The secrecy surrounding season 1 of The Mandalorian meant that merchandise for the series was hard to find last November, but Disney is already releasing items for the upcoming season 2. 

For now, the focus on Din Djarin and his shiny new Beskar armor. Toys and Funko Pop figures featuring the bounty hunter in his second set of armor are few and far between, with most content for the show depicting the character in the battered version he was introduced in. 

That’s unfortunately the nature of the beast with a series like this one, and chances are there will be a real shortage of merchandise featuring the likes of Boba Fett and Ahsoka Tano this year.

The last thing Disney will want is for first looks at those characters to be revealed through t-shirt designs or leaked toys, so there probably won’t be many Ahsokas under Christmas trees this year. However, it’s likely we will get to see The Child dominate store shelves, especially if the cuteness overload in the first teaser trailer is any sort of indication of what’s on the way.

Hopefully, the curtain will continue to be pulled back on the series in the weeks to come.

2020 just keeps getting worse. Variety is reporting that a Black Widow delay is imminent, as Disney starts to explore different options for the Marvel Studios movie. Soul, meanwhile, is likely heading to Disney+, skipping a theatrical release altogether and giving the streaming service more new content. 

The “impending” Black Widow delay comes shortly after Warner Bros. moved Wonder Woman 1984 from early October to Christmas Day. Candyman was recently pushed into next year, and No Time to Die is now pretty much one of the last major winter blockbusters left standing. 

70% of U.S. theaters have reopened their doors, but New York and Los Angeles remain closed, and Tenet proved that a lot of people clearly aren’t ready to head back to their local multiplexes.

As the trade explains, “since the U.S. remains the biggest moviegoing market in the world, it is becoming increasingly difficult for studios to justify rolling out major blockbusters during the pandemic.” The hope was that Black Widow might move to Disney+, but there’s no mention of that in this report.

Reading between the lines, it sounds like Eternals, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and Thor: Love and Thunder could also move if Black Widow is indeed pushed into 2021.

Is Sony looking to carve out their own corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe?  With Tom Holland’s Peter Parker speculated to join Tom Hardy’s Venom and Jared Leto’s Morbius the Living Vampire in a series of interconnected films, it certainly looks that way.  Heck, they may beat WB’s The Flash to the concept of a multiverse as it’s also rumored that Morbius the Living Vampire might be connected to Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man.

With those above rumors floating about and the recently announced Spider-Woman and Kraven the Hunter films, a new report from Fandomwire has a little more plausibility.  The site is reporting that a Spider-Girl film is in development at Sony that’s set to focus on Anya Corazon aka Araña (the Spanish word for spider). At first blush, it’s hard to believe that Sony would skip over the likes of May Parker, the daughter of Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson, but the character origins and powers are rife with cinematic potential.

Anya Corazon is a half Mexican, half Peurto Rican superheroine whose Spider-based powers are derived from mystical means. She has the usual increased strength and spider-like agility with the bonus of a special spider-like exoskeleton that she can sprout at will. The character has appeared in several popular Marvel storylines including Heart of the Spider, Night of the Hunter, Civil War, Grim Hunt, Young Allies, Spider-Island, Secret Wars and more.

Just days after sharing a #IStandWithRayFisher Instagram post, Aquaman actor Jason Momoa is taking his support to the next level. It seems Momoa is accusing Warner Bros. of using his casting in its live-action Frosty the Snowman film as a way to draw interest away from Ray Fisher’s allegations of mistreatment during the filming of Justice League. In his latest Instagram post, Momoa back’s Fisher’s assertions that the abuse occurred during reshoots on the film in July 2017.

The controversy all began on June 29 when Fisher used his Twitter account to retract some favorable comments he made about Joss Whedon at San Diego Comic-Con 2017. Things have escalated from there, as Fisher went on to name Geoff Johns, Jon Berg and Walter Hamada as top-level WB executives who enabled Whedon’s behavior or turned a blind eye.

Recently, Iris West actress Kiersey Clemons also shared her support for Fisher on social media. Her role in Justice League was ultimately cut and it remains to be seen if she will appear in Andy Muschietti’s Flashpoint-inspired standalone film for the speedster.
