond, including movies like BATGIRL. The character may be positioned like a coach/mentor, similar to the way Nick Fury is used in the MCU.

— Jeff Sneider (@TheInSneider) June 22, 2020

THR‘s report backs this up, so it looks like Keaton is indeed being lined up to potentially replace Ben Affleck as the main DCEU’s version of Batman moving forward!

THE KING’S MAN: Check Out A New Trailer & Poster For Matthew Vaughn’s THE SECRET SERVICE Prequel

Image

Manners. Maketh. Man.”

The first full trailer for Matthew Vaughn’s The King’s Man, which was originally known as Kingsman: The Great Game, is now online, and it provides an action-packed new look at the upcoming pequel.

The movie boasts and all-star cast led by Ralph Fiennes as T. E. Lawrence, who takes in a young prospect named Conrad (Harris Dickinson) in order to train him as an elite Kingsman Agent. Set during and after World War I, the movie will also explore the origins of the mysterious British intelligence agency.

The trailer doesn’t really give us a whole lot to go on as far as the plot is concerned (we do know that the story revolves around “a collection of history’s worst tyrants and criminal masterminds gathering to plot a war to wipe out millions, and one man’s race against time to stop them”), but there are some exciting shots of Lawrence and his team going up against Rasputin (an almost unrecognizable Rhys Ifans) and his band of rogues.

Check out the teaser below along with a new poster and let us know what you think.

Marvel Studios May Be Laying The Groundwork For DOCTOR DOOM By Introducing Lucia Von Bardas

Image

Fox’s Fantastic Four movies failed to capitalise on Doctor Doom’s Latverian heritage, and instead mostly portrayed him as an American businessman or scientist who just so happened to hail from the fictional country. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the hope is that Victor Von Doom will be the dictator we all know and hate from the comic books, but when will we first get to visit Laveria?

That remains to be seen, but just like The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is set to take us to Madripoor (a fictional island Wolverine once called home), it’s now said that an upcoming Marvel Studios project will introduce us to Lucia Von Bardas.

She’s not exactly an A-List comic book villain, but she has served as Doom’s successor after he was overthrown as Latveria’s leader. Lucia even took the “Doctor Doom” mantle for herself for a time, and Marvel Studios could easily introduce her as a diplomat or something similar in an upcoming movie or TV show to reveal that Latveria does indeed exist in the MCU.

That would be somewhat similar to the way Wakanda was introduced through Ulysses Klaue in Avengers: Age of Ultron, and could even happen in a series like The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.

Time will tell on that front as this is just a rumour for now, but it’s definitely a very interesting one…

Click on the “Next” button below to find out what
we want to see from the Fantastic Four in the MCU!

10. Classic Comic Book Costumes

FF

Ahead of Fantastic Four‘s release in 2015, it was made clear that the team wouldn’t don their classic comic book costumes. Say what you will about those first two efforts from Fox, but at least they did make use of the outfits, and we’re now hopeful Marvel Studios will end up doing the same.

In Josh Trank’s movie, it made sense for the team not to have traditional “superhero” costumes, but it would be incredibly disappointing for Marvel Studios to head down a grounded route.

We don’t want their astronaut costumes to be modified with a “4” logo or t-shirts with a graffitied logo on them; instead, they should be every bit as comic accurate as what you see above.

9. Sue Storm, The Team’s Most Powerful Member

Sue

Jessica Alba’s take on the Invisible Woman in those first two Fantastic Four movies failed to do the character justice, while Kate Mara was given a similarly disappointing chance to portray the hero.

As a result, learning that she’s the most powerful member of the Fantastic Four might come as something of a shock to some fans. After all, the only thing we really saw her do in those was turn invisible, and while that is obviously a major part of her power set, Sue’s ability to create force fields and to use them as weapons is something we definitely need to see more of.

There still aren’t anywhere near enough strong female characters in superhero movies, and as the Invisible Woman fits that role perfectly in the comic books, the same should be the case in the MCU.

8. A True Family Dynamic

FF-Team

What makes the Fantastic Four that little bit more unique than the Avengers or X-Men is the fact they’re a family. Reed and Sue are married, Johnny is Sue’s brother, and Ben Grimm is Reed’s best friend (and pretty much a brother both to him and the rest of his teammates).

None of the movies up until this point have fully delved into this, instead choosing to focus on a frustrating will they/won’t they dynamic with Mr Fantastic and The Invisible Woman, and an admittedly entertaining antagonistic relationship between the Human Torch and The Thing.

This time around, we’d like to see Marvel Studios explore this family dynamic in a deeper, more satisfying way, exploring what makes them click, and how that affects their adventures together.

7. Galactus

Galactus

Galactus is one of the most iconic and frightening villains in the entire Marvel Universe, and while it’s possible that we’ll get yet another take on Doctor Doom in this reboot, the groundwork could still be laid for an appearance from him down the line (similar to how Thanos was handled).

The character was portrayed as, well, a cloud in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, but Marvel Studios should embrace this larger than life bad guy and make him a threat to the entire MCU.

Galactus consumes planets, and when he first arrived on Earth, he was stopped by the four superheroes. Joined by the Silver Surfer, there’s plenty of material which can serve as inspiration for this reboot, all of which would obviously be much better than what we got way back in 2007.

6. The Negative Zone

Annihiulus

The N-Zone is an alien dimension, full of unique locations and characters (like Annihilus), who have sadly never been seen on the big screen before thanks to the focus being put on Doctor Doom.

In the Ultimate line of comics, it’s Reed’s desire to discover this mysterious alternate universe which leads to the Fantastic Four gaining their powers, and that’s a route the 2015 reboot (sort of) went down. However, regardless of whether that’s the case in the MCU, the introduction of the Quantum Realm and Multiverse perfectly sets the stage for the team to explore this realm.

Of course, the aforementioned reboot from Josh Trank did take us to the Negative Zone, but it was a murky, boring CGI backdrop. Marvel Studios, on the other hand, can have a lot of fun with it.

5. Some Sort Of X-Men Tie-In

X-Men23

Fox never gave us a Fantastic Four/X-Men crossover (though they did briefly consider one), but that’s definitely something we need to see in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Honestly, this should be a bigger priority than an Avengers crossover because the team-ups between the heroes have always been fun, and Franklin Richards being a mutant has caused many issues.

We don’t know what’s coming first in the MCU: an X-Men and Fantastic Four reboot. However, there’s no reason to suspect that both franchises can’t begin crossing over from the very beginning.

There are multiple heroes we’d like to see meet the Fantastic Four (Spider-Man, for example), but it’s hard not to feel desperate to see the worlds of Marvel’s First Family and the X-Men collide, especially after so many years of missed opportunities in Fox’s own “Marvel Universe.”

4. H.E.R.B.I.E.

HERBIE

H.E.R.B.I.E. (Humanoid Experimental Robot, B-type, Integrated Electronics) is a robotic ally to the Fantastic Four who sometimes guards the Baxter Building, assists Mr Fantastic, or babysits Reed and Sue’s son, Franklin. Is an appearance from H.E.R.B.I.E. essential?

Truthfully, no. But in a reboot set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this is a character who could provide some much-needed comic relief (which isn’t quite as slapstick as the team’s first two appearances).

Comic book fans would definitely welcome this, and H.E.R.B.I.E. could definitely work in this shared world. In many ways, J.A.R.V.I.S. laid the groundwork for an appearance like this, and Marvel Studios should definitely embrace the eccentric side of this team’s wacky dynamic.

3. Getting The Thing Right

Thing34

Special effects have advanced a great deal since the first two Fantastic Four movies, and were good enough by 2015 to mean we finally got to see a CGI version of The Thing. He looked…fine.

There was nothing wrong with the visual effects (they were actually pretty impressive), but a grounded approach to Ben Grimm’s appearance robbed him of much of his personality. Marvel Studios has perfected CGI characters – just look at The Hulk and Thanos – but that’s not what we’re concerned about; we just want a completely comic accurate take on The Thing in this reboot!

There’s no reason at all that can’t be the case, and so we have to trust they get it right.

2. Please, No More Love Triangles

Reed-Sue

A Fantastic Four reboot will inevitably have a love story element to it, but that should be contained to Reed Richards and Sue Storm, one of Marvel’s most well-known couples and a staple of the Marvel Universe. There’s definitely no need to make Ben Grimm jealous of their relationship, and there’s especially no need to have Victor Von Doom into things.

Can The Thing find love with Alicia Masters? Absolutely, but love triangles are a tedious bore, and with every comic book fan out there well-aware that Mister Fantastic and the Invisible Woman are meant to be, why waste time delaying the inevitable in this upcoming reboot?

There are many far more interesting things that this reboot could and should be focusing on, so let’s see them portrayed as a happy couple instead, potentially from the very start. Marvel Studios can certainly add plenty of drama to a movie like this but, please, no love triangles!

1. The Real Doctor Doom

Doom

Just like in the 2005 movie, 2015’s Fantastic Four reboot gave Doctor Doom his powers at the same time as those heroes, but that’s not something we need to see on the big screen a third time.

This Victor Von Doom’s powers should be rooted in magic, and it’s a must that his Latverian roots are properly explored this time, not to mention the fact that he rules over that nation with an iron fist. What’s perhaps most important are his motivations and personality. It shouldn’t be as a jealous love interest or an egomaniacal businessman this time around.

Instead, he needs to be terrifying, ruthless and insane. Doom is one of Marvel’s greatest villains, and this Fantastic Four reboot should portray him as such (finally giving us the version we want).

MAN OF STEEL Star Michael Shannon Shares Thoughts On Planned ZACK SNYDER’S JUSTICE LEAGUE Release

Image

After playing General Zod in Man of Steel, Michael Shannon has never had a bad word to say about director Zack Snyder and has been an avid supporter of the Justice League “Snyder Cut” when asked about it. During a recent interview with James Van Osdol on the Car Con Carne Podcast, the outspoken actor was asked for his thoughts on Zack Sndyer’s Justice League coming to HBO Max.

“I feel for my friend Zack Snyder, he had a rough time of it,” Shannon started. “Between the struggles with his family and what he went through with Warner Bros., Zack is a sweet, kind, gentle, hard-working, super conscientious human being and I hope that this release gives him some sense of satisfaction or vindication or whatever because he’s such a good person.”

“[He] deserves better than he’s been dealing with,” the actor concluded (shots fired at Warner Bros. eh?).

Shannon also reflected on his time playing General Zod in the DC Extended Universe, and remains grateful for the experience to play Superman’s greatest foe on the silver screen. “I still, to this day, can’t even believe that he called me to do that. That did not seem like something that was within my reach. But yeah, he got me – he got me in there, so, thank God.”

Shannon could definitely be classified as a “serious actor,” so his praise of Snyder is definitely meaningful, and it’s great to see how supportive he is of him almost a decade after they worked together.

Are you guys psyched for Zack Snyder’s Justice League?

THE FLASH: Jeffrey Dean Morgan Rumored To Be In Talks To Return As Thomas Wayne In “Flashpoint” Adaptation

Image

The DC Extended Universe’s continuity is something of a mess, so a movie like The Flash adapting Flashpoint would help make sense of things (like why there’s suddenly a new Batman, for example). It’s been rumoured from fairly early on that the Scarlet Speedster’s solo outing will feature that storyline, but after so many writers and directors have taken a crack at it, it’s hard to say.

Now, though, a new rumour has surfaced which claims that The Walking Dead star Jeffrey Dean Morgan is in talks to reprise his Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice role as Thomas Wayne.

Something tells us he’ll suit up as the Flashpoint Batman if this does indeed happen, and fans will 100% be on board with that. Zack Snyder’s Justice League is believed to feature time-travel after the Fastest Man Alive travels back to rectify some mistakes made during the final battle against Steppenwolf. However, it will obviously be The Flash which fully explores that concept.

This is obviously just a rumour for now, so should be taken with a pinch of salt. It does make sense if we’re getting a Flashpoint adaptation of some sort, though, and could go some way in rebooting this shared world and helping set the stage for a new era of storytelling from the DCEU.

What do you guys think?

JURASSIC WORLD: DOMINION Script Made For An “Exhilarating” Read According To Bryce Dallas Howard

Image

After parting ways with Lucasfilm over Star Wars Episode IX due to “creative differences,” filmmaker Colin Trevorrow has returned to the Jurassic World franchise for the third instalment, Dominion

Very little is known about the movie beyond the fact it takes place in a world which has likely become overrun by dinosaurs (if nothing else, their presence is bound to have become the “norm”). Trevorrow penned the screenplay alongside Emily Carmichael, and during a recent interview with Collider, star Bryce Dallas Howard had nothing but good things to say about the threequel.

“The script was awesome,” she started, “it was so exhilarating reading it – my husband got to read it too, Colin [Trevorrow] was like, ‘Yeah, you and Seth can read it,’ and we were like, just the whole time, kinda flipping out. Which is like, that was exhilarating because we are all so excited to come back together.”

Needless to say, Howard didn’t share any plot details, but it definitely sounds like we’re in for a fun ride with Jurassic World: Dominion. Director J. A. Bayona did a great job with Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, so it’s obviously going to be interesting seeing how Trevorrow tackles this follow-up, especially after helming the record-breaking first instalment.

Ultimately, it’s fair to say the pressure is on for him to deliver a satisfying, potential finale to this trilogy, though with word of a Jurassic World TV series doing the rounds, it may not be over yet.

Are you guys excited to see where things go for Jurassic World with Dominion in 2021?

THE FLASH Producer Seemingly Confirms That Ray Fisher’s Cyborg Will Indeed Appear In The Movie

Image

At this point, The Flash (or Flashpoint as it’s occasionally known) has been through its fair share of writers and directors, and that’s led to a lot of conflicting reports about what we’ll see in the movie. One constant, however, has been Ray Fisher’s Cyborg, a fellow member of the Justice League it’s thought will have a co-starring role in this standalone adventure for the Scarlet Speedster.

IT helmer Andy Muschietti is currently hard at work on The Flash – which we’re assuming will still star Ezra Miller after that video surfaced of him allegedly choking a fan – and his wife and producing partner has now seemingly dropped quite the bombshell during an exchange on Instagram.

As you can see below, she responds to a fan by saying “obviously” when asked if Cyborg will appear.

That seemingly confirms recent reports that Fisher is still expected to appear in some way, while potentially also indicating that we are going to get some sort of loose adaptation of Flashpoint (a story which saw Cyborg play a key role after the Fastest Man Alive broke the DC Universe’s timeline).

We’ll have to wait and see, but this is definitely food for thought!

THE MANDALORIAN Director Deborah Chow Has Reportedly Been In Talks With Marvel About Future Project

Image

A lot of great filmmakers worked on the first season of The Mandalorian, but it was arguably Deborah Chow who really put herself on the map by working on the Disney+ series. She’s already been enlisted by Lucasfilm to helm the entire Obi-Wan Kenobi series, but could a story set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe also be in her future?

If a new rumour doing the rounds is to be believed, the yes!

Chow has reportedly been talking to Marvel Studios about a number of potential projects, but as is often the case with claims like these, there’s no word on what they may or may not be.

It’s no secret that Kevin Feige is looking to increase the diversity behind the camera for stories set in the MCU, so Chow could very easily take the helm of any number of movies or TV shows for Marvel Studios. As of right now, the majority of the Phase 4 slate is set in stone, so if Chow is destined to become part of this shared world, then it probably won’t be until Phase 5 or beyond.

For now, the director is going to be busy working on Obi-Wan Kenobi as production on that is still expected to kick off next year (despite some creative changes made to the show’s scripts).

Which Marvel movie or TV show do you guys think Chow would be a good fit for?

SPIDER-MAN Writer Reveals The One Change AVATAR Director James Cameron Made To The Movie

Image

Spider-Man may frequently swing to straight to the top of the box office these days, but the wall-crawler’s journey to the big screen wasn’t an easy one. Once upon a time, Avatar director James Cameron worked on a treatment, and while that didn’t come to pass (which may not be the worst thing in the world given what we know about it), he did make a key change to 2002’s Spider-Man.

During a recent interview with IGN to promote his new movie You Should Have Left, screenwriter David Koepp explained how Cameron’s vision ended up influencing what Sam Raimi delivered.

“I never saw any previous versions from development because it had just come out of litigation as I recall,” Koepp explained. “And so if there were other versions, they were like Cannon in the ’80s or early ’90s, but (Cameron’s) treatment was very influential.”

“I had a lot of my own specific thoughts about what the movie ought to be, because I had been a Spider-Man fan as a kid and young adult. But his treatment, it just took it seriously. It took Peter seriously as a character and it took a superhero movie seriously as a genre. And you hadn’t seen that before.”

“He had some very good ideas in it,” Koepp continued. “I like the organic web-shooters, which some people liked and some people didn’t, but that was his idea and I was happy to use it.”

Those organic “web-shooters” would eventually find their way into the comic books, but have since been replaced with the classic, far more popular mechanical versions both in those and on screen. Still, it made sense at the time, and is something Koepp was clearly happy to borrow for Spider-Man.

Click on the “Next” button below to check out
our predictions for Spider-Man’s MCU future!

10. Hunted By Kraven

Kraven

Quentin Beck framed Spider-Man for his murder, so Peter Parker is bound to be a wanted criminal now. Something tells us his fellow Avengers will know better than to try and take their fellow hero down, but Kraven the Hunter targeting the web-slinger definitely makes sense for Spider-Man 3

He could be reinvented as a mercenary or government agent, but Kraven wanting to make a name for himself by tracking down his deadliest foe to date would be the perfect premise for this next chapter.

We’re guessing that Mysterio is pulling the strings from behind the scenes as there’s no way he’s really dead, but that’s a reveal which is surely going to be saved for a post-credits scene (we’ll get to that a little later, but he could be about to take on a sinister new role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe).

9. Spider-Man: Wanted

Wanted

We alluded to this above, but the way Spider-Man is now perceived in the Marvel Cinematic Universe won’t be as a hero, but the “menace” from the comic books. Despite constantly putting his neck on the line to protect New York City, the public fear him, the police chase him down, and the press – courtesy of J. Jonah Jameson and The Daily Bugle – brand him as a criminal.

That’s been Spidey’s status quo since pretty much the start, and it’s fitting that the uncertainty surrounding whether he really killed Mysterio and attacked London will make that the case here too.

However, with his identity revealed to the world, it’s hard to predict what this will mean for Peter’s relationships with characters like Aunt May, Ned, and MJ, not to mention his high school future.

8. Spider-Man Teams Up With The Human Torch…

TOrch

One of the most endearing and memorable friendships in comic books is Spider-Man’s love/hate relationship with the Human Torch. They’re constantly pranking each other, and squabble like brothers, but when the you-know-what hits the fan, their team-up always end with them saving the day.

Marvel Studios would be wise to take advantage of this on the big screen, and with it looking unlikely that Spidey will get to fight crime alongside Daredevil any time soon, this would be the next best thing.

Spider-Man has always had an interesting relationship with the Fantastic Four, and it was in the first issue of Amazing Spider-Man that he attempted to join their ranks. A meeting with the Human Torch would set the stage for something similar, and a possible new role for Spidey in the MCU.

7. …And (Briefly) Joins The Fantastic Four

FF1

We’ve had three Fantastic Four movie (and one which was never even released in theaters due to it being such a disaster), and they’ve all been terrible. We have complete faith in Marvel Studios successfully rebooting the franchise, but how can they convince moviegoers to give them another chance?

Well, an A-List cameo from the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe would certainly help matters, and that’s where Spider-Man comes in. If he teams up with them – or even becomes a temporary member of the group – then interest will spike, and we’d love to see those Future Foundation costumes on screen.

Looking even further down the line, how cool would it be to see the New Fantastic Four assemble? That line-up consisted of Spider-Man, Wolverine, The Hulk, and Ghost Rider.

6. Entering The Multiverse

Strange1

That Fantastic Four reboot is a long way off, so which Marvel Studios movie could Spider-Man swing into? Well, we’re pretty confident that it will be Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

Sam Raimi is no doubt chomping at the bit to take another crack at the web-slinger, and seeing as Kevin Feige is a fan of JMS’ iconic Amazing Spider-Man run, we’re guessing he knows how entertaining team-ups featuring Spidey and the Sorcerer Supreme have the potential to be.

If Tom Holland’s Peter Parker gets the opportunity to travel through the Multiverse, how much do you want to bet he briefly stops by the Spider-Verse and even gets to been Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man?

5. Spider-Man Dons The Symbiote

Black-Suit

This isn’t necessarily something we’ll see in the MCU, but when Disney and Sony Pictures reached that new deal, it was confirmed that Spider-Man is going to swing between two worlds.

An appearance in movies like Morbius and Venom: Let There Be Carnage is unlikely, but beyond that, we would be shocked if Spidey doesn’t finally cross paths with Eddie Brock…and get a new suit in the process. It’s a team-up/battle fans want, and not one that would necessarily have a negative impact on what he gets up to in the MCU.

However, we certainly wouldn’t say no to seeing the hero bring that black costume with him when he does return after spending some time in the SUMC as “Venomized” versions of characters like Captain America, Wolverine, and Captain Marvel would make for a memorable sight.

4. The New Avengers

Avengers

Recently, a rumour started doing the rounds which claimed that Captain Marvel 2 will set the stage for the debut of the New Avengers (who will presumably assemble to tackle a Secret Invasion).

Plans are said to be in place for Spider-Man to be part of the team, and it’s about time he get to serve as a full-fledged member of The Avengers. After all, he helped save the planet in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, and his dynamic with Carol Danvers in the comic books is something which is undeniably worthy of being brought to the big screen as well.

We’re not sure how Peter’s newfound criminal status will affect his membership, but assuming he gets some help in Spider-Man 3 (from Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk, we’re betting), his name could be cleared.

3. A Battle With The Sinister Six

SS

The Vulture, Scorpion, Mysterio, Shocker…Spider-Man has come face to face with quite a few villains in the MCU, and while there have been no overt teases, it’s hard to escape the feeling that the Sinister Six are somewhere on the wall-crawler’s horizon. Quentin Beck could lead this iteration, though we would like to also see the Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus!

Regardless of the roster, the biggest question we have is whether this battle would be produced by Marvel Studios…or Sony Pictures. The former would be preferable, of course, but who knows!

Sony has wanted a Sinister Six movie for a while now, so it could boil down to whether they would be happy for this villainous team-up take place in a standalone spinoff or one of Spidey’s MCU adventures.

2. Maximum Carnage

Carnage

We mentioned a meeting between Spider-Man and Venom, and while it’s easy enough to imagine some of the ways that could pan out, we’d be shocked if it doesn’t lead to “Maximum Carnage.”

That sounds like a good title for an eventual event movie from Sony which incorporates characters like Spider-Man, Venom, Carnage, and Morbius, and we’re sure that more big names could be added to that line-up over the coming years as the SUMC continues to expand (Black Cat, perhaps?).

Sure, we wish Marvel Studios were in charge of this one, but as Spider-Man has the ability to leap between these two cinematic universes, this would be a spectacular way for Sony to take advantage of that.

1. The Bombastic Bagman

Bagman

We’ve talked a lot about the Fantastic Four in this feature, but regardless of whether the Human Torch flies into a future Spider-Man movie or the web-slinger swings by the Baxter Building in their reboot, we have to see the Bombastic Bagman on the big screen at some point, right?

It would be an amazing (no pun intended) moment for comic book fans, and something we can definitely imagine Tom Holland being able to pull off. If the hero does try to join the team and gets turned down, him getting a Fantastic Four costume like this would be fun, tongue in cheek way to wrap up his desire to be part of the group…while also kicking off a rivalry with Johnny Storm!

Kevin Feige is as geeky as the rest of us, so we would be shocked not to see this brought to the MCU…

Marvel Studios Rumored To Have Plans For SPIDER-MAN And X-MEN Character Firestar

Image

According to a new rumour being shared online, Marvel Studios may have plans to introduce Firestar in the not too distant future. There’s no word on whether this would take place on the big or small screen, and this feels like another of those claims that a random character is coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (without providing any insight into when or where it will actually happen).

With that in mind, this should be taken with a pinch of salt, it would definitely make a lot of sense.

Introduced in NBC’s Saturday morning cartoon Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends, Firestar teamed up with the web-slinger and soon became a fan-favourite. That led to her making the leap from the screen to the comic books (rather than the other way around) in the pages of 1985’s Uncanny X-Men #193. She’s since helped found the New Warriors and remained allies with Peter Parker.

It’s feasible we could see Firestar in Spider-Man 3 or Marvel Studios’ eventual X-Men reboot, but we’re very much going to have to wait and see for now. However, if there is any truth to these claims, then it definitely appears as if Kevin Feige is starting to take advantage of those Fox characters.

WIth any luck, that will lead to the X-Men and Fantastic Four showing up in the MCU ASAP!

Click on the “Next” button below to check out
10 X-Men spinoffs we want to see in the MCU!

10. Origin

Origin

This often quite divisive series was adapted for all of five minutes of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but an actual movie based solely on this series could be something very special indeed. It told the tale of the young, sickly James Howlett, and how he became the man known as Wolverine.

Set in the late 19th Century, the supporting cast includes Dog Logan (James’ half-brother and the son of an abusive drunk who manages the grounds of the Howlett’s estate) and Rose, the love of the young Wolverine’s life. Unlike X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Dog isn’t Sabretooth, but keeping that particular alteration to the source material could actually work pretty well for the MCU.

If Marvel Studios is looking to take its time bringing Wolverine back to the big screen, then opening with a story (possibly in a Disney+ TV series) could flesh the character out in a big way.

9. Excalibur

Excalibur

Captain Britain’s big screen debut in the MCU is long overdue at this point, and while a different take on Exalibur can currently be found in the Marvel Comics, we’d love to see the original crew.

Some of the most notable X-Men to have been part of this group include Nightcrawler, Juggernaut, Daxxler, Phoenix (Rachel Summers), and Kate Pryde, not to mention Captain Britain’s sister, Psylocke (we’d want to see the original here). This team went on some crazy adventures together, mixing some of the X-Men’s foes with the interdimensional threats faced by Captain Britain.

This movie would also take place solely in the UK, and that alone could lend this adventure a fresh feel.

8. Age Of Apocalypse

AOA

The Age of Apocalypse timeline has been revisited numerous times over the years, and was created when the son of Charles Xavier travelled back in time to kill Magneto. However, when Xavier died protecting his former friend, a new timeline was created where Magneto came to believe in his late friend’s dream of a peaceful coexistence between humans and mutants.

However, Apocalypse chooses this moment as the perfect time to begin his world conquest and takes over North America, killing millions of humans in the process. Now Marvel Studios has introduced the concept of time-travel and alternate timelines, there’s no reason at all we couldn’t end up heading into this period and seeing what potentially becomes of Marvel’s mutants.

They’ll need to be established before we head down this route, but the spinoff potential is obvious.

7. Cable

Cable

Cable is the son of Cyclops and Jean Grey (well, her clone), and was brought up in the future due to being infected as an infant with a Techno-Organic Virus. As he grew up in the aforementioned Age of Apocalype timeline, there are ways these stories could all be intertwined in the MCU.

Josh Brolin’s Cable was, of course, introduced in Deadpool 2, and we’re sure Marvel Studios would be happy to work with him again in some sort of spinoff which leads into an “AOA” event.

A potentially even better option is the adaptation of a story which saw Cable take a young mutant baby into the future – the first one born in several years – in order to protect her from the insane Bishop. We see Hope Summers grow into a young adult under Cable’s care, and that could make for a great post apocalyptic movie. After all, the X-Men love their desolate futures!

6. X-Factor

X-Factor

A movie based on X-Factor has the potential to be something massively different for the MCU. While the team started off as a spinoff featuring now older versions of the original five X-Men working together when the likes of Colossus, Storm and Wolverine were introduced, Peter David’s take (which focuses on the mutant detective agency X-Factor Investigations) would be awesome.

That series featured a very diverse team of heroes, and the detective agency is led Jamie Madrox, the villain turned hero known as Multiple Man. In some ways, X-Factor would work even better as a TV series, and could be a good fit for ABC, FX, or another non-Disney+ network.

Marvel Studios has countless mutants at their disposal, so why not make good use of them here?

5. Starjammers

Starjammer

The Starjammers are a team of space pirates led by Cyclops and Havok’s father, Christopher Summers. When they were just children, the plane they were travelling in with their parents was attacked by an alien ship, and so their mother strapped the boys into their only parachute and pushed them out of the plane to safety while they were abducted.

While she would later die (murdered in front of his very eyes in fact), Christopher stayed in space and became a hero of sorts, leading a varied and eccentric team of aliens into battle.

This admittedly sounds somewhat similar to Guardians of the Galaxy, but the two teams aren’t really that much alike. Exploring the Summers lineage should be a priority for Marvel Studios, and once we meet Cyclops, a spinoff exploring his past and parents could be massively rewarding.

4. Alpha Flight

AF2

If Marvel Studios is interested in bringing yet another superhero team to the big screen, then this fairly obscure group of Canadian superheroes may not be a bad place to start.

Described as Canada’s answer to The Avengers, most members have something which pays homage to a piece of the country’s history. They were initially introduced as part of Wolverine’s back story as employees of Department H, a fictional branch of Canada’s Department of National Defence that deals with super-powered villains.

Introducing them in a future Wolverine movie or even making him part of the team would increase its chances at the box office, and they’re an interesting, diverse group regardless.

3. Daken: Dark Wolverine

Daken

Daken is Wolverine’s son who he only actually found out about a few years back, and he’s not a nice guy.

In fact, he’s so bad, that his father recently drowned and killed him to stop him hurting anyone else. For a time though, Daken tied to walk the path of a hero, but only for selfish means. With a few alterations here and there, this is a character who could definitely be retooled for the big screen.

Fox missed a trick by failing to explore Wolverine’s wider ties to both his past and children, and if we do get to follow his story from the very start, then laying the groundwork then for a Daken story down the line could be a smart move. It would also result in a potentially fun side adventure.

2. X-Force

X-Forcer

There are literally dozens of versions of X-Force, but the most recent – which saw the team portrayed as a hit squad of sorts handling the jobs deemed too dirty for the X-Men under the orders of Cyclops – is perhaps the most interesting, and arguably best suited for the big screen.

The huge number of mutants who have made up X-Force over the years means that we could see new takes on familiar faces or the introduction of many fan favourites who haven’t yet had chance to shine on the big screen. We know Ryan Reynolds was once keen to make this happen, so perhaps this is where his version of Deadpool could finally be brought into the MCU.

Time will tell on that front, but Marvel Studios would be crazy to leave this team of the shelf…

1. Old Man Logan

Old-Man-Logan-1

Old Man Logan was an incredible story arc by Mark Millar and Steve McNiven which took place in the near future after the fall of Earth’s superheroes. When pretty much every villain ever decided to team-up, it didn’t take long for the likes of the Avengers and X-Men to fall, and Wolverine was tricked by Spider-Man villain Mysterio into slaughtering his own teammates in the X-Men.

After attempting suicide, he went into hiding and started a family. However, years later, Hawkeye seeks him out and a battle against the Red Skull and a family of inbred Hulks kicks off in a truly epic story. Aside from a few Sony characters, Marvel Studios could adapt this in a way that Fox never could with Logan, and it could take place in the future or another reality.

Whatever the case may be, exploring the beginning and end of Wolverine’s life would be amazing.
