Watch: Something Is Coming In New Stranger Things 4 Trailer

x

Stranger Things season 4 has been taking its sweet time in getting here, but with production finally wrapping up, after beginning way back in January 2020, a long-awaited return trip to Hawkins, Indiana is almost on in sight. And this thrilling new promo promises that one heck of a dramatic season awaits us when it debuts on Netflix sometime next year.

The first half of this 40-second teaser, as first shared by Netflix India this Friday morning, recaps the events of the past three seasons of the smash-hit streaming show, before the next 20 seconds then showcase a few tantalizing clips of season 4. “In 2022, the global phenomenon returns,” the trailer reveals. Check it out via the player above.

Those clips include a shot of a distraught Eleven (Mille Bobby Brown) being held back by two officials, a group shot of a bunch of our heroes – namely, Steve (Joe Keery), Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Robin (Maya Hawke), Max (Sadie Sink), Nancy (Natalia Dyer) and Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) – investigating some dark creepy place and Hawkins’ own sheriff Jim Hopper (David Harbour) acting like an action hero. Not to mention an eerie shot of a grandfather clock. Anyone got any idea what that means?

Most of the main cast is present and correct in this teaser, though we don’t get any new footage featuring the Byers family – i.e. Joyce (Winona Ryder), Will (Noah Schnapps) and Jonathan (Charlie Heaton). That’s not too surprising, however, considering they moved away from Hawkins at the end of season 3. But, don’t worry, they definitely will be back. They took Eleven with them, remember, and she’s going to be as much a driving force of this season as ever.

Stranger Things season 4 – which will consist of eight episodes and introduce new cast members including Eduardo Franco, Jamie Campbell Bower and Robert Englund – is set to hit Netflix sometime in 2022.

Watch: New Walking Dead Season 11 Promo Teases Huge Stakes

x

The Walking Dead returns for its final season in just a couple of weeks, and this promo does a great job of teasing how the stakes have never been higher. With the end in sight, the famously trigger-happy show could be about to get extra dangerous – not all of the survivors are going to make it out alive as they fight to reclaim their home Alexandria from the latest threat to their existence, the Reapers. Check out the trailer via the video above.

“What we have, compared to everything that’s out there, is rare,” says Maggie (Lauren Cohan) in the promo. “That’s why we need to take it back.” Maggie apparently believes in this mission so much that she’s willing to team up with old enemy Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) to do it, as the teaser includes a clip we’ve already seen in previous promos – of Maggie accepting a gun from the ex-villain. “This is our home, and we’ll fight to save it,” declares Aaron (Ross Marquand) in another clip, while we see Judith (Cailey Fleming) training up her fellow kids on how to fight. She’s definitely her parents’ daughter…

“I don’t leave anybody behind, not ever,” promises Daryl (Norman Reedus), as he raises his crossbow at an unseen assailant. The heroic speeches continue as Father Gabriel (Seth Gilliam) ends the trailer with a selfless message. “We live for them,” he says, over a montage of various survivors, such as Rosita (Christian Serratos), Ezekiel (Khary Payton) and Kelly (Angel Theory), in action. “If we die, we die for them.”

Reedus has previously explained that the super-sized 24-part season 11 will be broken up into two storylines – first of all, it’ll focus on the battle against the Reapers before the Commonwealth arc takes over, with the militarized community – the biggest ever seen in the TWD universe – being teased at throughout this trailer.

The Walking Dead season 11 premieres its first block of eight episodes on August 22nd on AMC, while AMC Plus subscribers can catch it from August 15th.

Watch: Gerard Butler And Frank Grillo Face Off In Copshop Trailer

x

By virtue of each man’s reputation and back catalogue that’s firmly established them as two of mid budget genre cinema’s undisputed top talents, you’ve probably already decided if Copshop is on your watch-list based entirely on the presence of Gerard Butler and Frank Grillo in the two lead roles.

Throw in Smokin’ Aces, The A-Team and The Grey director Joe Carnahan, who also recently helmed Grillo’s inventive and massively entertaining time loop actioner Boss Level with Mel Gibson, and you’ve got yourself a recipe for what should be a gritty, grizzled and fun time at the movies.

Grillo dons a wig and a man bun as an infamous con artist who goes on the run and finds no other options left on the table besides turning himself in. However, Butler’s hitman is hot on his trail, and he too gets himself arrested to move as close to the target as possible. Throwing another spanner in the works, he’s not the only criminal baying for blood, with a small town police station acting as the battleground for all-out war.

The trailer promises pretty much exactly what you’d want and expect from the meeting of middle-aged badasses Grillo and Butler, who look be be trading just as many barbs as punches, but it’s veteran character actor Toby Huss who seems poised to steal the show with a scenery-chewing turn as a psychopathic killer.

Copshop is coming to theaters on September 17th, the spot recently vacated by Clifford the Red Dog when Paramount decided to pull the family film from the schedule, but it’s safe to say there wasn’t much danger of the two projects cannibalizing each other’s audience.

Watch: Bruising New Trailer For Netflix Action Movie Kate

x

Netflix are developing a well-earned reputation for producing a string of hugely popular and even more entertaining action movies, with recent hits including Liam Neeson’s The Ice Road and Karen Gillan’s Gunpowder Milkshake. Looking at the first trailer for next month’s Kate, there’s plenty more on the way.

Mary Elizabeth Winstead stars as the title heroine, who finds herself poisoned by her enemies, leaving her with just 24 hours to live. Instead of sitting around crying about it, she instead goes on a revenge-fueled rampage to track down the people responsible, where she’ll team up with a teenage girl along the way.

If the premise sounds suspiciously like a cross between Jason Statham’s Crank and John Wick, then the footage would make it clear those comparisons are right on the money. Winstead is an underrated action hero, and she looks to be bringing her A-game to a series of bone-crunching set pieces.

Kate

The Wick connection is evident through the visuals alone, but David Leitch and Kelly McCormick’s 87North production company are also the ones behind the project, so we can expect impressive choreography and stylish fight sequences given that the outfit have also been responsible for Charlize Theron’s Atomic Blonde and Bob Odenkirk’s Nobody.

The Huntsman: Winter’s War director Cedric Nicolas-Troyan is behind the camera, but don’t let that concern you when the cast also includes Woody Harrelson as the hitwoman’s handler, Army of the Dead and Mortal Kombat badass Hiroyuki Sanada, along with The Haunting of Hill House and Orphan Black‘s Michiel Huisman. Kate is coming to Netflix on September 10th, and a place at the summit of the most-watched list is already guaranteed.

Thank god we got more strong female action leads to show the evil bad men who’s boss.

I’m sure this will pull amazing box office.

Watch: New Marvel’s What If…? Promo Teases An MCU Show Like No Other

x

Our next Marvel TV obsession is about to launch next week. What If…?, Marvel Studios’ first animated production, is an MCU show like no other as this anthology series is set to dive into a different alternate reality each week, with every episode brought to life with a multitude of your favorite MCU stars. Now that we’re almost just seven days away from the premiere next Wednesday, a new promo for What If…? has dropped which features even more fresh footage.

“What if the stories you remembered changed in a way you’d never forget?” asks the trailer voiceover guy, as one intriguing clip plays. It sees the original Avengers lineup uniting but with one major alteration – Black Panther is in place of Hulk. “What if the heroes you knew became something larger than life?” the voiceover continues, playing over footage of Captain Carter flipping over a truck.

“Expect the unexpected,” we’re then told over a bunch of shots of some of the variants we’re about to meet – Killmonger saving Tony Stark at the beginning of Iron Man, Gamora in Thanos’ armor and Spider-Man, well, being Spider-Man. We also hear a snippet of Samuel L. Jackson reprising Nick Fury as well as Jeffrey Wright, joining the MCU as Uatu the Watcher, the series’ narrator.

The first reactions to the show have been positive, with many calling it the most ambitious MCU show yet and the perfect continuation of the multiversal themes of Loki. Episode 1 will introduce Hayley Atwell’s Captain Carter, a Peggy variant who took the super-soldier serum instead of Steve, while episode 2 follows a version of T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman, in his final Marvel performance) who becomes Star-Lord. Also look out for a Marvel Zombies-themed episode.

Don’t miss the 10-part first season of What If…? when it kicks off August 11th on Disney Plus.

Watch: Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool Suit Doesn’t Fit In New Free Guy Promo

x

You’ve got to hand it to Ryan Reynolds for his unique approach to marketing, whether it be his Aviation gin, Mint Mobile or his feature film projects. Having debuted Deadpool in the Marvel Cinematic Universe by slyly using the Merc with a Mouth as a promotional tool to hype upcoming blockbuster Free Guy, he’s at it again, except this time it’s a lot weirder.

In the potentially spoilery clip, we find out that Taika Waititi’s Antwan has created a bigger, better and buffer model of Reynolds’ Guy to put into the world of Free City in an effort to try and stop the friendly NPC from breaking out of his loop. An unfinished build, the hulking meathead is known only as Dude, with his catchphrase literally being the word “catchphrase”, because nobody’s managed to come up with a real one yet.

What follows is a bizarre interview where Reynolds has his face jarringly pasted onto somebody else’s body, and it includes a gag about him being so jacked that he can no longer fit into his Deadpool costume, in among jokes about his child being born fully grown with shoes on, and a morning protein shake comprised entirely of human muscle.

Like we said earlier, it’s weird as hell, but it’s definitely an interesting way to market a mega budget family film that’s less than two weeks away from release having been delayed by well over a year. Free Guy has been generating some strong early reactions, and while the brief clip of Dude doesn’t give too much away in terms of plot specifics, it does indicate that audiences are in for a wild and unpredictable ride when Shawn Levy’s latest hits the big screen.

Watch: What If…? Trailer Teases Marvel’s Next Disney Plus Series

x

Marvel fans can see a new look at the stories featured in the upcoming “What If…?” Disney+ show in a new teaser trailer.

The What If…? series is based on the comic series of the same name that adds an interesting twist on classic Marvel stories. These range from minor changes to significant differences that completely change the backgrounds and origin stories of characters. These stories are not canon and only serve as a fun look at what could’ve been.

The new animated What If…? show will feature stories about some of the most prominent Marvel characters like Captain America, Black Panther, Star Lord, and others. The latest trailer shows how these classic characters could be significantly different with only minor changes to their origin stories.

For example, the trailer shows Peggy Carter receiving the super-soldier serum instead of Steve Rodgers. She becomes a British-themed superhero and likely takes Captain America’s place in this version.

Speaking of Captain America, another clip shows a zombified version of the first Avenger fighting Bucky Barnes. It is unclear how Captain America reached this undead state, but it should be a thrilling experience watching this drastically different version of the character.

Fans can also see what would’ve happened if T’Challa became Star Lord instead of Peter Quinn. Other notable characters like Dr. Strange and Spiderman appear in the series, although their stories have not been revealed yet. However, it will be nice to see these iconic characters experience intense adventures outside of the Marvel cinematic universe.

What If…? premieres on Disney+ on August 11.

Watch: Injustice Animated Movie Preview Leaks Online

x

Fighting games aren’t supposed to have good stories. All they need is a flimsy justification for a bunch of strange-looking characters to fight in exotic locations, maybe a nonsensical cutscene at the end and you’re done.

But Mortal Kombat developers NetherRealm Studios have put a lot of effort disproving that, with their Injustice DC Universe titles telling an extremely compelling story about an alternative world where things have gone bad. Now a featurette giving us a great look at the movie has leaked, so check it out above before it’s taken down.

On the surface it’s ‘yer typical ‘Superman-gone-bad’ tale, with the Joker pushing him over the edge into murder. This causes him to re-evaluate his moral code and, in the blink of an eye, we’re in a Superman-controlled authoritarian dystopia. Batman resolves to stop him, with various heroes and villains forming unlikely partnerships on either side.

It’s resulted in a hugely popular mini-franchise, with many fans looking forward to the rumored Injustice 3. But before that comes DC Animation’s Injustice, which will show the moment this universe forked away from standard DC fare. The featurette takes us through Superman’s one very bad day and the immediate repercussions, along with the perspectives of the creative team.

DC appears to be aiming for a ‘Civil War’ type situation (they even use the phrase), with the writers and directors revealing whether they’re ‘Team Batman’ or ‘Team Superman’. Honestly though, if you’ve played any of the games you’d have to be a bit evil to side with Superman here, as the Injustice version is one of the more despicable alt-universe takes on the Man of Steel.

We don’t have an official release date yet, but I’m betting it’ll drop on HBO Max sometime in the next two months. Let’s hope that’ll coincide with the Injustice 3 reveal.

Watch: Jason Momoa And Dave Bautista Kick Ass In New See Season 2 Trailer

x

History has shown that audiences love high concept sci-fi, big budget fantasy and beefy dudes beating the ever-loving sh*t out of each other, and on that basis alone, the latest trailer for Season 2 of AppleTV+ series See looks to deliver everything you could possible want and a whole lot more.

Apple’s entry into the top tier of the streaming wars has been slow to say the least, which is largely because the platform doesn’t possess a lot of in-house content with the ability to capture the imagination of either the public or online community. See bucked that trend to a certain degree by delivering plenty of star power in the form of Jason Momoa and some epic production values, while the addition of Dave Bautista to Season 2 has instantly doubled the levels of grizzled badassery.

See

See takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where the vast majority of the human population lost their vision, forcing humanity to evolve as an almost entirely blind species, to the extent that those with the ability are deemed as heretics. Naturally, evil forces are looking to seize that power for themselves, forcing Momoa’s fantastically-named Baba Voss to protect his family at all costs because his daughter Haniwa can see.

Bautista has been cast as Momoa’s brother, and you can only imagine the volume of protein that was consumed in that household when they were growing up, looking at the sheer size of them and the ease with which they dispatch their enemies in the footage. Season 2 of See is coming to AppleTV+ on August 27th, and the great news for fans is that a third run of episodes has already been ordered, so the journey is far from over.

Watch: New Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings Trailer Is All About The Visuals

x

After a completely barren 2020 where no new content was released, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is making up for lost time this year, with six Disney Plus exclusives and four feature films all arriving between January 1st and December 31st. It may have taken the movies a while to get rolling, but coming hot on the heels of Black Widow, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is just over five weeks away.

So far, the footage has painted the fantasy martial arts epic as unlike anything the MCU has ever seen before, even if some of the story beats regarding a hero who initially turns his back on destiny learns to embrace it while simultaneously overcoming a deep-rooted set of daddy issues are very familiar. From a visual standpoint, Shang-Chi looks incredible, so it’s no surprise the eye-popping aesthetic is the main focus of the latest TV spot.

It’s light on plot but heavy on action, which hopefully isn’t reflective of the film itself, but Simu Liu is poised to deliver the sort of star-making performance the MCU has become famous for, and the leading man will be hoping to mimic the success enjoyed by contemporaries Chris Hemsworth, Chris Pratt, Tom Holland and more.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings generated a slight amount of controversy overseas, to the extent that it might not end up getting released in China in what would be a hammer blow to its box office potential, but audiences around the world are more than eager to devour the latest offering from the MCU as soon as it becomes available.

By the time Destin Daniel Cretton’s effort comes to multiplexes on September 3rd, don’t bet against it dislodging stablemate Black Widow to set a new pandemic-era opening weekend record.
