In an alternate timeline, we’d be just over a month away from the series finale of Supernatural, but unfortunately, due to the worldwide coronavirus pandemic, production on the final two episodes of the long-running series has been halted and the final seven episodes have all been postponed indefinitely.
While it’s not entirely clear when fans may get their chance to bid farewell to the Winchesters, Entertainment Weekly was able to get in a proper goodbye last August when they got together with Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins for the stars’ final EW cover shoot.
Despite the series often feeling like it could realistically go on forever, talks of a proper ending began at least three seasons ago, but it wasn’t until just last year that the longtime co-stars and real-life friends decided season fifteen would be their final ride. Ackles explains, “[Jared] and I were always married to the fact that we never wanted to go out with a diet version of what we had We wanted to have enough gas left in the tank to get us racing across the finish line. We didn’t want to limp across… It just kind of came together, so Jared and I sat down with Andrew and [co-showrunner] Bob [Singer] and talked about what it could look like and what were the different scenarios, and this one seemed like the best one.“
Collins adds, “We were in the end zone, and Andrew gave the rationale of, ‘We can stretch this to two or three years or we could go out with one really great final season,’ and that sounded like a really good note to end on and I think that’s ultimately what Jared and Jensen rallied around.“
The twenty-episode fifteenth and final season was formally announced in late March of last year, midway through production on season 14, and while it may have been official from that moment on, it still didn’t stop the boys from having their reservations about bringing the series to an end.
“We had that moment where he and I both realized that we didn’t want it to end. It finally got to a point, ironically, where it was like, ‘I never want to leave this. I could do this until the day I die, and then if I get the choice when I’m dead, I’ll re-up!’ But you never want to be the last person at a party. We just knew. That’s not to say there haven’t been vacillations, but we all trust the decision that was made.“

Following today’s batch of Dune images, Zendaya (Spider-Man: Far From Home) has shared another official still via social media which gives us a new look at her character, the mysterious warrior Chani.
Chani is a member of the nomadic people known as the Fremen, who are indigenous to the desert planet Arrakis. She encounters Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) and his mother Jessica (Rebecca Ferguson) soon after they arrive, and eventually becomes the young royal’s love interest.
Here, we get a much better look at Chani’s blue-within-blue eyes (a side-effect of the spice) and her still-suit, which recycles the body’s water and allows for desert travel.
Just in case you’re not too familiar with the Dune universe, you’ll find a breakdown of the main characters and who’ll be playing them along with some of today’s images below.
We don’t spoil any major events from the book, but if you’d rather go in knowing as little as possible, might be best to skip it!

Paul Atreides is the primary protagonist of Dune.
Born on the planet Caladan to Duke Leto Atreides I and his Bene Gesserit concubine Lady Jessica, Paul eventually travels to Arrakis and winds up becoming a Messiah-like figure to the desert planet’s indigenous people, The Fremen. There, he meets and falls in love with a Fremen warrior named Chani, and is forced to choose between settling down with her and embracing the terrifying destiny glimpsed in his spice-induced visions.
Paul will be played by Call Me By Your Name star Timothée Chalamet.

Fremen warrior and Paul Areides’ love interest, Chani is the daughter of half-Fremen planetologist Liet Kynes.
When Paul arrives on Arrakis, Chani is serving under Stilgar as his right-hand woman but soon falls for the mysterious young newcomer – even though she remains wary of the powerful prescient visions they share.
Spider-Man: Far From Home‘s Zendaya will play Chani in Villeneuve’s film.

Upon arriving on Arrakis, Jessica is welcomed into the ranks of The Fremen along with her son, and eventually accepts the position of new Reverend Mother, despite being aware of the potentially catastrophic repercussions of this action.
Jessica will be played by Mission: Impossible – Fallout star Rebecca Ferguson.

Paul’s father Leto Atreides I starts out as the ruler of the planet Caladan, but when The Emperor asks him to take control of Arrakis and oversee spice production there, he relocates to the planet known as Dune with his son and concubine, Jessica.
Leto is generally well liked and respected by all of his subjects for his even-handed and compassionate leadership style, but this also leads to jealousy among his fellow noblemen of the other Great Houses.
This take on Leto Atreides will be brought to life by Oscar Isaac (Star Wars: The Last Jedi, X-Men: Apocalypse).

Stilgar Ben Fifrawi is the noble Naib (leader) of Sietch Tabr, a Fremen tribe of Arrakis, and one of Paul Atreides’ most loyal allies.
When Leto and his family relocate to Dune, Stilgar and his people are wary of their motives at first but soon come to view The Duke’s son Paul as the desert messiah of their ancient prophecies. Stilgar also strikes up a strong friendship with Duncan Idaho.
In Dune (2020), this character will be played by Javier Bardem (Skyfall, No Country for Old Men, Mother!).

Duncan Idaho is a skilled swordmaster loyal to House Atreides who helps to train Paul in various combat styles.
In the novel, Leto sends Duncan to Arrakis as an envoy to get a read on the nomadic Fremen population. While there, Idaho strikes up a friendship with Stilgar and ultimately winds up pledging dual allegiance to the Atreides and the Fremen leader.
Aquaman star Jason Momoa has been cast as this fan-favorite character.

The ruthless, but noble Warmaster for House Atreides, Gurney Halleck was one of Paul’s principal teachers along with Duncan during his early years on Caladan.
An exceptionally skilled warrior, Gurney is described as “an ugly lump of a man” in the source material, which may suggest that the actor who’ll be playing him, Josh Brolin, will be undergoing a slight transformation for the role.

Rosario Dawson (Daredevil, Sin City) has commented on recent reports that she’s joined the cast of The Mandalorian Season 2 for the first time, and while she stops just short of fully confirming the news, it sounds like she’s simply a little hesitant to jump the gun ahead of some kind of official announcement.
During an interview with Variety, Dawson joked that she “will just retire” and go into politics as along as she gets to be a part of her two favorite franchises, Star Trek and Star Wars. Of course, the possibility of her bringing life to Ahsoka in the galaxy far, far away was then brought up.
“That’s not confirmed yet but when that happens, I will be very happy. I’m very excited for that to be confirmed at some point,” she said, adding it would be “a million and one percent because of the fans.”
The trades were fairly confident that Dawson had signed on for a role in the live-action Star Wars series back when the news first broke, but they seemed less certain that she’ll be playing Tano. is it possible that the Briarpatch star will bring life to a different character? We’ll just have to wait and see.
As for the final frontier, Rosario says she’d “be happy to be a background Romulan or Vulcan,” but seems to have her sights set on playing a female take on Q!
“I mean it would be great ‘cause then I could jump on ‘Discovery.’ I could be on ‘Picard.’ I just want to be with Jean-Luc Picard,” said the self-proclaimed Trekkie.

After postponing his retirement four times since 2013, former Disney CEO Robert Iger finally decided to step down from his post this past February, fully anticipating a smooth transition from CEO to executive chairman as he gradually passed the torch to his successor Robert Chapek.
However, things didn’t quite go according to plan, as the coronavirus pandemic ravaged the globe and effectively shut down the world indefinitely.
With the pandemic not expected to subside anytime in the near future, Disney has been among the biggest, if not the biggest, media corporation to be devastated by the public health crisis and subsequent economic shutdown, delaying multiple theatrical releases and closing all film & TV productions, theme parks, cruises and more for the foreseeable future.
As the summer swiftly approaches and the bubble of uncertainty seemingly expanding by the minute, The New York Times has confirmed this week that the House of Mouse has turned back to the beloved Iger for guidance through this most troubling of times, and Iger himself has since confirmed that he is indeed back to the running the ship.
Despite his hopes to leave the company on top, especially after the year he just had, Iger realized quickly that the vast scope of this global emergency would require a more steadied hand to lead the way. He tells NYT, “A crisis of this magnitude, and its impact on Disney, would necessarily result in my actively helping Bob [Chapek] and the company contend with it, particularly since I ran the company for 15 years!”
Disney is reportedly in dire straits at the moment, and as of April 19, will have already furloughed an estimated 73,000 employees out of their total employee count of 223,000. That figure is also expected to increase in the coming weeks.
Along with reassuming his previous responsibilities, Iger will also begin to focus on Disney post-pandemic, determining what it will look like and how it may operate moving forward. He’s already had discussions about ending a variety of expensive television practices, including advertising upfronts and producing pilots for shows that may not air, and has also had talks about potentially reopening with less office space and fewer employees.
