GLOW Star Alison Brie Rumored To Be Marvel Studios’ Top Choice To Play Jennifer Walters In SHE-HULK

Image

As with most of the rumours that do the rounds from Twitter’s so-called “scoopers,” it’s best to take this one with a pinch of salt, but it’s said today that Alison Brie could be a contender for the role of Jennifer Walters in She-Hulk. The GLOW star is potentially at the top of Marvel Studios’ wish-list, though they may also be happy with an “Alison Brie-type”.

That’s very vague, but this was to be expected for lawyer Jennifer Walters. After all, while fans have spent years imagining actresses like Gina Carano and Ronda Rousey as She-Hulk, Jennifer transforms into her superhero persona the exact same way Bruce Banner does when he becomes the Green Goliath.

While Brooklyn 99 star Stephanie Beatriz has become something of a fan-favourite choice, she’s confirmed that her commitments to the sitcom make it highly unlikely that she would be able to star in She-Hulk on Disney+. It’s certainly exciting to think about what someone like Brie would bring to this role, and now hard to think of a better choice for Bruce’s cousin.

Production on the series is expected to begin over the summer, so it may not be too much longer until some casting news for the series comes our way (and hopefully direct from the trades).

Do you think Alison Brie would be a fitting choice for She-Hulk?

Take a closer look at all the new characters coming to the
MCU in Phase 4 and 5 by clicking on the “Next” button below!

Black Widow

Melina Vostokoff (Rachel Weisz)

Iron-Maiden

Better known as Iron Maiden in the source material, Melina was forced to live in Black Widow’s shadow and that’s something which pushed her over the edge and set her on a dark path.

The MCU’s version of the character will be another Black Widow and while it sounds like she’ll be an ally, something tells us that probably won’t last for long.

Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh)

Yelena

Yelena Belova was Natasha Romanoff’s predecessor in the comics and is a villain who the original Black Widow has clashed with many times over the years.

This time, it sounds like she’s going to be an ally to Natasha, but it’s entirely possible her evil nature will ultimately be revealed…or that she’ll end up becoming the MCU’s new Black Widow!

Red Guardian (David Harbour)

Red-Guardian

Russia’s version of Captain America, it sounds like Red Guardian is going to be tasked with taking Black Widow down on behalf of his government and/or the Red Room.

He certainly looks pretty formidable based on the concept art we’ve seen but time will tell whether he has a future in the MCU beyond this solo outing for Natasha.

Taskmaster (TBC)

Taskmaster

Taskmaster is able to absorb and replicate the fighting style of anyone he sees in action. His identity has always been a secret, and that’s probably why we’ve yet to find out who plays him.

He has, however, been spotted on set and in concept art squaring off with Black Widow.

Mason (O-T Fagbenle)

OT

Little to nothing is known about O-T Fagbenle’s mysterious Mason as the character doesn’t appear to be based on any one character from the comic books.

However, rumours have pointed to him initially serving as a love interest of sorts to Natasha before he’s ultimately outed as being (you guessed it) Taskmaster. We’ll have to wait and see, though.

Black Widow’s Father (Ray Winstone)

Ray

We’re betting that you’ve forgotten about Ray Winstone being cast in Black Widow, right?

Well, nothing official has been revealed about his role since then but there are plenty of rumours which indicate that he’ll wind up playing Natasha’s father (she learned his name in Avengers: Endgame).

Eternals

Ikaris (Richard Madden)

Ikaris

Born over 20,000 years ago, Ikaris’ powers are rooted in cosmic energy and he has psychic abilities and the power to create illusions.

Fans have been hoping to see Richard Madden join a comic book franchise for a while now and there are rumblings that Ikaris could end up being the MCU’s first openly gay superhero.

Sersi (Gemma Chan)

Sersi

Sersi has a strong desire to live among the humans. She’s also incredibly powerful and can only be killed if her atoms are scattered and it would take someone very powerful indeed to achieve that.

Her interest in humans would explain reports that the character will be romantically linked to Dane Whitman, a superhero otherwise known as Black Knight.

Thena (Angelina Jolie)

Thena

Yes, Angelina Jolie is indeed in a Marvel movie! One of the Eternals of Olympia, Thena is a warrior who has your standard enhanced abilities but is also near invulnerable and immortal.

She can fly and cast illusions to disguise her appearance, while she carries a bow that fires arrows made up of “cold energy” which bombards enemies either with a ring of fire or anti-gravitons.

Dane Whitman/Black Knight (Kit Harington)

Black-Knight

It was smart of Kit Harington to make the leap from Game of Thrones to the MCU, especially after some poor decisions in the past (anyone remember Pompeii?).

As of right now, we don’t know whether Black Knight will be an actor, a regular guy with no powers from the present day, or an actual Medieval Knight as there have been a lot of conflicting reports.

Druig (Barry Keoghan)

Druig

It sounds like Druig could end up being the movie’s lead villain and, in the source material, he’s a formidable character who can manipulate matter and energy and served as an agent of the KGB once upon a time.

Barry Keoghan is pretty young, though, so don’t be surprised if his background is changed here.

Kingo (Kumail Nanjiani)

Kingo

Kingo decided against hiding in the shadows and, as a result, be became a well-known samurai and movie star.

Whether that will be the case here is unclear, especially as Marvel has changed the character’s race (likely to avoid many of the racial stereotypes often associated with this member of the Eternals).

Makkari (Lauren Ridloff)

Makkari

Makkari is a member of the Eternals Technologist’s Guild and extremely skilled at dreaming up various high-speed vehicles. He boasts your standard set of superpowers but is being gender swapped for the MCU.

With Lauren Ridloff in the role, Makkari holds the honour of being this shared world’s first deaf superhero.

Phastos (Brian Tyree Henry)

Phastos

Phastos is a weapon-smith who will likely be responsible for crafting the weapons and armour we see the Eternals wear into battle over the thousands of years this movie covers.

We’ve not heard much about his role in this film beyond that but it’s hard not to be excited with Brian Tyree Henry playing the hero.

Ajak (Salma Hayek)

Ajak

Gender swapped for the movie, it’s believed that this version of Ajak will be the leader of the Eternals and just like her comic book counterpart, she’ll be worshipped by the Incas.

In terms of powers, Ajak is a force to be reckoned with and can mentally manipulate gravitons.

Sprite (Lia McHugh)

Sprite

Sprite has been gender swapped in Eternals but it sounds like Marvel is still sticking pretty close to the comics. In those, the character never ages so is an adult forever trapped inside a child’s body.

Considered a trickster by his fellow heroes, Sprite actually uses his powers at one point to wipe their memories and give them new lives so that’s definitely something we could see here too.

Gilgamesh (Don Lee)

Gilgamesh

Gilgamesh became an outcast from his fellow Eternals when his meddling in the human world became too much for them and he soon found himself banished to Olympus.

Whether that’s something this movie will delve into is hard to say but Don Lee is an awesome addition to the movie.

Hercules (TBC)

Hercules

One of Marvel’s most beloved heroes, rumours have been swirling for ages now that an openly gay Hercules will make his presence felt in the history spanning Eternals

However, unless Marvel has cast him in secret, we’ve heard nothing about him showing up that’s concrete.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

Shang-Chi (Simu Liu)

Shang-Chi

There’s a lot of excitement to see this master of the martial arts on the big screen and Simi Liu is clearly passionate about the role based on what he’s said since being cast.

Originally the son of Fu Manchu (a horrible, racist stereotype), his origin story is seemingly being changed in the MCU to link Shang-Chi to classic Iron Man villain, The Mandarin.

The Mandarin (Tony Leung)

Mandarin

We were introduced to a fake version of The Mandarin in Iron Man 3 but the real deal is now on his way to the MCU and he won’t be sparring with Tony Stark.

Instead, he’s being reinvented as Shang-Chi’s father if recent rumours are to be believed but you have to hope he’ll still have those powerful, alien Ten Rings.

Tiger Claw (TBC)

Tiger-Claw

There have been a lot of casting calls for Shang-Chi lately but one name which keeps coming up is Tiger Claw (who is potentially being renamed “Steel Claw” for the MCU).

A longtime foe of Shang-Chi’s, it’s honestly not at all surprising that he’ll appear in the movie.

Fah Lo Suee (Awkwafina)

Fah

Marvel Studios declined to reveal who Awkwafina will play in the movie at Comic-Con but it’s since been rumoured that the actress will take on the role of Fah Lo Suee.

Shang-Chi’s sister joins MI-6 after becoming estranged from her father and a modernised take on the character seems likely for The Legend of the Ten Rings

Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness

Nightmare (TBC)

Nightmare

We know that the Scarlet Witch will make the leap from WandaVision to this sequel but it’s still thought that Nightmare will end up being the movie’s lead villain given the fact it’s been billed as a horror movie.

The ruler of the Dream Dimension is someone director Scott Derrickson is clearly interested in and he’d make for a formidable foe to the Sorcerer Supreme.

Clea (TBC)

Clea

Rachel McAdams’ Dr. Palmer didn’t leave the most lasting of impacts in Doctor Strange and fans remain desperate to see Clea brought to the big screen.

Well, rumour has it that’s happening here and for those of you unfamiliar with the hero, she’s the niece of Dormammu, Strange’s love interest, and an occasional ruler of the Dark Dimension.

Brother Voodoo (TBC)

Voodoo

Daniel Drumm was included in one of Doctor Strange‘s deleted scenes but it sounds like we could meet his brother Jericho – better known as Brother Voodoo – in this sequel.

He’s extremely powerful and even served as a Sorcerer Supreme in the comics for a time.

Spider-Man 3

Kraven The Hunter (TBC)

Kraven

Rumours continue to swirl about Norman Osborn’s MCU debut but it didn’t happen in Spider-Man: Far From Home and it’s probably too soon to start speculating about that being the case in the untitled third instalment.

However, there have been rumblings about Kraven the Hunter finally making his big screen debut and that would be a fitting choice now that Spidey’s identity has been revealed.

Thor: Love And Thunder

The Mighty Thor (Natalie Portman)

Thor2

Yes, we’ve met Jane Foster before now (she appeared in Thor and Thor: The Dark World) but we’ve certainly never seen the Mighty Thor in the MCU!

It’s going to be amazing seeing this version of the character on the big screen and while we still don’t know how she ends up with Mjolnir, her arrival could be a game-changer for this shared world.

Enchantress (TBC)

Enchantress

Almost all of Thor’s greatest foes have been brought to the big screen by this point but the fact Enchantress still hasn’t made her presence felt in the MCU is shocking.

She’s one of Thor’s greatest and most powerful foes not only because of her immense power, but also because she’s obsessed with him and wants to make the God of Thunder her own…whether he likes it or not!

Black Panther II

Doctor Doom (TBC)

Doom

Marvel Studios has regained the rights to the Fantastic Four franchise and you have to believe that Doctor Doom is high up on their priority list.

Well, if one recent rumour is to be believed, the Black Panther sequel will be a loose adaptation of the “Doomwar” storyline which will see Latveria declare war on Wakanda.

Namor The Submariner (TBC)

Namor

Another separate rumour for the sequel claims that Marvel Studios finally has plans to use Namor the Submariner in the MCU and that means it will be him who clashes with T’Challa.

They’ve got quite the rivalry in the comics but time will tell whether this ultimately pans out.

Blade

Blade (Mahershala Ali)

Blade

The biggest surprise at this year’s Comic-Con came when Kevin Feige brought out Mahershala Ali and revealed that he will play the MCU’s own Daywalker, Blade.

That’s exciting for a long list of reasons and rumour has it that his solo movie could end up tying into the Moon Knight TV series coming to Disney+ a few years from now.

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3

Adam Warlock (TBC)

Warlcok

Adam Warlock’s MCU arrival was teased at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and while James Gunn recently claimed that there’s nothing to say he’ll appear in Vol. 3, it’s hard to imagine that not being the case.

Providing his introduction is handled the correct way, Warlock could prove to be a major new player in this shared world.

Lylla (TBC)

Lylla

Reliable sources have pointed to this movie delving into Rocket’s origin story and that he’ll be getting a love interest in the form of Lylla.

A sapient otter and Rocket’s soulmate in the comics, her introduction here would be a lot of fun and opens the door to a lot of very exciting and unusual storytelling possibilities.

Fantastic Four

FF

The Fantastic Four are on their way to the MCU and while it’s still too early to say who will play Marvel’s First Family, John Krasinski and Emily Blunt remain fan-favourite choices to star as Reed Richards and Sue Storm.

That would be amazing but the team is reportedly a priority for Marvel Studios and that’s no great surprise given the quality of their rogues gallery.

X-Men

XMen

Kevin Feige referred to them simply as “mutants” at Comic-Con and Victoria Alonso has said that the “X-Men” moniker is an outdated one. In all honesty, after Fox’s terrible movies, a rebrand might not be a bad thing.

Either way, it seems these heroes are being saved for Phase 5 but the sooner we get to see the likes of Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Wolverine in action in the MCU, the better.

The Falcon And The Winter Soldier

U.S. Agent (Wyatt Russell)

US-Agent

It’s clear now that the reason Sam Wilson isn’t Captain America when this show starts is because the United States government will have its own ideas about who should replace Steve Rogers in the wake of Avengers: Endgame

John Walker is a character who has crossed the line between being a hero and villain many times over the years, and it wouldn’t be at all surprising if Baron Zemo is somehow manipulating him.

Songbird (TBC)

Songbird

Set photos have pointed to Songbird making some sort of appearance in the series and while it’s entirely possible that the woman spotted with pink hair is just a crew member, her showing up here makes sense.

After all, Songbird is an original member of the Thunderbolts and her villainous past as Screaming Mimi could make her a perfect ally to both U.S. Agent and Baron Zemo.

Sarah Wilson (Adepero Oduye)

Sarah

The extremely talented Adepero Oduye has been spotted in set photos alongside Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson and that’s led to speculation she could be playing the hero’s sister, Sarah.

That’s just a theory for now, of course, but casting the 12 Years a Slave star was a smart move on Marvel’s part.

Battlestar (TBC)

Battlestar

In the comics, Battlestar assembles a team known as the Bold Urban Commandos (BUCkys) and ultimately takes on the Bucky mantle alongside U.S. Agent.

Recently, rumours have pointed to him showing up in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier and it would make sense for Marvel to give U.S. Agent his own sidekick. However, we have no word on who might be playing him.

Loki

Female Loki (Sophia Di Martino)

Loki

According to reliable sources, British actress Sophia Di Martino will be playing the female version of Loki in the God of Mischief’s solo series on Disney+ and that’s exciting for a lot of reasons.

Whether this will be the status quo for the character moving forward remains to be seen but this would be a cool passing of the torch if Tom Hiddleston’s time as the villain is winding down.

WandaVision

Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn)

Harkness

Described only as a sitcom-style “Nosy Neighbour,” common sense says Kathryn Hahn will play Agatha Harkness, a character pivotal to Scarlet Witch’s mental breakdown.

A powerful witch, Agatha’s decision to wipe Wanda’s memory when it was revealed that her children were beings she had created with her powers led to the hero going mad, killing members of The Avengers, and ultimately declaring “No More Mutants.”

Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris)

Spectrum

Okay, so we’ve met Monica Rambeau before, but she was a child then and when she returns in WandaVision, who knows how much she will have changed!

Randall Park’s Jimmy Woo has been confirmed as making an appearance after his introduction in Ant-Man and The Wasp, so it wouldn’t be at all surprising if she’s also in the FBI. Here’s hoping she gets superpowers, though!

Speed (TBC)

Speed

Marvel Studios is reportedly looking to cast twins for WandaVision and one rumour claims that we’ll initially meet them as babies before they become children and eventually teenagers as we move from episode to episode.

By the time they we do see them as teens, common sense says Wanda and The Vision’s children will go on to join the Young Avengers. Oh, and in case it isn’t obvious, Speed, like Quicksilver, is incredibly fast!

Wiccan (TBC)

Wiccan

A powerful magic user like his mother, Wiccan also happens to be openly gay and would be another character who brings even more diversity to the MCU.

In the Young Avengers comics, Wiccan is romantically involved with his fellow teammate Hulkling.

What If?

The Watcher

Wacther

Just like in the comic books, The Watcher will narrate these adventures to the audience as he introduces us to a number of different realities where one decision can completely change everything.

Jeffrey Wright (Westworld) is voicing Uatu in the animated series and time will tell whether he makes the leap to the big screen. It would still be amazing seeing him in a live-action setting, though.

Hawkeye

Kate Bishop/Hawkeye (Hailee Steinfeld)

Hawkeye

In the comics, Clint Barton and Kate have a rather heated relationship and both serve as “Hawkeye” at the same time. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, however, it appears as if she will be the original Hawkeye’s replacement.

Hailee Steinfeld has been offered the role of Kate Bishop but it all depends on her availability.

Trickshot (TBC)

Trickshot

Clint Barton’s older brother, Barney was believed dead for many years but ultimately returned to cause all sorts of problems for the hero known as Hawkeye.

Estranged as youths because the Swordmaster favoured Clint over him, Trickshot set out to prove that he was the better marksman and it would be a lot of fun seeing this relationship play out over the course of this series.

Pizza Dog (TBC)

Pizza-Dog

Pizza Dog is admittedly just a, well, dog, but there’s an awful lot of excitement to see this beloved comic book canine from Matt Fraction’s run brought to the small screen.

He’s been spotted in concept art for the series so this is definitely going to happen.

Moon Knight

Moon Knight (TBC)

Moon-Knight

The Defenders may have delved into street level superheroes, but those adventures are barely canon and it will be interesting to see Kevin Feige’s take on that corner of the MCU.

Many fans believe that Moon Knight will really delve into the supernatural aspects of the character, and that actually makes a lot of sense seeing as we know vampires are coming in the Blade reboot!

Ms. Marvel

Ms. Marvel (TBC)

Ms-Marvel

Ms. Marvel is another character who fans have spent a lot of time hoping to see added to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and that’s finally happening. It won’t be in Captain Marvel 2, though; instead, she’s also getting her own solo series on Disney+.

The biggest question right now is whether Kevin Feige will make her an Inhuman just like in the comic books but there are rumours which point to that being the case.

The Inventor (TBC)

Birdman

The Inventor is basically a “birdman” and, believe it or not, he’s supposed to be a clone of Thomas Edison who ended up being a giant bird when the scientist accidentally mixed up some DNA samples.

Something tells us Marvel Studios will probably make a few changes to that origin story if he is indeed going to appear here but he could make for a fun big bad in the show.

Black Bolt (Vin Diesel)

Black-Bolt

Vin Diesel campaigned for the role of Black Bolt years ago and while he ultimately ended up being cast as Groot instead, one recent report claimed that he’s being eyed for a rebooted version of the hero in Ms. Marvel.

That makes sense when Kamala Khan is an Inhuman, of course, and it’s about time the entire royal family was done justice after that terrible TV series spearheaded by Jeph Loeb.

Maximus The Mad (Aaron Taylor-Johnson)

Maximus

The only other Inhuman mentioned for this series is Maximus the Mad, Black Bolt’s brother and a villain it’s easy to imagine wanting to manipulate Ms. Marvel for his own gain.

Rumour has it that Quicksilver actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson will be taking on the role but who knows if that will prove to be the case!

She-Hulk

She-Hulk (TBC)

She-Hulk

The Hulk is bound to play a role in Jennifer Walters’ transformation into She-Hulk, while adding another Green Goliath to the Marvel Cinematic Universe should have consequences for this entire shared world.

The question on the minds of many fans, though, is whether Jennifer Walters will cross paths with certain other New York City lawyer…and whether she’ll end up representing a certain web-slinger!

Which of these new additions to the Marvel Cinematic Universe are you guys most excited to see in Phase 4 and 5? As always, let us know your thoughts on that in the comments section below.

Captain America Actor Chris Evans In Talks To Play A Very Bad Dentist In LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS Remake

Image

If you’re a fan of cult 1986 musical Little Shop of Horrors, you’ll know that the highlight of the movie was Steve Martin’s sadistic dentists Orin Scrivello (DDS), and now Chris Evans is in negotiations to play the same role in the upcoming remake.

Greg Berlanti is directing the project, which also has Scarlett Johansson and Taron Egerton circling the lead roles.

Little Shop of Horrors tells the story of Seymour, “a meek florist who works at the aptly named Skid Row Florists, where he is under the thumb of the owner, Mr. Mushnik, but where he also is secretly in love with Audrey, who also works at the struggling shop. Seymour becomes a celebrity when discovers a venus flytrap-looking plant he dubs Audrey II, but his life becomes disastrously complicated when the plant demands to be fed human blood, and then eventually people themselves.”

If Evans signs on he’ll rejoin MCU costar Johansson, who is set to play Audrey. Egerton is in line to portray Seymour, and Billy Porter will provide the voice of the man-eating plant.

You can check out Martin’s hilarious rendition of “Dentist” in the player below. We really hope Evans gets to sing this!

BETTER CALL SAUL Season 5 Premiere Spoiler-Free Review; “[It] Remains a Worthy Follow-Up To BREAKING BAD”

Image

Better Call Saul has faced Breaking Bad comparisons from the start, but that was inevitable when the series serves as both a prequel and sequel to arguably the greatest TV show of all-time. While it’s certainly rivalled and sometimes surpassed that since first debuting in 2015, the consistently entertaining spinoff has always been good fun, but occasionally a little hit and miss. Well, its been firing on all cylinders over the past couple of years, and this strong opening episode in the penultimate season lays the foundations for what looks to be an unmissable year of television.

Kicking off with a lengthy flash-forward to the present day, the stakes are now higher than ever as the opening few minutes show us a Jimmy McGill whose past is finally beginning to catch up with him. Still attempting to escape the shadows of both Walter White and Saul Goodman, Jimmy is in a dark place, and it looks like he may be about to reach the point of no return to protect his new life. In the past, however, he’s riding high with his new moniker and quickly becoming the shady lawyer we first met in Breaking Bad

At this point, it should go without saying that Bob Odenkirk’s work is phenomenal, and he continues to effortlessly make Jimmy/Saul an incredibly likeable presence. As Saul, he’s doing things Jimmy never would have had the stomach for, and it’s fascinating to watch his two very different sides wrestle for control. Rhea Seehorn’s Kim Wexler is another highlight, and her story arc this year looks set to take her down a path every bit as morally dubious as Jimmy’s as his influence continues rubbing off on her in all the wrong ways. Slightly less interesting in this premiere is the Mexican cartel subplot, and while Giancarlo Esposito and Jonathan Banks remain as compelling as ever, Better Call Saul needs to stop dragging that out and start upping the ante in order to make it as interesting as the actors and characters it revolves around. Bringing Gus Fring into the series was a smart move, but it’s beginning to feel like something that might have happened a little too soon.

Still there’s no denying that even after five years, watching Jimmy become Saul remains as fascinating as ever. The premiere – titled “Magic Man” – perfectly sets the stage for what is already shaping up to be one of the seasons yet, and it’s never not going to be a thrill returning to this world (especially after the stellar El Camino). It immediately becomes clear that this isn’t simple filler heading into the show’s sixth and final season, and though it’s still too soon to tell whether the next nine episodes can keep this momentum going, we’re already hooked.

The consistently excellent Better Call Saul still has a little too much filler, but the series remains a worthy follow-up to Breaking Bad, and “Magic Man” points to this penultimate season setting the stage for a must-see final two years.

NEW MUTANTS Stills Spotlight Alice Braga As Dr. Cecilia Reyes And A Sinister-Looking Skull

Image

There was a time when Josh Boone’s X-Men spinoff The New Mutants looked like it may never see the light of day (at least not on the big screen), but following the release of a brand new trailer a couple of months back, the movie is well on track for its April 3rd release.

20th Century Fox Disney will likely begin to amp up promotion over the next month or so, and the official Twitter account recently began to share new stills featuring the main characters. Following some new images of Blu Hunt as Mirage, Henry Zaga as Sunspot, Maisie Williams as Wolfsbane, Anya Taylor-Joy as Magik and Charlie Heaton as Cannonball, we have a new look at the team’s mentor (Alice Braga).

In the comics, Reyes was also a mutant with the ability to generate a force-field around her body, and was briefly a member of the X-Men. The movie version is also expected to have some kind of powers at her disposal, but there’s a lot of speculation that she’ll have more nefarious reasons for training her young students.

Check out the images below along with the previously released ones, and let us know if you’re looking forward to The New Mutants in the comments.

Simply click on next button below!

Cecilia Reyes

Dr. Cecilia Reyes is the head of the institution where the five young mutants assemble to learn how to control their powers. There are hints in the footage we’ve seen that she knows more than she’s telling them, however, particularly when it comes to Mirage and her connection to the Demon Bear.

Mutant Skull?

We have no idea who this skull belonged to, but it looks like Reyes is using it as some kind of teaching prop.

Cannonball #1

Sam Guthrie is the eldest of a large Kentucky coal mining family and the epitome of a southern gent. Sam has the ability to fly at jet speeds while creating an impenetrable force-field, earning him the codename Cannonball.

Cannonball #2

He co-leads the team with Mirage in the comics, and develops an uneasy friendship with Sunspot. He also looks upon Wolfsbane as a Little sister, unaware that she harbours romantic feelings for him.

Cannonball #3

Sam will be played by British actor Charlie Heaton, who will be best-known for his impressive turn as Jonathan Byers in Stranger Things. He also appeared with Naoimi Watts in the 2016 thriller, Shut In.

Magik #1

Easily the most poplar character on the team, Illyana Rasputin is the younger sister of Colossus and a powerful sorceress. As Magik, she has the ability to teleport to different dimensions and this leads to a darker side of her personality emerging when she spends some time in the demonic realm of Limbo.

Magik #2

Though this initially results in her terrified teammates giving her a wide berth, she eventually learns to balance both sides and work with her fellow mutants.

Magik #3

Magik will be brought to life by Anya Taylor-Joy, who rose to prominence with the role of Thomasin The Witch and has since appeared in the likes of Morgan, Barry and M. Night Shyamalan’s Split. She then reprised the role of Casey for the director’s divisive follow-up, Glass.

Wolfsbane #1

Rahne Sinclair, aka Wolfsbane, is a young a Scottish girl struggling to reconcile her staunch religious beliefs with her ability to transform into a werewolf. She’s shy, sheltered and nervous for the most part, but a much darker side is unleashed when the wolf takes over.

Wolfsbane #2

Rahne is close with Mirage and Cannonball (whom she has a crush on), but weary of Magik because of her outspoken personality and demonic powers.

Wolfsbane #3

Wolfsbane will be portrayed by arguably the most well-known member of the cast, Maisie Williams, who shot to fame as Arya on HBO’s Game of Thrones. Williams has also appeared in the likes of Netflix’s iBoy and Doctor Who.

Mirage #1

Danielle Moonstar is a powerful telepath, with the ability to project vivid images/illusions into her opponents’ minds. Though unconfirmed, there’s a pretty good chance Mirage is the one responsible for the terrifying visions the others are plagued by in the trailer. In the comics, she takes the shy Rahne Sinclair under her wing and the two become close friends.

Mirage #2

Mirage will be played by relative newcomer Blu Hunt, who is part Native American. The 24-year-old has previously appeared in The CW’s The Originals, but this will be her first feature role.

Mirage #3

We don’t know how much Boone’s movie will draw from the Demon Bear Saga, but the monstrous entity was glimpsed in the recent trailer, and Mirage’s charm certainly hints at some kind of connection.

Sunspot #1

Roberto da Costa is a brash Brazilian mutant with the ability to channel the sun’s energy and gain great strength in the process. He’s arrogant and hot-headed, but also fearless and protective of his teammates.

Sunspot #2

In the comics, he finds himself at odds with pretty much all of his colleagues, though he does develop a friendship/rivalry with Cannonball.

Sunspot #3

An incarnation – though not a very faithful one – of Sunspot actually appeared in X-Men: Days of Future Past, but the role has been recast for The New Mutants with 13 Reasons Why and Teen Wolf actor Henry Zaga.

THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER Set Photos Hint At A Connection To A HULK Supporting Character

Image

Marvel Studios loves to tease that everything is connected in the MCU, so could this seemingly innocent set photo from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier lead to bigger things to come in the previously announced She-Hulk Disney+ series?

A Twitter user (see below) has snapped a photo that appears to indicate that Samson Development will play a role in the Malcolm Spellman spearheaded television show. Some Marvel fans are wondering if that company will turn out to be owned by Doc Samson, a character played by Ty Burrell in 2008’s The Incredible Hulk. With so much of Falcon and the Winter Soldier still shrouded in mystery, could the limited series revolve around another attempt to recreate the super-soldier formula or the tangentially-related process that resulted in the creation of Abomination?

Disney is said to be holding a special event on March 5th for the official launch of Disney+ in Europe where Marvel Studios will reportedly unveil new details about all the MCU shows planned for the streaming platform. Perhaps we will get new details on Falcon and the Winter Soldier and how Zemo and U.S. Agent factor into whatever mission Sam and Bucky are attempting to complete.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is currently scheduled for release in August 2020 and will consist of six episodes. Reports state the Disney/Marvel are spending upwards of $25 million per episode. The series stars Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan as the titular heroes, along with Daniel Brühl as Baron Helmut Zemo, Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter and Wyatt Russell as John Walker aka U.S. Agent. More recently, Carl Lumby was confirmed to have a supporting role in the series, with some speculating that he’s playing Isaiah Bradley, the African-American test-subject the U.S. government used to try and recreate the Super Soldier formula.

BOX OFFICE: SONIC Remains At #1 Despite Strong Competition From THE CALL OF THE WILD

Image

It was the battle of the cute CGI critters this weekend at the box office, and despite a very respectable opening for The Call of the Wild, 20th Century Studios’ adaptation of Jack London’s classic novel was unable to outpace Paramount’s Sonic the Hedgehog.

The first big-screen outing for the little blue speedster remained at the top of the domestic box office for the second weekend in a row, with a three-day total of $26.3 million. The Call of the Wild, meanwhile, came very close to matching it with $24.8 million.

Overseas, the Hedgehog has raced past the $96 million mark, bringing its worldwide total to $203.1M. The only major release next week in Blumhouse’s Invisible Man reboot, which has some solid buzz and a well-known IP going for it. It remains to be seen of that’s enough to knock Sonic off the top spot, however.

Here’s the full domestic top 10 for February 21 to February 23 (via The Playlist):

Sonic the Hedgehog – $26.3M ($107M Overall)
The Call of the Wild – $24.8M (Debut)
Birds of Prey – $7M ($72.5M)
Brahms: The Boy II – $5.9M (Debut)
Bad Boys for Life – $5.86M ($191M)
1917 – $4.4M ($152M)
Fantasy Island – $4.2M ($20M)
Parasite – $3.1M ($49M)
Jumanji: The Next Level – $3M ($311M)
The Photograph – $2.8M ($17.6M)

THE BATMAN Set Photos Show More Of The Caped Crusader And That Mysterious Second Rider

Image

Thanks to Mail Online, we have another batch of photos from the set of The Batman. These put the spotlight on Edinburgh’s transformation into Gotham City, while we also get a closer look at the Dark Knight’s Batcycle and the Batsuit being worn by Robert Pattinson’s stunt double.

We also get to see the mysterious second rider racing into action, and speculation continues running rampant that this is meant to be Zoe Kravitz’s Selina Kyle/Catwoman.

There continue to be rumblings that Pattinson himself is going to report to the set soon, so that hopefully means we’ll get to see the screen ready Batsuit rather than this padded version. Taking a closer look at some of these photos, it appears the final version of the Batsuit won’t have those lenses, something which may or may not be a relief to comic book fans, depending on what they’re hoping to see.

After all, lenses may have pointed to Batman getting the white eyes so often seen in the source material, but it seems theories that these were just to protect the stunt man’s eyes were correct.

Check out these photos from The Batman by following the link in the Tweet below:

BLACK WIDOW Promo Image Gives Us A New Look At Florence Pugh As Yelena Belova

Image

Following the reveals of Natasha Romanoff (Scarlet Johansson) and Taskmaster (?), we have a first look at the Black Widow tie-in trading card for Yelana Belova, who will be played by Fighting With My Family and Little Women actress Florence Pugh.

This image features Belova decked-out in her white battle gear, which includes the utility vest that many believe Natasha winds up wearing in earlier Marvel movies (later in the MCU timeline).

There’s speculation that Yelena will ultimately take up the mantle of Black Widow and replace Romanoff as a member of The Avengers. There is some comic book precedent for this, of course, but in the source material Belova also goes on to work with S.H.I.E.L.D., Vanguard and HYDRA, so it remains to be seen how things play out in this film.

Check out the new shot of Pugh as Yelena Belova below along with the previously released cards, and ler us know what you think.

Yelena Belova

Florence Pugh will play Belova in Marvel’s first (and most likely only) solo Black Widow movie. She has previoulsy gained acclaim for her performances in the likes of WWE wrestling biopic Fighting With My Family and Ari Aster’s Midsommar.

Taskmaster

We still know very little about Taskmaster or how he’ll factor into the plot. It’s believed that O-T Fagbenle will play him, but that has yet to be confirmed and could simply be misdirection. One outlandish theory claims that it might be Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton under the mask, but that seems more like wishful thinking to us

Black Widow

“In Marvel Studios’ action-packed spy thriller “Black Widow,” Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, confronts the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises. Pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down, Natasha must deal with her history as a spy and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger. Scarlett Johansson reprises her role as Natasha/Black Widow, Florence Pugh stars as Yelena, David Harbour portrays Alexei/The Red Guardian, and Rachel Weisz is Melina. Directed by Cate Shortland and produced by Kevin Feige, “Black Widow”—the first film in Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe—hits U.S. theaters on May 1, 2020.” –Marvel Studios.”

Black Widow also stars William Hurt, Ray Winstone and Olivier Richters. The movie hits theaters on May 1st. Check out the recent extended teaser below, and let us know if you’re looking forward to the movie in the comments.

John Krasinski “Would Love To Talk To [Marvel]” About Playing Mister Fantastic In FANTASTIC FOUR Reboot

Image

John Krasinski has completely reinvented himself after The Office, with starring turns in both Jack Ryan and A Quiet Place. During a recent profile in Esquire, the actor and director confirmed that he’s heard those online rumours that he’ll play Mister Fantastic in Marvel Studios’ Fantastic Four reboot…and it turns out he’s fully on board with the idea!

However, it doesn’t sound like he’s spoken to Kevin Feige and company about the role (at least, not yet).

“I was just about to walk into the worst pun ever, but I was like, that’s a fantastic role. That would be awesome,” he admits. “Marvel wrote the playbook on secrecy and awesome sort of tantalizing lay and wait until everything’s announced. I am not committed to the role or anything, but I don’t know when they’re doing it. But if and when they do it, I would love to talk to them about it.”

At this point, you have to believe that Marvel Studios is well aware of how much fans want to see this happen, and there’s probably going to be a sizeable amount of backlash if Krasinski and real-life wife Emily Blunt don’t end up playing Reed Richards and Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman.

The fact that Krasinski is fully on board with starring in a Marvel movie, and specifically Fantastic Four, definitely bodes well for the future, though. Now, we just need to wait and see if it happens.

What do you guys think?

Check out some concept art from the original Fantastic Four movies
featuring a comic accurate Galactus, Doctor Doom, and more!

The moment the Fantastic Four receive their powers should be every bit as weird and grotesque as what we see here, but their transformation in the movie was safe and visually boring.

This is also far more comic accurate as we see Reed, Sue, Ben, and Johnny bombarded by actual cosmic rays moments before their lives are changed forever (we need to see this in the MCU).

Reed’s lab looked pretty cool on the big screen, but the budget and technology at the time didn’t really allow Story to push the boundaries as much as he probably would have liked.

The same goes for the design of the Baxter Building itself and so we ended up with a pretty normal looking skyscraper, albeit with a landing pad for the team’s Fantasticar.

That appears to be the chamber Reed planned on using to transform The Thing back into Ben Grimm, but, as we know from the movie itself, that simply wasn’t meant to be.

It’s widely believed that the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s version of the Fantastic Four will end up moving into the one-time Avengers Tower and that makes sense for a lot of reasons.

Doctor Doom clearly wasn’t always going to be coated in metal, as we see here that he also crashed back to Earth but got horribly burned in the process, thereby explaining why he would don a suit of armour to cover his scarred visage.

Another look into the home of the Fantastic Four. There’s a reason this team is called “Marvel’s First Family” and these movies did their best to explore what that meant for the heroes.

Making Victor Von Doom a businessman was honestly kind of lame, but this office does look pretty awesome and suitably imposing for a man of his stature.

Fantastic Four: 1 & 2

Fantastic Four: 1 & 2

The fact that the movies included the Fantasticar is definitely a bonus and something they deserve credit for, especially as it was something much harder to pull off back in 2005 and 2007.

Fantastic Four: 1 & 2

Here, we see the team being chased down by the military as they presumably weren’t overly happy with these heroes also taking to the skies in order protect the world.

These designs are all really impressive, but did you know that the Fantasticar was also meant to appear in Josh Trank’s movie? Unfortunately, it ended up being cut as a result of reshoots.

Fantastic Four: 1 & 2

Well, this is a pretty unique take on Doctor Doom! The armour covering his face is amazingly intricate but not something visual effects would have been able to pull off back in 2005.

Fantastic Four: 1 & 2

These costumes are very mid-2000s and The Thing…well, he just looks a little odd! Regardless, these silver and blue suits could have worked, but the mostly comic accurate versions we got looked solid on screen.

Fantastic Four: 1 & 2

Again, these are definitely unique and clearly from the very early stages of development. When Marvel Studios redesigns the team, it will be interesting to see whether they go down the comic accurate route or totally reinvent them.

Fantastic Four: 1 & 2

This isn’t the most exciting piece of concept art in this gallery, but it was clearly meant to be The Thing’s gym and the inclusion of that “4” on the wall at the back is a nice little touch.

Fantastic Four: 1 & 2

How great is this? As we mentioned, the Baxter Building that we got looked pretty boring but this is more like it and a genius way to incorporate the team’s logo into that.

We caught a glimpse of Galactus within that cloud, but Fox did at least consider giving the iconic villain his human form, and we see him looming over Earth in this great piece of artwork.

As the Silver Surfer and Human Torch race into action, Galactus powers up with the intention of making Earth his next victim. Even just a glimpse of the villain in this form would have been much appreciated by fans.

Kevin Feige offered Fox the chance to keep Daredevil in exchange for Galactus and the Silver Surfer years ago, so he’s clearly had big plans for the characters in the MCU for a very long time.

Dormammu was largely wasted by Marvel Studios in Doctor Strange (he was fine, but deserved a bigger role), so here’s hoping Galactus eventually becomes the MCU’s new big bad.

Even if this had been all we’d seen of Galactus in Rise of the Silver Surfer, it would have been so much better than what ended up on screen as that cloud was one of the worst things Fox ever did!

This would have been epic to see. Alas, it was just created for reference by the artist and not one of the pieces Fox considered during the pre-production stages on Rise of the Silver Surfer.

We’re not sure what’s supposed to be happening here but it looks like this could be some sort of massive machine or energy source that Galactus was going to use to destroy the Earth.

These are some pretty crazy visuals and another strange take on Galactus as Story clearly wanted him to be portrayed as an energy force of some kind rather than a huge man in a suit.

While this does work in some respects, it isn’t Galactus and certainly not the version from the comic books fans wanted to see. If nothing else, Earth being drained like that does look quite cool.

Doctor Doom riding the Silver Surfer’s surfboard was a weird decision, but one that worked surprisingly well in this sequel and certainly something you can imagine his comic book counterpart doing.

“In early development, Dr. Doom’s castle in Latveria was a big presence in the film,” artist Darrin Denlinger explains. “While producing stuff for the studio presentation, I did series of illustrations detailing the Fantastic Four’s escape from the castle and Victor Von Doom’s army of ‘Doombots.'”

Before the script was done, we explored several types of rescue operations that could show the team in action,” he continues. “Most didn’t get past the ‘wouldn’t it be cool if…’ stage.  I particularly love the underwater rescue with Ben Grimm in THING-sized scuba gear.”

This really is a, well, fantastic visual and exactly what you’d hope to see from a movie like this. However, you have to believe that the technology of the time would have made making a sequence like this damn near impossible.

Just seeing these heroes being heroes is great and these smaller scale saves is something the reboot definitely needs to focus on as Marvel’s First Family doesn’t just save the universe…they save regular people as well.

“I was hired on to [the movie] long before the script was ready, to work help director Tim Story brainstorm set piece ideas.  One element that was definitively going to present in the movie was the marriage of Reed Richards to Sue Storm…and the epic chaos created by the introduction of Silver Surfer in the middle of it,” Denlinger says.

“To help sell 20th Century Fox on this huge set piece, I thought it would be cool to do them as a hybrid comic book splash page/concept illustration style,” he continues. “Ultimately, this sequence proved a bit ambitious for the budget and was cut down quite a bit in the final film.”

It seems budgetary issues plagued Rise of the Silver Surfer from the start and that’s a real shame because a moment like this would have been phenomenal to see on the big screen.

“The final piece of the wedding sequence was always going to be Johnny Storm chasing down the enigmatic Silver Surfer.  It was such an iconic idea and easily the most fun I had on the movie,” the artist continues.

“The image of the Surfer carrying Torch in the low oxygen stratosphere was directly inspired by an amazing Silver Surfer illustration done by the legendary Adi Grandov,” Deringer concludes, referencing the legendary Iron Man concept artist.

“Ultimately, Tim Story settled on the giant London Eye ferris wheel as a great location for an FF rescue effort. These are a few pages of storyboards I did in the development of the sequence,” he says of this memorable sequence from the movie.

“These final boards were taken from an animatic I did for the film, showing a comedic take on just what a marital tiff would look like in the Richards’ household.” Moments like these would have definitely helped improve this follow-up but an argument could be made that there was already too much comedy.

Many thanks to James Carson, Tim FlatteryDaniel J. Cox, and Darrin Denlinger for the concept art used throughout this post!
